Barracuda X 2022 disconnecting from dongle

Userlevel 1

Hello.

I recently got a pair of Razer Barracuda X (2022) headset and had trouble with the dongle connection. It kept disconnecting and not wanting to connect back unless i unplugged and plugged the dongle a few times and turned the headset off and on a few times. Thought it was a problem with just my pair as the reviews for the headset were good so i returned them and got another pair. This one has almost the same issues. Not as bad tho. For example when i play PUBG, the sound randomly gets completly cut off and i can’t hear anything and it doesn’t come back unless i unplug and plug the dongle back and restart the headset. This takes about 20-30 sec which are crucial for not dying in the game. I tried almost every fix i could find online. I even disabled all other sound output devices. I had the 2021 version before and they worked perfectly, but i decided to get the 2022 version cause they had bluetooth. Never expected the dongle connection would have so many issues. Or maybe i need to change more settings? I never had an issue with the 2021 ones. Anyone has any idea how to fix this?

thank you!

Hi @xTensai . I having completely the same issue as you describe and not found any solution. One of my worst purchases. If any one knows how to solve this issue - please, let us know. I found alot topics about same issue in internet and looks like there is no working solution

Try installing Razer Audio on your phone,  connect it via Bluetooth and change Stand-By mode from 15 minutes to never. For me it worked as I have this pair of headphones for like 3 days and first 2 days they’ve disconnected many times.

Thank you, but i already did that and it didn’t help.

MAN, i have exactly the same problem while playing PUBG! it sometimes happens after like an hour of playing and next time it can be in next 15min, it’s SO random.
It doesn’t appear when im connected to my phone via Bluetooth tho. I can listen to the music for hours with my phone. It only happens with dongle connected to PC with USB-A to USB-C HUB that Razer delivered with headset.

I’ve watched this video above and tried the solution but it did not work, it’s not the USB 3.0 interference.

I will try the Razer Audio thing but i guess it won’t help me.

I’ve noticed similar problems with my Barracuda X 2022 headset too.

I think I’m actually experience two separate issues:

  1. Headset shuts off for no reason in the middle of use.  IT’s happened to me multiple times In middle of gaming session or work meeting. I don’t think it’s related to idle timeout as someone else suggested, because for 15min idle timeouts I would typically get a “POWER OFF” announcement from the headset. But when this happens, the headset just shuts off and I stop hearing anything, and I have to press power button to start it again. It doesn’t happen everyday, but when it always happens when it’s during a crucial time

  2. PC stops detecting headset, can no longer select Barracuda in sound devices even though headset is turned on. Usually happens when I restart my PC from sleep. I need to unplug and re-plug the dongle for the headset to show up again in my sound devices.  Each time this happens, my mic volume and other settings get reset so I need to go back into settings to re-adjust everything.

This issues seems to happen regardless whether I’m using USB-A to USB-C extension or just directly plugging into my PC’s USB-C slot.

Both issues are quite annoying. Hoping there is some firmware update to fix these, but I might have to shop for another wireless headset soon, which is disappointing since I just bought this 2 months ago.

I am having the exact same issue with the dongle going to sleep and needing to re plug it to add to sound devices. Headphones 2 weeks old.

So far there was no update for Barracuda X 2022 and there is no way to update it at all. Update software for non-2022 version of Barracuda X doesn’t work with 2022. I guess it will not change since this problem is quite popular and Razer doesn’t do anything about it.

I got a solution for this tho. I got new PC and headset works flawlessly for more than a month now.

I got the same problem with my brand barracuda x 2022.

I need to restart the headset once it happens and after that there is no problem. It feels like it needs a firmware update or something

This was my second pair that I have replace but still there is a connection problem and the headphones keep disconnect and reconnect all the time!!

can I do anything with that? I star thinking maybe the problem is in the usb ports on the motherboard/pc case.

i just bought the razer barracuda and they only work well by using the audio jack ports if i use the dongle it loses connectivity and the mic sounds AWFUL any fix for that or should i just return them and buy some other headphones

😂我今天打PUBG也出现了这样的问题,我使用的是2.4G无线接收器,今天游戏的时候突然没有声音,我赶紧拔插了2.4G无线接收器并按电源重启,才解决的。然后过后不久又遇到了一次。

same exact thing is happening. to me. i got the raser barracuda x and it just kept disconnecting from the dongle. got like 3 replacements but kept happening. even bought the barracuda and same thing happens. only thing that stops it is using bluetooth but it has a delay which is annoying when gaming. razer needs to fix their trash products tbh

Guys, has anyone been able to beat the loss of communication? Or just return them to the store?

No. I kept them. It happens like 1-2 times per day now and i have to turn them off, disconnect and reconnect the dongle and turn the headphones back on and the sound comes back. This whole process usually takes around 15-20 sec. Had another pair before which was worse and i returned it and got another one. But i think all have the same issue.

Same problem….

same problem to me, any solutions?

Same problem. Tried to connect with usb2.0 extend cable, disable and separate with usb3.0 port, disable all the audio output devices. Still can’t fix it. Seems it’s not the interference problem. Just using 3.5 jack for gaming now. When will Razer update the drivers or firmware

Same issue here.

Had a 2021 version which worked well and not once disconnected. Had to get it replaced due to the microphone eventually failing. Was initially very happy Razer sent me out a 2022 version as replacement, but it's been nothing but issues while playing PUBG. Random disconnections without any reason. Doesn't seem like there is anything specific that triggers it. The only fix is to unplug and plug the dongle back in.

It only disconnects while playing PUBG on 2.4ghz, which is odd. All other games, YouTube, Netflix, etc... work fine for hours without disconnecting.

I also find this 2022 version to be a bit quieter than the 2021. The 2021 I was able to play at 50% comfortably and even at that volume was sometimes too loud. With the 2022 I am playing at 70% volume and sometimes up to 75%.

This is my second 2022 version because initially Razer thought the dongle was defective due to the disconnections, but the replacement is the same.

Anyone on here have a solution for the PUBG random disconnections?

It doing the same thing on my PlayStation 5 it's pissing me off

let’s make some survey (while razer ignores the problem).

Does anyone faces the disconnection while playing PUBG? Or other games too?

do you use SteelSeries GG?

My answers are: yes, no, yes

I have done everything of the above, but nothing seems to work.

anyone have find a solution for it? my headset still stopping working when playing pubg

Hello, goog news, problems solved, it is necessary to upgrade FW...Razer Barracuda X (2022) - upgrade FW 😉

Even updating to 1.6.0 does not solve the problem
