What Monitor Are You Playing On?

Hey Insiders,

Whether we’re rocking a setup ready to launch a rocket or a humble rig, we all have something in common—we need a screen to play on. With new features like the mesmerizing HDR or blazing fast refresh rate popping up every month, choosing the perfect monitor can be tough. There are now more types of panels than games available, and with the arrival of 4K and Ultra-Wide gaming, resolution is also an important factor.

So, what kind of monitor are you guys playing on? A classic 1080p 60Hz monitor? A lightning-fast 144Hz screen? Maybe a brand new 4K monitor to savor every tiny in-game detail? Or perhaps…you play on a TV. You savage.

Tell us now and let’s discuss monitors!

I play World of Warcraft, Heroes off the Storm, Hearthstone and Overwatch. I use two monitors For specific game 2560x1440 165hz and 3440x1440 100hz
LG25UM58 25" UltraWide 1080p

I have 2 screens I use for gaming. For non-VR, I rock an AOC 2369M (with a Hanns-G HT231 and Acer V246HL as peripheral monitors for my information and other stuff like browsers, Discord, etc). When I step into VR, I go into a Dell Visor. Something I'm doing more of these days thanks to Beat Saber.

The samsung CF791, is a 34 inch curved monitor with quantum dot that supports 3440x1440 at 100Hz, so it is possible and available!! 🙂

It can't support 1440p and have 100Hz and be curved, plus Samsung makes TV's, not monitors, CHECKMATE!
Samsung 1080

Currently using an Acer Predator XB252Q.

It's a 25'' 1080p TN monitor, quite expensive, but that 240hz :eek_:

I'm running a GTX 1060, so I don't reach 120+ FPS in most games. I wanted to get a GTX 1070, but since the new Nvidia Volta series GPUs are coming out in a few months, I didn't want to waste money on an expensive GPU. (My PC was built recently, like 2 months ago.)

The only complaint I have is that its color bit depth is only 8 bit (6 bit + FRC), so I do get some color banding, and the build quality is alright, but it does creak here and there.

I'm not sure if it was worth paying $650 for this, since for $750 I could have gotten an XB281HK, a 4K monitor from Acer, only 60hz, but I saw it in real life recently and mother of god the pixels are so dense. I looked at it from 3 inches away and I could barely see individual pixels.
Predator X34 - Ultrawide 3440x1440p @ 100hz. I recently got the Alienware 240hz 25" monitor for my girlfriend since she plays so much Overwatch.

I am using Asus VG248QE - 144Hz monitor, which I picked up for a decently cheap price from one of our countrys online stores. I used to have second screen (Samsung 24" 60Hz basic screen can't remember model), which I donated to my little brothers rig.

I have that same screen. I love it and really don't have any complaints beyond that my computer can't actually push full 144fps in most games.

I recently made the jump to UHD too - I don't regret a thing. Games are so sharp in 4K, it's just glorious. I love going around Toussaint in The Witcher 3 and discovering new details in paintings or mural art.

I was wanting to swap to UHD as well, but my hardware can't quite do 4k. So I was curious, how does 1080p look on a 4k panel?

Thank you for your opinion, but there isn't, if there is, name one monitor that can go past 60fps

Monitors don't render anything so they aren't able to produce any frames per second, what you guys are talking about is refresh rate which is measured in Hz's and not fps

fps is output and hz is input
Currently using BenQ XL2540. It sucks, the signal switch just not working and the CS told me that "It is normal."

I had the same issue when I bought the screen, not enough power on computer. Then I had to invest double the screen price for gpu 😉
I have been wanting to upgrade my video card, but i am sure you know all about that. Now that prices are coming down and the next line is about to be released, i might have a chance. Currently running 2x 780's and to really get an "upgrade" I would have to go with the 1080 at least. or the 1170 probably.

1080 at least? A 1060 would probably be an upgrade over 780 SLI.
I've read a bunch of forums and they say the 1070 is like 10% better than the 780sli. So to get a significant upgrade (worth the $500+), I would have to go with 1080 or maybe 1070 ti.
BenQ XL 2430-T 144hz and some Viewsonic monitor I found at my dad's office 😛
Predator XB1 28 inch with G-Sync and I love it
