Blackwidow V3 Pro wireless doesn't work when charging from any power source with USB cable

Userlevel 1

Hi Guys,

Today I updated my blackwidow v3 pro’s framework to 3.0.x ver, and after that I found the keyboard wireless cannot work when plugin the USB cable for charging only (Both 2.4g and bluetooth).  It can work fine if pluged with a PC ( the wireless cannot work though). Unplug the cable the wireless works fine.

When plug in the usb cable (in a wall power sockect), the keybord will shutdown for a second, all lights die, then relight up slowly. At this moment only lights are up, but wireless functions are died.

Before updating the framework everything was fine (version was 2.0.x). And i also tried to reset the keybord from Synapse and Hold “ESC + Caps On + Space” method, nothing worked. Changed to other wall sockets, changed cable, nothing worked.

Need your kind help if anyone has solution or idea on this, million thanks!

I did a firmware update today and notice same issue with charging and using. That is not acceptable after years of using it that way. I split my usage from work pc and home with 2.4ghz on one and Bluetooth on the other. I basically always used plugged in for wireless part is mostly for connection to use one keyboard. I followed instructions above and downgraded to v2 then it worked again. After googling I found a version 3.01.01r1 and updated back to that one. Which is what I had before I did the upgrade. It still retains the function on that version. It only loses it on the latest firmware update.

Just spent an hour figuring out what was going on as I mistakenly updated my drivers and the app to change the lights after reloading my OS last week to fix some glitches.  The fixes in this thread to go back to V.2 worked like a charm.  Ridiculous update Razer- do better.  We want to charge while on wireless.

Came here to say that I had this problem but I am now happily typing on my keyboard while it is plugged into external power.

Found 3.01.01r1 version mentioned by @Truthbringer76  here:

This weird website just redirects to razerzone.com so it seems legit:

https://dl.razerzone.com/drivers/BlackWidow%20V3%20Pro/win/BlackWidowV3Pro_FirmwareUpdater_v3.01.01_r1.exe

Follow update, hold FN while plugging in keyboard and back in business.

Legend! I am literally typing this while charging connected over the 2.4GHz dongle after using this 3.01.01 binary from dl.razerzone.com.

Where is Razer’s response on this, do they post in this forum at all? The current firmware here https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/4728 was released in June 23 and breaks the ability to type while charging. Come on Razer, own the mistake and make a tiny firmware update...

The battery charge level does not go above 85% v3

After downgrading to version 2 it does not go above 87%.

I am a Razer junkie and this is a issue please fix it Razer is known not only for the good gaming peripherals for the support too so fix it before all Razer junkies change to Logitech because if I pay the price I expect to get all the features and not the half of it. Btw if you see with my id witch items are registered you will understand… I would be happy if that charging from a external device is available. So please update the drivers for blackwidow v3 pro because that’s a shame to lose a feature like that. I don’t want to have 10 cables in my pc plugged in that are not connected to anything and waiting for to charge my devices that’s sad very sad I downgraded now to 3.01.01 to have that feature but I hope for the next update that gets fixed. So you can close the thread with a supported new version. Thank you very much support Team let’s se if you will get it done.

p.s. Don’t lose me as a customer… I don’t want to change but I will if that won’t happen for sure….

Hey Razer Support Team Focus please more to the fans you have got because you will lose them… please update and bring back this feature else you will lose me.

hope for the best it’s my first and last reply I hope my words made you think. I pay I expect more transparency would be perfect.

I've got this issue except my keyboard also doesn't work when plugged directly into my PC as well as a wall socket. If it's charging at all it just doesn't work. It used to work by default through the USB to pc connection when I was charging it to the point that half the time I just used it as a wired keyboard, but at some point an update stopped that feature so now it only works when not plugged in and not charging and it also appears as 3 different keyboards (Bluetooth, 2.4, and wired) all connected to my pc at once, but none of the buttons register unless I unplug it, and it registers the 2.4 even when the fob is unplugged.
