Very glad to announce that the Android Pie 9.0 Update is now rolling out to Razer Phone 1 devices right now!

I personally want to thank you all for being so patient, I know this was a long time coming but thank you for holding on and sticking with the team.

Now go get your pie update!

EDIT: There is currently an issue with the camera in the latest update.

If you have do not disturb switched on the camera will force close. For now please turn those function off until a fix is rolled out.

Anyone have battery razer phone replacement??
My battery now only can use for 2-3 hours with full charged, and at 40-30% phone trun off and can't reboot without charging

I have a camera issue since I updated to Android 9. I couldnt find any similar problem in this thread or somewhere else. Maybe we can find a workaround or at least Razer will bugfix them all (sometimes).
When I start the original camera app, it crashes. The same happens when I use other camera apps e.g. Lightroom. After restarting the phone its still the same. Sometimes, maybe the moon glows enough, the camera app works for a moment, but its only luck. Have someone else this problem?

Maybe it's the "Do not disturb" bug? Turn of that feature if it's on and see if that gets the issue fixed.

I have problem with percentage number of battery, its not accurate showing number, my phone trun off at 40% when i try to reboot its show percentage 15% then i connect the charger its show percentage 50%, any suggestions to fix it?? Battery drain so fast with 1080 screen and 60hz

Mine have similar issue as well. It still turns off at 1%~2%, but after turned off, as far as I plug-in the power cable, it shows >40% battery immediately, which is impossible. I can't confirm if this happens before the update or only after the update, but I think I only notice the issue after the update, since it happens more often to me.
Btw, the reason I run out of battery more often is because before the update, when it's in battery saver mode, the shell UX is in red, which gives me clear indication. Now such behavior no longer exists, instead some apps turn into dark mode if you happened to open them.

is there any way to get android 8 again? android 9 just has to many bugs still (eg browser crash in dnd mode etc). hard to use and not acceptable for a phone at this price class.

all levels are up and full volume and still no sounds or ring tones

Try to change the ring tong and then change back?

you may have to tap volume up or done, then tap the gear icon on the screen and make sure your volume levels are up

1: I have had that issue literally 1 time. Phone is always connected to my fitbit and in my car connects to the HU and the Echo Auto. 1 time I couldn't get it to work with all 3.

2: Not just chrome, all my browsers crash (chrome, edge and firefox) when DND is enabled. There was another app that did, but drawing a blank at the moment.


Yes, my browsers crashes as well. Now I finally know it's DND and thus could "fix" it by turn of DND. Thanks both for the post.
However, I still have some other apps crash / not working that not related to DND, as well as many other issues.

I have been on the Android 9.0 upgrade for a couple weeks now. I have noticed the following two issues.

1. Bluetooth, it seems the device only likes being connected to one device at a time. To get the Bluetooth to reliably connect to my car every time, I have had to disconnect my Samsung Gear Fit from the phone. Also tested using a bluetooth headset, if the phone is already connected to the headset, it will not connect to the car.

2. App crashes when in DND mode. So far, I've noticed both the camera and Chrome either instantly crash or crash after no more than 3 seconds.

I have tried resetting the phone to factory defaults twice, issues remain. Has anyone found a way to resolve these?

1: I have had that issue literally 1 time. Phone is always connected to my fitbit and in my car connects to the HU and the Echo Auto. 1 time I couldn't get it to work with all 3.

Before the Pie update MR2 was the last one but your build number lines up with MR1 as does your security patch so something is wrong here.

Do you know how to use ADB to apply updates?

That's very odd...not only are you not getting Pie but your device is on MR1 of Oreo and not MR2! :S

7. The last one I'm not sure if it's a bug or just my illusion. I feel that sometimes after I close an app using the app switch view (swipe up the app), all other background apps just disappear from the switch view as well, which means it's empty. However, the other apps are still running background since when open those apps, they are not starting from scratch.

As you see some of my issues could have consistent repro (1-4) while others happen randomly (5-7).
(Sorry I have issue post all my content as a whole in one reply, the website just says I don't have permission...)

5. Multiple websites just crash in browsers, including chrome, edge, or any app that uses webview. There's no way to open these pages on the phone when it happens (all apps can't open that page). However, when I try to repro the issues now, I can't repro with those pages I had issue before (I met the issue with 3 pages, all in different time). I think it's very likely that the issue could be fixed after restart or just try again another time (but it's very unlikely that the 3 pages changed). However, super annoying and random.

6. Sometimes I saw mysterious dot on the left side of notification bar, usually at the end of the notification app icon list. I don't know what's that.

Here are some issues I met so far. I hope I could find a time this week to submit bug more formally.



  • Every time after restart, The SD card was not recognized. It will be recognized later, and as a result, all apps on SD card would be added to home screen. (I changed the options of my launcher to not add new apps to home screen as a walk-around. However, I still receive that notification regarding SD card missing every time restart).
  • Also, T-Mobile voice mail shows error message each time after restart. Voice mail is also missing from phone app after upgrade and need to access from separate app (It's probably by design but don't like it).
  • I have 4 3rd-party alarm apps. One of them can't open anymore (crash immediately after open). One no longer alert unless the app is running foreground (which makes the app useless). One still alerts but sometimes not on time. Only one still works as before.
  • Mute/unmute sound in settings page doesn't work properly. I think the expected behavior is that if you click an icon, that item should mute / unmute, but it's not the case now. The only way to mute / unmute is to drag the slider. What's more, I think the expected behavior of dragging a slider all the way to the very left is mute (no sound), but instead it still sounds at the moment you completes your drag.
