Hey Insiders!

Very glad to announce that the Android Pie 9.0 Update is now rolling out to Razer Phone 1 devices right now!

I personally want to thank you all for being so patient, I know this was a long time coming but thank you for holding on and sticking with the team.

Now go get your pie update!

EDIT: There is currently an issue with the camera in the latest update.

If you have do not disturb switched on the camera will force close. For now please turn those function off until a fix is rolled out.

File size is 56mb if you had pie already or 1.2GB if you're on Oreo. Changlog is the exact same but unofficially this build fixes the Game Booster issue.

Still waiting for confirmation for carrier rollout.

Really glad to see this update going out for you all 🙂 you've all been extremely patient and I thank you for hanging in there! Remember this update is because all of you have been amazing!

To everyone experiencing any sort of issue after updating, please don't hesitate to send us mods a PM. We'll do our best to get you all sorted out. That said, we would need to gather your Dev Logs so we can put up a proper fix sooner than later.

ADB means no warranty voiding though (if that matters to you)

Gimmie a sec i'll see if I can dig up an OTA link and we'll see if that works for you.

is there any way to get android 8 again? android 9 just has to many bugs still (eg browser crash in dnd mode etc). hard to use and not acceptable for a phone at this price class.

I cant read my Fanfiction on fanfic app and phone performance is choppy. Like really laggy. Hope this will be fixed.

Found a temporary fix. Disable game booster then restart phone.

The fix I posted above does work but unfortunately it seems Game booster is broken in this update everyone

I'll get this passed on asap but for now just reset game booster

(System settings>game booster> tap the reset icon on the top right hand corner)

My camera keeps crashing, can't even open it!

Can't replicate that issue here, my camera is opening fine. Are you using Gcam or the razer cam?

Okay clear the camera app data if you haven't already just to make sure it's not got some corrupted data. If no luck uninstal it and update it via the play store again.

I've cleared the cache, no luck still. Also no option to uninstall.

When I check it, the system update says v8.1 is latest & upto date..

Can razer even release the factory images for users that will also do a factory reset after installing the image then release a patch for the game booster bug?

Nah they will wait to fix the game booster apk and then release the update, wouldnt want a problematic image now would they.

so, wait a sec! Is it actually integrated into the system natively? Like e.g. Sony has this integrated into the connections menu in settings? Or do you still need a 3rd party app to use it?

Yes, native Miracast support. Tested with my firetv stick and a few Samsung TV's at work. Just go to the cast settings page, hit the ... In the top left and enable wireless display.

Hi I'm a rp1 user in the UK and I downloaded the update I really wish I hadn't iv had

  • Black screen issues on games the booster reset is only a temp fix every day
  • The volume controls are now horrible
  • I don't get notifications sounds and the screen doesn't come on when I get notifications
  • When I plug into charge it goes into a sort of loop wherewill go back a few seconds to whatever I was doin where it been playing video or typing - sometimes turning the phone off while on charge fixes it
  • The actual brightness overall seems dimmer especially when outside

To sum up this update has destroyed the few good things about the phone and I have pretty much regretted getting it about 80% of the time I love razer products but I think they should have tried harder before this was released

    This is an Android 9 thing and a trash decision by google. They are horrible and should have never been implemented.

    I thought it was a combination of my bad eyesight and sun brightness where I live...

I guess there is a bit to fix still. I don't see the volume controls going back to was previous android versions had, because google seems to think that they know what you want now.... Gamebooster needs a fixing, badly. Brightness would be a nice fix.

Nothing yet sadly, monitor reddit just in case. You know just like they say good things are worth waiting for.

Anyone else having call quality issues? Sound on other device being called from R2 is very muffled. Tried factory reset but didnt fix anything. Its worse when in speaker mode as well.
