[TotW] Chroma Over Function | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

I find the lack of Chroma gifs...disturbing.

Does Chroma make or break your reason to buy a Razer product? This question goes either way. For example, if there's no Chroma option, do you not buy it? Or maybe you do buy it because it has no Chroma (and how dare you).

Let me know your thoughts in this week's Thread of the Week. Like and comment for a chance to earn a larger pool of Silver while two others with good comments will also receive some Silver for their thoughts.

i prefer the design of the gear rather than RGB/non-RGB.
The Chroma provided by Razer's product is certainly one of the reasons that I am so obsessed with Razer's product. I had some very disappointing experience that the product that I bought is no lighting effect (Razer True wireless headphone) that I immediately ask for refund :rolleyes::rolleyes:

None of the other companies could imitate what Razer's provided. That is one of the core competitive advantages of market competition.

In the near future, I wish to have much better Chroma customization such as customize Music wave effect like the default Chroma visualization setting.
Some as most of the people, I would like to but a Razer product only if it could provide a crazy light effect

Razer visualization is one of the best settings among all!

I am not a great creator, but that setting just makes things perfect!
The first time I spend money on mouse mat is because of the glowing rim (RGB lighting) of the Firefly V2.

Damn! it cost even more than my mouse and keyboard!!!!

But the Razer's chroma is so irresistible :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:
Chroma may not be my ultimate decider especially if it comes with an extra wiring. Nowadays we prefer cleanup with minimal wiring. However, if the wiring can be easily managed (concealed) I don't mind picking the Chroma version.
i buy for function of course! but if it has chroma then it is only a bonus!
I have no idea why I bought so much Razer stuff...I guess it's for Chroma ONLY! :cool_:

I never used any of the functions except for testing and troubleshooting for others! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:
The enchantment of Chroma is too good to pass on. Then there's Synapse, it makes Chroma more interesting with your own imagination. 100% needs to have Chroma before I buy.
Anansi was my first razer keyboard because it surve me well on mmo-rpg games and because of the blue light since i like playing in the dark whether if its day or not. So chroma has become fuction as well since i have the feeling that i can focus more easily while writing and hitting keys... Or its just an inseption of mine. Still, it feels like lighting and rgb puke or even adjusted light to most common keys or macros equal to function and style.
Razer makes great products and though other brands such as HyperX and Logitech, and similar brands offer similar lighting like Razer they are just copying Razer, but they lack the maticulous and functioning almost to perfection that Razer provides with all their products. Chroma RGB is awesome, I am a new member, and I am excited and ready to purchase more Razer gear, I have the Blackwidow Lite Star Wars Trooper Edition Keyboard and it is truly amazing. I currently am the proud owner of 5 of Razer products and today when the Gamestop that I go to opens up I will go and pick up my Ornata V2 which I am so excited about, awesomeness.
I hope there's no one around here who thinks chroma can only be a downside of the Razer products. The product itself would not be as good looking and pleasant without it. It's in the Razer nature to have it.
CHROMA is how I got into the Razer Eco System

Prior to that, all I had was 1 Razer product, a DeathAdder mouse

The second I discovered that my new-to-me-at-the-time black widow chroma keyboard integrated with Overwatch (and other games) and in game effects would show on the keyboard itself.... I was floored. I had to try a chroma version of my mouse .... and like magic, they sync'd together! It wasnt long before I added a chroma'd mouse pad, and a chroma'd head set.

TL;DR = chroma legit is the reason why I buy, what I buy
Hello friends,

I use the chroma function a lot on my Razer Ornata keyboard to create intuitive and ergonomic control groups.

It's easier to use, I also use different colors for each module of my keyboard.

I would so like video game developers to use interactivity with RGB keyboard more, to make certain keys blink during the game.

I should also use more mod dedicated to RGB keyboard.
I started with just green backlit products (The Deathstalker and Deathadder 2013) at first, however since I have fallen for the Chroma spell, haha. I have however purchased a set of Kraken TE's before the Chroma Kraken Ultimate's came out, and I also love the stealthy look of the Blackwidow Lite.
While Chroma is cool and everything, I dont put it into the value of the product. I prefer functionality and reliability because I would hope to use that item for a long period of time. Chroma is not what I am thinking about when I buy a product. This is not to say that I dont like Chroma. Chroma is really cool and it has so many features.... it's just amazing. But it isn't my focus when buying a product.
Razer without chroma = I buy

Razer with chroma = I buy, my 2 sons buy, my wife buy
Well, let's face it.. Chroma is the first thing you imagine when you hear about a new Razer peripheral THEN its the logo and then the positioning of the buttons. 😃 That's how much Razer is known for its chroma products.

It's a thing you can't deny.

But for some people, it's not the 'buy factor' and its more about the quality of the products.

I have Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition 2014, 6 years later, it's in a perfect condition and I wouldn't trade it for a chroma one just cuz of the quality of it. Although, when it craps out, I would probably get a chroma one. :D

I got the Kraken Pro Quartz...no chroma there.

Do I wish to have the Kitty Kraken cuz of the chroma? OOO, HELL YEAH!

But why don't I have it? Cuz quality. My Kraken headset's warranty expired a long time ago, but they are as good as fresh new out of a box. Not a single pixel of usage visible.

And since most people love the chroma, you might kill me for this comment I'm gonna make but ...

I think I would prefer it if my Basilisk Quartz didn't have Chroma. ( YEP, I said it)

Honestly, pink doesn't go well with all colours! If someone disagrees with it, they are probably color blind.

For sure, all black-colored based mouse goes lovely with the Chroma , but the Mercury edition with a chroma is just so visually pleasing that I have considered buying but I decided not to because I was concerned with the maintenance of a white set.

So overall, i swing both ways - Quality with a hint of colour.
I'm a simple guy, I see Chroma and I instantly buy.

Doesn't get simpler than that.

I agree that in pink or white background-color the lighting effect is not stand out as black. I had Kitty Kraken Quartz which is the one you desire, and I found out that the Chroma would be much better if the headset is black.

Luckily, the Synapse 3 could allow you to customize your setting. So, if you don't like it, turn it off :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_::cool_:
I have the Razer Huntsman and i really like it. I used to have a normal keyboard and I never payed that much attention to all those gaming equipment. I thought a keyboard is a keyboard and there is not much of a difference. I was so wrong. After I got my Huntsman I noticed that it is more comfortable to typ in things because there is a lower resistence to press the button down. So it is much friendlier to you fingers. Also it has some useful features for gaming like the Gaming Mode Button and short time to trigger. The lights are kind of nice but it is not the factor that convinces me get razer products.
Alongside the impeccable quality, RGB was the other reason that made me choose Razer.

2 are the questions:

Are you a gamer?

If yes, do you like RGB? (some don't, respectable):

Good! Then get Razer because they have the best effects and iconic products.

What did you expect from the inventors of the feature?

Like I told Splinxes at a live stream, "Razer has by far the best RGB customization and functionality"

I stand by that statement to this day.
I know many people who love chroma and many who are too lazy to set it up.

Those lazy people also decide to go as far to say they have to make an account, so chroma is too shady to trust.

If there is a valid incentive for gamers to not have chroma, I'd actually be intrigued.

But, we are gamers! We don't let go of our childhood of Light-up Skechers, we envelope it in encouragement and go get light-up everything. If you're not a gamer, you won't want chroma (and I will never understand you). If you are a gamer you must either choose THE GREAT GAMER GANG or the dark side.
Chroma is not top priority, but I do have 2 Razer products for their Chroma.

Can I really be blamed for the Mug Holder?
Being honest, I admit that Chroma grants an undeniable added value.

But it's not the first criteria that comes to my mind when it comes to choose a product over an other.

The use potential is much more important than the visual aspect.

That's why I prefer my old mouse (WoW Cataclym from Steelseries) with the repartition of all the 13 buttons all over the mouse itself over a Naga (that I have too) because it's a mess for myself to have so many under my thumb.

I'm more into the Basilisk V2 because even if it doesn't haver Chroma, I will be easier to use it, so I tend to get one soon.

For the same reason I chosed the Blackwidow Elite over the Hunstman Elite because of the USB passthrough and the media keys, even if I have to say that the Chroma wrist rest is awesome.
hmm I see now how it is?
