2.4Ghz Hyperspeed Multi-Device Loses Keystrokes when Mouse is Moved

I have two Razer devices that I have been testing using the multi-device feature for the 2.4Ghz Hyperspeed USB connection. They are both on the supported list of devices, but when I connect them together I lose keystrokes if I am simultaneously mousing.

The devices I am using are:

  • Razer BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed (on the latest firmware v2.01.01_r1)
  • Razer DeathAdder V3 Pro (on the latest firmware v1.01.01_r1)

To reproduce this, you have to do the following:

  • Connect the DeathAdder as a second device on the BlackWidow's 2.4Ghz USB dongle.
  • Open a text editor (e.g. notepad).
  • Type a few letters repeatedly while simultaneously moving the mouse in circles.
  • You will notice many keystrokes get missed. Also, key down events get lost so the keys appear stuck "down" and will auto-repeat once you stop typing.

The reason why this is important is if you are playing a game and using the mouse for aim while using the WASD keys for movement, you will notice your movement is unresponsive and glitchy (your character will continue to move forward/left/right/back randomly).

To remove possible environmental/software issues I also tried the following:

  • Repairing the second device doesn't fix the issue.
  • Firmware updates don't help (had the same issue with stock firmware, and now the latest firmware)

  • I tried a second computer and got the same results.
  • Closing Razer Synapse also has no effect (you can reproduce the same glitch with Synapse closed).

Something interesting to note is that multi-device with this keyboard and mouse works fine if you pair in the opposite direction. Using the mouse's 2.4Ghz USB dongle to add the keyboard has no problem with lost keystrokes. I don't have an easy way to tell if it is prioritizing the keyboard and losing mouse events, but it seems fine.

I hope this thread helps folks who are frustrated that they are losing keystrokes when they have multiple devices paired. The quick fix would be to use your mouse dongle instead of the keyboard dongle.

Also, hopefully the Razer developers who work on the 2.4 Ghz USB dongle will read this thread. My guess is that it is just a firmware issue with the BlackWidow V3 Mini's USB dongle. It may need an update to work without conflict with a DeathAdder V3 mouse.

Oh, jeez. I just tried this out and looks like I have the same issue. I didn't notice it until now, but that's really bad. Brand new Blackwidow V3 Pro alongside a brand new Naga V2 hyperspeed...

I might go and get a refund if this isn't fixed fast.


[edit] switching the Naga to bluetooth seems to do the trick as a workaround, but obviously this is not ideal, only works because I'm using a laptop. I also tried having the devices paired to separate dongles, but they seem to interfere with eachother in new ways in that case, randomly disconnecting at times.

[another edit] looks like pairing the keyboard to the mouse's dongle rather than the other way around also works.

I’ve got the same issue on the DeathStalker v2 Pro TKL (v1.04.01_r1) & Basilisk v3 Pro (v1.01.00_r1). On mine however, using both the dongles as a standalone also causes missing keystrokes.

 

Have tried changing to different USB ports as well as switching between USB 2 and 3.1 ports, failed.

 

The only way it works fine was to use the Basilisk v3 Pro dongle and add-on the DeathStalker v2 Pro TKL to the paired hardware.

I got the same issue with deathstalker v2 pro and basilisk v3 pro.

I have this exact same problem with the exact same devices, and the interruption happens each way.

 

IE pairing Keyboard to mouse dongle - the Keyboard strokes are interrupted / unstable / get stuck / glitch

Pairing Mouse to the keyboard dongle - the mouse clicks are interrupted / unstable / get stuck / glitch.  I have to run on bluetooth (no issues / but no synapse colours on keyboard that way) or plug in the keyboard and leave mouse on bluetooth.

 

Either way, the 2.4ghz selling point seems to be hot garbage for the price of these devices.

Same problem but it only occurs on my keyboard . The problem is much more often when using the keyboard dongle. Using the mouse dongle will reduce the frequency of problem occurrences but it still occurs. I haven't experienced any problems with the mouse after testing it for a couple of days while playing Apex Legends.

My solution is to not use the multi-devices function and just use separate dongles for each device. Using bluetooth or wire to connect also work but that's not what I want for 350 dollars. I'm buying the razer mouse dock pro and see if it fixes the problem.

I’m getting the same problems with the Viper V2 Pro and the Deathstalker V2 Pro. I picked Razer devices for my new Gaming Laptop which I spent a lot of money on for it to match the specs of my i9 PC due to the promise for one dongle supporting both my mouse and keyboard. Now I feel ripped off because my keyboard lets me down in games. Microsoft managed to have single Dongle setups for Mouse and Keyboard sets in the 2010s. Razer please do better. (Note: I had to backspace and edit this message multiple times because of the single dongle issues.) I am a software engineer by trade and need to use this laptop for work as well as gaming and writing apps is hard when you have a faulty keyboard :(

I have a problem with my Deathstalker V2 pro keyboard

when I play for example CS 2 on it, my movement keeps getting blocked. I have to release the button and press it again. The problem appeared last week. I tested it on 2 different computers and the effect is the same.

I have already updated the software to the highest version.

I would like to point out that I also use the Deathadder V2 pro mouse and Blacksgark V2 pro headphones. I don't have any problems with them though. Each device is connected separately.

Same problem here; I have tried using both dongles, which doesn’t work, or pairing both using the same dongle (tried both) where in both cases only the mouse works with the 2.4Ghz. The keyboard for some reason keeps dropping off also as visible in Synapse. The keyboard connects for a few moments but is as above mentioned quite unresponsive, and then drops again from the device list in Synapse. 

 

The keyboard only works now using the cable, which is also fine of course, or bluetooth. Of course I would prefer to have both on 2.4Ghz on one dongle.

After watching/reading review about the keyboard and mouse using the multiple device pairing I decided to come here to ask questions about it.  Seems the issue it still occurring even after 2 years some of those devices we’re out using this new functionality :-(.

Did you have any update on this issue for the ticket that was open for the dev teams to investigate/resolve this issue?  This is kind of a deal breaker if we want to both use the mouse and keyboard in 2.4ghz.  I was looking forward to get the blackwidow v3 mini hyperspeed, but not I’m not so sure it such a good ideas knowing the issue.

This may help some people, I was having the same issue until I plugged in the cord they came with, to the little usb box it came with and of course my pc. Then plugged the dongle into that little box. I’m sorry I don’t know the proper names. I didn’t move the little box any closer to me, just put it on top of my pc. The lost keystrokes went away and the mouse stopped acting up.
