Barracuda X USB-C Dongle suddenly not working

Hi there,

 

so today I wanted to use my Barracuda X Headset with my laptop via the USB-C Dongle. Before plugging it into the USB-C port the dongle worked fine on my other PC and my Samsung phone. After plugging it into my laptop it neither worked on said laptop and after checking it with my phone it also did not want to connect as usual. On my PC the dongle still works fine for now. I updated the driver on my laptop just in case but it simply does not want to work. When I use the USB-3 to USB-C adapter it works fine, but somehow the dongle won’t get recognized by my laptop and, as stated, suddenly not on my phone anymore.

Any suggestions on why this might be? I can somehow make do with the adapter but why did the dongle suddenly stop working with my phone as well.

I have the same problem. Does any one know the sollution? 

It works fine with the cable, but it doesn't find the headphone on the Switch and my phone.

My partner just started having this issue. She’s been using her Razer Barracuda X for around 7 months and suddenly the dongle won’t work with her laptop’s USB-C port. The port itself works fine but she connected it to a USB-C to USB adaptor and it works fine. Hope there’s a fix to this!

I think we need all to contact razer, i have a bug with my mouse too who haven’t 1 years

I am also facing the same, it has been working fine from past 1 year. No it just does not connect.

Can Razer support team reply on this thread. Seems like multiple people are facing the same issue.

seeing that this brand is ignoring this problem for FOUR MONTHS is unacceptable….looks and brand image is nice but the product quality and customer support is trash if you ask me. No one is there for us man. I bought this product in Turkey, they dont even have a distributor here. I dont think this is an American company, even though they are giving that image, what we are dealing with Asians oversea.

Hi all, anybody found a fix yet? My issue is similar. Bought this headset perhaps a year and a half ago. Was playing games and everything was fine up until today, where I set my headphones down to go use the toilet. Came back and the Bluetooth connection was disconnected. Could not get it to reconnect no matter what I did.

Maybe it has reached the end of it’s life, I am not too sure.

I have the same problem on my phone (samsung a12 ) and it worked yesterday and its only with my mobile. At my friend's phone it works idk why . Is there an solution for this

Same thing.  Works fine for a few days and then all of a sudden, no matter how i plug in the usb c dongle, the PC just won’t recognize it.  The barracuda doesn’t show under sound devices.

Try using the adapter from usb to usb c .it worked for me

Tried everything I can think of, with number google pages just from a search “razer barracuda x dongle issues not appearing”  you can see that there are tons of people with the same issue.  I’ve exhausted everything.. really frustrating, this was a brand new headset after the first power button stopped working.

i have the same issue, tried everything nothing works i even tried placing it on my phone to see if it will worked as i it did before but no luck. anyone have got any luck with this issue?

i bought the heatset in july 2023 and it didn't work from one day to the next. Everything was perfect before that. Even if I try to connect it with an adapter, it doesn't work. i think this USB port is simply defect.

Had my barracuda x for 6 months with constant connection issues. Dongle would’t be detected on boot and would have to be unplugged and reinstalled, mic quality would randomly crap out multiple times a day and have to switch from dongle to bluetooth and back. Now the mic quality is permanently bad with the dongle, but no issue with bluetooth. Tried installing new firmware and even though it detected the dongle, it would crap out after 5%.

Ok so same things happened to me 2 headsets in a row. All of a sudden i restarted my computer and then the darn thing keeps saying pairing.

-Try pressing the power buttons 3 times(it will say ultra sonic audio, pairing) press it 3 times again and it should just queue and audio and switch and will not say pairing. Check your default sound settings and check if they work.

-if they dont download, search up barracuda x rzo4-xxxx(first 4 numbers) driver download. Download that. Run that then follow the instructions. 

-If that doesnt work, close the installer, unplug dongle and make sure headphone is turned off and not plugged in. Go to device manager, audio devices and right click uninstall your headphones drivers. Restart PC. On start up, trying running installer again and follow the instructions. Once you plug in the dongle the pc should install the drivers on there own. but i still had to run the program to get my computer to recognize it. The program will ask you to insert dongle, and power on the headphones. I plugged in the headphones for good measure (I have a usb extension for that short POS)

It should be successful and you just need to press the power button 3 times till it connects to your computer.

These are the steps that I followed. Only thing for me though is it wasnt detecting my dongle through the usb to usb-c adapter cable. I plugged the dongle directly into my usb-c port on my computer. If you have one of those.

This happened out of the darn blue in the middle of the night. I love these headphones. Sucks they have so many issues. They also have really good qualities too.

Guys, I think I've done it.

I had the same exact issue with the 0380 dongle. Headphones not pairing, dongle was not reconized while connected... I've done a bit of research, ordered a integrated circuit for replacement and resoldered it on the pcb of the dongle aaaaaaaand...IT WORKS, my headset is now working wireless again!

(defective IC on my finger for sizing purpose :)) )

"I have the same problem: when I use the dongle with a laptop, it works fine with the phone as well, but with the adapter on the PC, it recognizes it for a while and then disconnects on its own. I uninstalled 7.1 because they say it causes the disconnection. Can I apply for warranty?"

Took a couple of tries but this worked for me. Had the headset for like 10 months and stopped pairing while watching tv on the pc

My problem is my headset is not greeting with the pairing utility or the firmware update utility but the doggle I bought as a replacement is reading fine anyone know what would be the issue with the headset . 

Any advice or thoughts would be greatly appreciated the headset does turn on it will work with the audio cord it will flash Blue slow and blue fast when it's powered on by itself but it will not pair or read with the software and to let y'all know my headset is the barracuda x 2021 version same with the dongle


same issues, had for few months now. used fine one day then next morning nothing would not connect dongle to pc even w the usb cord. i tried yalls firmware links and it wont go past the step to plug dongle in. headset turns on and green light will go solid like connected but nothing. have to us aux cord. they need to do a recall this ridiculous i love my razer gear but not headset def sub par compared to rest. never had issues with any others like tb astro triton etc.
