Brand New Razer Basilisk V3 - Scroll Wheel Not Working | Razer Insider
Skip to main content

Hey all,

Just today I received a Basilisk V3, opened it about 15 minutes ago and noticed that normal scrolling on the scroll wheel does not work. Pressing the mouse scroll in, switching to smooth scroll and side scrolling all works but normal scrolling doesn’t - smooth scrolling or not. I have tried:

  • Plugging into a different USB port
  • Closing down Synapse and trying to scroll
  • Updating the mouse firmware
  • Resetting the device via Synapse

All to no effect. My old mouse, a Basilisk V2, scrolls just fine no problem.

Any known issues/help? Or am I just returning it?

Cheers.

About a week ago I started having the same problem, but in reverse way, tactical spin works but free spin causes something like a short circuit (?). The mouse tries to connect and disconnects at the same time. It used to be nearly ok (with free spin circuits), until I installed new firmware (which Razer support pushed on me), now the mouse doesn't work anywhere, no matter where I connect it, I have the same effect. After disassembling the mouse, it turns out that everything works perfectly, except when I disconnect the scroll. After connecting, the same effect occurs immediately. There is some conflict, I suspect at the programming level.
I’ve this mouse +/- 3 years, and it can works more, but updates somehow destroyed it.

same issue here, have had it for a year and scroll wheel is completely unresponsive

I had this problem, and after some frustrating back-n-forth with support, one of the things they had me do was completely de-install the razer synapse software, delete any razer folders too, reboot, and reinstall the razer synapse software.

That worked !!!

mouse no longer makes a clicking sound when starting up my computer, and the magnets inside the mouse seem to be functioning again, so that the scroll wheel feels like it clicks/bumps when rolling it.

Hopefully this helps the next person.

may I ask if you use the synapse 3 or 4?

This is really awful quality issue by Razer. Last week my deathadder V3 pro had mouse wheel issues. Tried everything  they support addressed(took something like 7 emails) and eventually had to replace my mouse hardware via  local reseller. What happens today ? Of course my Basilisk X Hyperspeed V3’s wheel doesn’t do anything. It doesn’t matter if it’s BT or 2,4 Ghz. I’m using that mouse for office / work stuff and now mouse is useless. Tried already all the same tricks as with deathadder, no help. I can switch from mac to pc and problem remains. With Mac there is no Synapse what to delete.

So Razer, after using your products since Razer Boomslang.(btw wheel still working) Bye bye, i’m going for Logitech. You can’t publish low quality products like this.

SOLUTION: if you go to the bottom of the mouse switch it off and then to Bluetooth mode and then to 2.4 again it starts working again.

Do not ask why this works IDK (:

Installed a Brand new  Basilisk V3 Pro 35K (had an older gen installed before) and scroll button would not work even though config etc looked ok. Did as you suggest and it worked. Thank you very much 😍

I had this issue, went and bought another mouse that was useless, plugged in the V3 for kicks and the scroll was magically working!!! Mabye it just needed a rest?

Had the exact same issue … got it fixed by hitting the mouse a couple of times on my desk!!! (no kidding). The free wheel was slow as well … it’s all back to normal now 😂

I had the same Issue and I couldn’t figure it out for the life of me. The mouse is 1 week old and I just had a windows update last night. I tried the mouse on a different pc and trying all of the above suggested but what finally made it work was switching profile with the mouse button and then switching to bluetooth and then back to 2.4. for some reason this fixed it. not sure which thing exactly or the whole combo but I hope it helps someone out there.
