Hi, new here, just started using razer products, I just bought a razer barracuda X headset, with wireless and bluetooth support. I'm using it for PC with the wireless dongle. All is well, but when I turn on my pc or restart windows and power up the headset, it just won't connect, tries the wireless and then the bluetooth pairing. The only thing I need to do is just unplug and replug the dongle; it's not that much of a deal, but is this supose to happen do I need a driver or software for fixing this? My windows version si 10 19045.2364 build. Does anyone have a solution for this, would be much appreciated! Thank you and have a good day!

I had the same issue, and i did a little “research”. Turns out there’s an official pairing tool for the barracuda x:

How to use the Razer Headset Pairing Utility

No need to uninstall drivers. Worked for me.

Have EXACTLY the same problem with my new Barracuda X (2022)…. did anybody solve this problem? Is there a solution, OR will I really have to go for a different headset?

Same problem here with the barracuda X, pairing tool doesn’t work as a solution since it seems the usb c dongle isn’t detected after windows restart, and the pairing tool needs to detect for it to work. The only way to get windows to detect it is to unplug and re-plug the dongle. This is disappointing because the only usb C I have is on my motherboard, so I have to turn my whole computer around just to get the headset to connect.

Hopefully we can get a real solution here soon..

I don’t know if there’s a difference between Barracuda X and Barracuda but this isn’t working for me.

I had major issues yesterday with the connection, which forced me to completely remove everything.

I uninstalled all drivers, driver for dongle, updated firmware etc.

Now connection is back and headset isn’t turning off after 5 seconds.

But i’m back to having to unplug and replug the usb c dongle after every boot. I’ve paired the device 3 or 4 times.

Same as everyone else. I did an RMA and everything and I’m still getting the same issue. Unisntall/install drivers, try different ports (direct to USB C port, using the USB A to C dongle, etc). I’m on Win11 and so far I’m just using the amazingly long USB A to C adapter to keep the dongle in a somewhat easy to get to spot so at least when I disconnect reconnect the dongle it’s not entirely inconvenient. My guess is gonna be that it’s potentially a Windows 11 issue since it seems most of the product assist thingies are for Windows 10 (the 7.1 surround sound, for example).

nope im using window 10 and im having same issue, has to be a software issue, it why razer recommends unticking the “turn device off feature” is the usb power setting. once the dongle gos into sleep mode it wont turn back on until you unplug and replug it in but once the PC powered down it will automatically go into the sleep state and wont turn back on when booting.

I also tried unticking that option, as well as the “let the PC turn off the port so it can sleep” (or whatever) feature - no results there for me.

Barracuda x 2022
Same problem. Tried USB power options and pairing util. No luck.
Also wrote Razer. They suggest I install synapse… what? It’s Barracuda X 2022. Not supported by Synapse.

Please wake up Razer.

Same problem for me too.  Have tried everything mentioned in this thread but still not working

I too am having this problem. It was working before the last update to synapse. Nothing I have done (uninstall, ect) has fixed it. I have a Barracuda X also.

At least I am not the only one getting this issue, the more people get this issue, the more chance there is Razer will fix it

Just to bring it up again. The Problem still exists.
Is it already adressed, or is there any hint or advice yet?

I found out that Barracuda X itself doesn’t have a problem.

Barracuda X plus however has ther problem. (If your box says Barracuda X with Bluetooth logo on it, it’s X plus)

I ask support to Razer team and all the thing they suggest is

  • get a exchange
  • Airblow the USB slot
  • Try to use Synapse (while Barracuda X plus can’t be used in Synapse)
  • get a refund

I don’t know why they call themselves as “Technical” support.

After taking a look those ‘support’, I see what would happen if I use some pricy product in future. This would be my last time using Razer product.

Hey all. I’m sure it’s not the same for everyone, but I suspect that this setting could be part of the problem for some (see screenshot, this properties window is from the device manager, for me, under “Human Interface Devices” → Razer Firefly V2).
I just recently built a new PC with a new install of Win11 Home 22H2 ( around 8/2023), (I didn’t have this issue on my previous pc with the same devices). I’m having this issue with both my Firefly V2 (Mousepad) and the Kraken V3 Pro.

Much like the thread title, every time I shutdown and or restart, I have to unplug and re-plug the USB Dongle for the headset and the usb cable for the mousepad, and then they auto connect and work right away. If this power management setting is the issue, it kind of makes sense; it sleeps the device but doesn’t wake it properly; and then unplugging, re-plugging reestablishes the connection.

*I was able to fix this issue for my mousepad by changing the setting I highlighted.

****I had to track down which item in device manager was the proper device for the Kraken V3 using a third-party tool. It’s just labeled as “USB Composite Device” and there’s a bunch labeled that. There’s no power management setting for this one so I’m not sure how else to check if that’s enabled for this. Or maybe because it’s not labeled as Razer Kraken, that means there’s an issue with the driver, even though I’ve tried reinstalling it.

I’ll keep fighting the good fight and share if I make progress any progress!

Also Razer support is upsetting, it seems if it’s out of warranty they don’t provide any kind of support nowadays. Never used to be that way in my experience. I personally have been exclusively using razer for both work and home and it’s just a bummer to see that level of service. Thanks for reading!

Hey definitely, it's called USB Device Tree Viewer. I'll share the link I grabbed it from. It's pretty cool, after running it, it showed me the name of the headset and exactly which usb device pid it was. Then you just need to double click each unnamed USB device in device manager and check, I believe under events tab and it will tell you the PID of it.

*PS this site has those sketchy ads that say "download" so make sure you click the right one towards the top. The second link is has the official github link but I went lazy and grabbed a zip from the first one hah. I hope this helps! I was able to at least identify which unnamed device it was in the device manager, which is a good start

same i done everything so far Razer recommended and thing that already commented in this forum but nothing has worked. Just Waiting for Razer to look into it and release a update for the device.

Hello everyone, I also had the same issue. Also tried everything above and nothing worked for me, BUT today what @NotSoad mentioned worked. Unlike him tho i don’t have a yellow usb port on my pc itself but i do have that on my Monitors built in USB hub, and connecting to this with the usb-a to usb-c adapter worked. If anyone is wondering there is no noticeable additional audio latency or worse audio quality i could notice.

I resolve this issue on my end by doing these steps:

  1. Pair your device using the Pair Utility
  2. Update the device firmware
  3. Plug in the dongle using the USB Type-C to Type-A cable that was provided with the headset,
  4. Connect the cable to your USB port (***Very Important. Make sure to connect it on a 2.0 USB port)
  5. Change your USB power plan by following this tutorial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTtzzvGNFAo&ab_channel=WebersWonderland.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

I have one solution, intead of using Razer dongle you can use bluetooth adapter and connect through bluetooth.

Works for me in win11

After weeks, talking to Support, they making me use the “pairing tool”…   everything is the same. 🤦🏻

It works for some days…   and then goes back to not working again, forcing to unplug and replug.

How this company can get away with selling products so expensive that work so bad?

I’m having same problem. The funny thing is that the old version of Barracuda X doesn’t have this problem. My old one was made in 2021, and have plugs on middle of dongle, not the side. Also, it plays melody when it turns on or off, not that weird mechanic lady voice.

Anyway, with that version, it was perfect. But the current one is a disaster. I already got exchange once but having a same problem. I think I have to find some other products...

Since a few weeks i have the same Problem. No Solution so far.
I tried an other USB-Port with an USB-A to USB-C adapter and tried to uninstall the Device and reinstall it, the problem continues.
I'm running WIn11 22H2.

Anyone has an idea?

Please tell me, does everyone have a dongle with a connector not in the middle, but closer to one of the sides?

I’ve RMA’d several barracuda X and pro for other reasons but they all have this issue.

There is no real fix apart from yanking and reseating the dongle.

Frankly, if you want a good experience (except for the unboxing, which is fun) you shouldn’t buy Razer.

I’ve been a fanboy because i love their MMO/MOBA mouse lineup. These work fine though they break after 2-ish years. Had some money to spend, so I bought a load of Razer peripherals and a chair(1000+ euros). The only thing I’ve never had any issues with, is the chair. The rest will break, not work out of the box or just be an unpleasant experience.

At least that’s how it’s been for me. Credit to the RMA tho, they will try to help and without a lot of fuss replace your product (most of the time, 1 time it took me over 3 months) but yeah, that’s my 2 cents coming from my personal experience. NEVER will I buy anything other than the mice ever again. EVER.

I have one solution, intead of using Razer dongle you can use bluetooth adapter and connect through bluetooth.

Works for me in win11

If you game, you will want the dongle instead of BT
