I justt boughtt this Blackwidow v4 pro a couple months ago and its double typing. sttarted with just a single key but now severall more within a week and also more frequently. trash. all of my razer peripherals have problems like tthis

I have the same issue with my Razer Pro Type Ultra, the work around I found was to set windows settings for keyboards to remove repeat or unintentional key strikes, you can adjust settings for different categories, just experiment to you can still type double letters in words like bee, or settings, etc (as well as backspace)

In Windows settings

  • Accessibility
  • Keyboard
  • Filter keys *On*

Under filter keys, set

  • Ignore quick keystrokes
  • Ignore unintended keystrokes
  • Ignore repeated keystrokes

Just found some guy on reddit who posted this link:

https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/System-Miscellaneous/Keyboard-Chattering-Fix.shtml

Its a program that detects and erases double key presses, and it seems like it works regardless of if its a hardware issue or not. Have not tried yet as mine is not that bad and a virus is not worth fixing it at this moment, but probably will try sometime in the future.

Figured this might help some of you if you’re still using this keyboard.

I have the BlackWidow V3 Mini Hyperspeed and have had the double typing problem for a while - it has gotten quite bad. Firmware up to date as of today, 8/5/2024.

I just installed the keyboard chattering software mentioned by trendaeroLumber857 above, adjusted it to 100ms and it fixed everything. I turned off the sound option when it fixes errors because it was happening constantly. I didn’t realize how bad it really was.

Although the software is from 2014, I installed it on Windows 11 successfully without the need for any workarounds. No virus alerts yet.

Same issue here with the V4 Blackwidow Pro 100.  At first I thought it was just me and how I was typing but I have had this keyboard for almost a year and this issue started happening recently with first the ‘D’ key and then the ‘K’ key.  It’s so frustrating for me because I use my gaming rig as a home lab for different hypervisor setups that involve me typing credentials a lot, not to mention just TYPING on this keyboard should not have any issue for almost $400 CAD!  I think I am done with Razer for good.  I have been a solid customer for many years but this was kind of the last straw. I’m typing this on the new K100 RGB I just got and it’s been great so far.  Sorry Razer, you lost a good customer.

And YES I did try to fix this by uninstalling/reinstalling/closing Synapse/updating drivers, firmware and different USB ports (i have never used a USB hub for peripherals which would be silly anyway).

Is there any solution to fix this?

Thank you in advance.

Here’s what I did to fix this problem:

Get a good grade of Isopropyl Alcohol, at least 91% or higher, an eye dropper, and a Q-tip. Pry up the key. Put a drop or two of the alcohol directly into the switch, and press it several times to work the alcohol into the switch. Clean up with the Q-tip. This worked for me. The problem is caused by a lubricant that they used in the switch that can spread around and cause electrical issues. The alcohol evaporates the lube and fixes the problem.

Do this for all the keys that are double-typing.

After I got a replacement 7 months ago (you can find my post in this thread),  the new keyboard is having issues again. It is starting like last time, just every once in a while with a key or two, so for now it is bearable. I assume that either my warranty no longer covers this, but I have not checked. Even if this is covered, the lifespan of this keyboard is just atrocious.

I suggest to anyone considering buying a Razer keyboard to try their luck with another company. There is a clear lack of quality control.

It took me just 2 minutes to realise why this was happening,
And I was able to have typings 3 times also.

This usually happens when you have two instances of Synapse running, It is possible if you have multiple user accounts in your system.
Please go to task bar then users and logout other user and test if issue is still there. Like if it helped.

Its still faulty software and Razer should have fixed that. Because Windows is a multi user system per se.

Last time I heard software has problems with multi users was sometimes in the 90s.

I expect more when I pay 100€ for a keyboard, therefore I never buy Razer again.

My logitech works just fine.

This double write error occurs when using 2.4Ghz Hyperspeed Multi Device and has not been fixed yet. I recommend you to use the dongle of the device you are using and use the other device with a cable.

You’re lucky if that’s what your issue was and if having 2 full and separate instances of Synapse caused it (how tf did that happen in the first place?  lol).

For me, it happens on my gaming rig which has only one installation of Synapse AND it happens exactly the same on my work laptop which has NO TRACE of Synapse installed whatsoever.  I am still using my K100 RGB and it has been amazing so far.   I was looking for a new keyboard for work and saw the nice looking Razer products but for the first time in probably 15 years, I am saying nope.  Not buying another Razer product ever again.

I got the Black Widow V4, and I also have this issue only few month after buying it. I’m still using it, it’s very annoying when we have to type code and every letter can literally cause an error. Even when I type this sentence, the double key happened. But for me, it’s the L key, it double types or show up when I didn’t click it

Hey ! I finally find a solution for that. This is not a software issue but a mechanical one. Just remove the keycaps (keyboard off), and put few drops of isopropylic alcohol on the switch and spam it so that the liquid penetrates well. Let it dry 30/40 min. The operation work fine for me (double e typing everytime). If this could help some and prevent them from throwing away their keyboard or worse buying a new one from razer.

If razer reads this :  beautiful keyboards should’t hide a shitty conception, no need to garantee 50M hits when they barely do 10%

This was 100% my fix. The keyboard was horrible and double keyed, spammed and didn’t work (all random at random times on random keys). I popped they key caps, dropped some 91 Iso. Alcohol and IT WORKS. I am trying on it now and no mistakes at all.

Thank you SO SO much byteDarkMossGreenOPAL437. I love you.

Hey guys,

I had the same issue with my V3 tenkeyless for the last 1,5 years on and off. The manual firmware update perfectly fixed the bug for me. Thought it was a mechanical issue, but its not. Try manual installation!

Guys, a while back I posted that my black widow V4 is also having this issue where random keys getting pressed down randomly, this causes a tons of headache when I write code. This morning, I tried to install the newest patch for this keyboard, but computer was not able to detect it during the installation. (It was able to detect it from Synapse, and I brought from Razer.com so it can’t be fake or anything.) I gave up and moved on. But as I was about to replace the Black Widow with an older Huntsman (Yes, I’ve been buying and using Razer for years), I have realize that once I unplug the USB connector, the issue went away. (There are 2 connectors for Black Widow V4, USB, and the keyboard.)
I suspect that USB was interfering with the keyboard’s functionality, which is causing weird press downs on random keys. I hope Razer fix this, or this information can help some of you out there that are still searching for an answer.

My V4 is still less than a year old, I could still get an replacement, but I have experience that I went to get a new replacement, but the new one start to have issues shortly after I get them. And I feel bad about getting the replacement again so I took it as a lost and moved on. Therefore, this time, when it comes to the keyboard, I have decided to just move on until I resolved the issue.

Overall it looks amazing, the LED and quality is top notch. I love the design, but I couldn’t use it in the office because it’s so loud. I wish Razer release a ultra quiet one with very very light keys, (very easy to press down) for us who works in-front of the computer all day in an office.

An update to the solution I have posted last week, the solution does not work. It worked for a short few days, and the issue slowly start to appear again…. I have ended up switching back to huntsman. Maybe I’ll try to find a different keyboard from some other brand..

This only worked for about a week and it started up again. I suspect contact degradation from over lubrication in production.
