Razer Blade Pro 17 2020 Ram Issue

I bought the below 64GB ram kit to upgrade my 2020 Razer Blade Pro 17. I'm having BSOD and sometimes it just stays in the razer logo forever. When I insert the original Ram that comes with the computer, I don't have any problem. As a test, I installed in one slot the 32 GB (HyperX), and in the second slot, the 8GB (original that comes with the laptop) and the computer work fine. The issue happens only when I connect both Hyper X Ram 64GB.

I reset the computer to factory settings, and updated the BIOS to the latest version 1.03 but the issue still present. Razer please help!!

See the amazon link below for the RAM I bought.

The issue is the BIOS and Razer need to address that. I couldn't wait for Razer and I just returned the Hyper RAM and I bought two of the Samsung 32GB DDR4 2666MHz RAM. The downside is the speed 2666MHz but it is running fine.

hey thanks for letting me know buddy, I think I will stick with using one of the HyperX dimms + one of the dimms that came with the computer.

I will chase Razer on this tho until I get more answers about when we can expect an update that resolves this problem.

Is this what you bought

HyperX 2x 32 2933mhz
Part Number: HX429S17IBK2

I bought this RAM and have tried it on 3x separate 2020 Razer Blade 17-inch laptops. Every Razer 2020 17-inch will BSOD. I also tried to update the Bios Firmware on one Razer but this did nothing. Also, I tried 64GB 2x32Gb HyperX 2666Mhz in the first laptop before buying the HyperX 2x 32Gb 2933Mhz RAM. Both HyperX 64GB Ram set speeds produce a loop and reboot of BSODs in the early 2020 Razer Blade 17-inch Laptop.
Hey Guys,
I don't know, but why can't Razer provide the RAM information / problems for our "Razer Blade Pro 17 (Early 2020) and its capabilities as information for us users.
But nice that all here have tried all possible RAM bars. Saved me a couple of different RAM purchases.
I tried the "Crucial Ballistix SO-DIMM Kit 64GB, DDR4-3200, CL16-18-18-36 (BL2K32G32C16S4B)" in my new Blade and got it up and running. Unfortunately, luck didn't last long with the 64GB from Crucial and my NB always got stuck after a few minutes. The yield with the desired MHz was not what I had hoped for (2666Mhz) and XMP with BIOS 1.03 does not work either. The blade didn't even start.
I have now bought 2x 32GB bars from Samsung and the NB started without any problems or automatic adjustments.

Clearly the RAM doesn't have the best CL | tRCD | tRP | tRAS values, but it works without problems, gets 2933MHz (like the 16GB Stock RAM bars) and that's the most important thing for me.
I don't want to wait 6x months until I get feedback from Razer / a new BIOS appears and then I can buy a Ram bar that delivers a "few" better values.

So I hope I can help you or the upcoming users who buy a Razer Blade Pro 17 and upgrade to 64GB.

Hello, I also tried upgrading my Razor Blade Pro 17 today, using 2x32GB HyperX 2933/CL17 DDR4 RAM.
(I also submitted this case to support)

The machine boots with 64GB, but Windows would BSOD soon afterward. I actually managed to start Forza 4 and start playing the first time, but then...

I was curious, that perhaps one of the sticks was defective, so I tried with only one, and then only the other 32GB stick inserted into one slot. The machine worked fine.

Then I put in one of the original 8GB sticks into the other slot, and the machine is still working fine with 40GB of RAM since. No issues so far. I tried swapping both 32GB sticks, so they are also OK.

This seems to be a BIOS issue (to me), as only the 64GB configuration is problematic.

It would be nice to get advice on this quickly, as I can still return the RAM for a full refund if using them both is not possible for some reason.

Thanks!

Personally, I've also used the HyperX Impact 3200MHz RAM sticks after reading through many reviews and recommendations by enthusiasts. Though I use an Blade 15 Advanced (2020) for this case.
It works well on my end but requires BIOS v1.04 for my case. This is my CPU-Z validation submitted for reference: https://valid.x86.fr/zn6bs2

Hey there! Thanks for posting your Razer Blade Pro's concern here. I'll cascade and send feedback to our Support Team. Please send me your email address or case number via PM so I can check its progress. I'll wait for your follow-up.

Hey everyone! Please check this thread. One user mentioned that using Kingston Technology HyperX Impact 32GB 3200Mhz DD4 CL20 SODIMM helped him achieve the memory speed without enabling XMP on the BIOS page.

Feel free to update this thread.

Just to add on, upon installing the RAM modules. It will restart several times to 'sync' the memory speed (not to worry about it going bonkers for the first 60 seconds). Following that it runs smoothly without any issues to date.

I have checked the BIOS settings and XMP is automatically enabled to 'Default profile', in this case, 3200MHz.
There's also two additional XMP settings, XMP profile 1 (similar timing to 3200MHz) and XMP profile 2 (slightly faster timing but at 2933MHz).

At least you managed to recover the system and flushed the BIOS settings to default. Should perhaps return the non-functioning RAM sticks back to the seller, or just sell it off to recover some of the funds.

Yes I've sent the upgraded RAM back to the seller, they did work but just not with stability in this laptop, very frustrating. I just want to know which 64Gb sticks will work in this machine, without sacrificing performance!

Personally I used the exact same sticks as yours (2 x 32GB at 3200MHz), but I'm using the smaller 15-inch Advanced model.

I have noticed that HyperX Impact does come in 2933MHz variants too, though I'm not exactly sure on the compatibility.

I read someone else's comments in this thread regarding the 2933mhz and unfortunately they saw the same issues as with the 3200mhz, very frustrating! It seems that Samsung is the only set of sticks which work with stability, but they're so expensive. This laptop should be able to handle compatible RAM, but it just doesn't seem to!
guys, check out this post on another thread:

I've replied to your PM. Thanks for the these photos. I'll create a case and forward this to our Support Team.

Hi @techno_hideo_ ! Thanks for the PM. Please send me photos showing the error/stop codes too. Save the files via Google Drive or to another online drive account then paste the link in your PM. Let's continue from there.
It is very hard to post a message in here actually, got lots of permission denied intermittently. Can you also fix the Forums ...

Here is the answer I got from one of "Senior Techicians"

Hey Razer, you better re-evaluate your employee. or I might change my faith to other brands.

I don't think this guy even a qualified entry-level

Really really disappoint
I've got the HyperX impacts 2933Mhz in 2x 32Gb RAM as well. With bios 1.04 and EC FW 1.01 I've been able to get past the blue screens I was having. Unfortunately games still crash when running on the 2933 profile. If I use the 2666mhz profile things are stable. I'd like to run it at 2933 but not sure what else to try.

Ok, managed to recover it by reinstalling the HyperX RAM, then booting into BIOS and using the 'Restore Factory Settings', then "Save and Reset" and turn off immediately using power button, then reinstall the stock RAM and boot, all fine now fortunately!

Any updates with anyone? Currently looking to get 64GB of the fastest best RAM and not finding any results that aren't conflicting...

I've tried 3 different sets of the 64GB hyperx 2933mhz and 1 set of the 64GB hyperx 3200mhz. Had more success with the 3200mhz modules but games still crashed. My laptop is now being RMA'd. Will update when I get it back.

Interesting that you've sent off the laptop when this actually seems to be a standard issue, not one just affecting your machine? They don't need your laptop to diagnose this, they could use any Razer 17 Pro so I'm afraid to say that you may have wasted your time sending it off.

Do let us know the outcome!
