Razer Nari Ultimate - corrupt dongle due to software updates

Recent updates to Razer Synapse has bricked the 2.4 GHz wireless dongle of almost every Razer Nari Ultimate headset. I’ve been using the headset for almost 3 years now and the dongle suddenly gave up working one fine day. I am seeing on this forum that multiple Razer Nari Ultimate users have been facing the same issue very recently.

The issue:

The dongle does not get detected by the PC nor does it connect with the headset. It very rarely gets detected but immediately disconnects as soon as I try to play any sound from the PC.

The headset itself works fine when it is connected via the 3.5mm jack. So this is most definitely a software issue that partially bricked the dongle from connecting/updating firmware. Using the 3.5mm jack cable is really infuriating as it defeats the whole point of buying a wireless headset. The headset also doesn’t get recognised on Synapse, therefore none of the features(such as Haptics, Game/Voice audio control, Mute button) work even though they are right there and were working fine just a few days back!

Things I’ve tried(but none of them solved the problem):
- Use Razer Nari Ultimate Dongle recovery tool; The dongle doesn’t get detected on the app most of the time. Very rarely connects but the app then hangs on clicking ‘Recover’.
- Use Razer Nari Ultimate pairing utility; The dongle doesn’t get detected on the app most of the time. When it connects, it tries to update the dongle firmware version to ‘106’ but hangs after reaching 100%.
- Reinstall and rollback to older version of Razer Synapse; no change.
- Reset Windows Audio drivers; no change.

Same here. Any idea how this can get fixed if even?

The dongle is probably bricked due to a faulty software update. So I guess the only way is to get replacement dongles from Razer. As far as I saw, Razer folks have asked people with this issue to reach out to their private messages with the Serial Number of their headsets for verification. Not sure what happens after that.

I just bought a headset about 2 months ago from BestBuy and it was working fine until I experienced the exact thing listed above. Step by step tried the same corrections, but did not resolve. The 2 times it did work as soon as I played audio out the headset bam, disconnected. This is definitely a brick issue and Razor needs to fix this sooner than later or I will return all my razor products (I have about 6 of them) and switch to another brand forever. This is ridiculous. Was working absolutely fine until yesterday, and I never authorized any update to my pc or the dongle so it would be interesting to know why it just failed all of a sudden. Unauthorized access to a personal pc is a huge anti-trust violation. Will be waiting for a reply from you Razor… can we get some help? This is a wide spread issue. This is what happened when I tried to recover the dongle:

Just sits there doing nothing. When I exit or try to restart the program it will not recognize the dongle and I have to restart the PC. so frustrating.

The same exact thing happend to me yesterday when I was playing with a friend. It just stopped working kept flashing blue on the headset and everytime someone would talk it would disconnect and reconnect over and over again. Tried unplugging and plugging into different ports still no work. Thinking I’m going to switch to Logitech if issue is not resolved or fixed.

Having the same issue. Seriously disappointing. I hope they can fix this.

Same issue, tried everything listed above, no change. :/

I even bought a new one, with a new dongle of course that was included. Same problem. Been having this issue for a month or 2 maybe 3 now with my old headset. Works just fine with the jack as stated above, though it defeats the purpose entirely.

2 Synapse and windows updates later and neither seem to have worked. I doubt sending the serial number would make any difference as an entirely new replacement doesn't help either. This is clearly a software or firmware issue imo. Quite impossible to use the recovery/pairing tools as well as the headset will only stay connected for 10 sec, if connected at all.

Please  Razer, fix this, cause if working properly this headset is amazing!

Seem no one here at Razor can be bothered to respond to paying customers….. interesting business model you are running.

Hello people, I also had the same problem with the dongle and asked help for Razer support. After several email the result was : If your product is not under warranty we cannot help you.

I made the bet to order a new dongle on Aliexpress and try my luck. I received it in less than 10 days and I m using it for a week now. Until now sound is perfect and I dont have any disconnection.

For the one interrested  I give you the link of the product page :
https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/1005005316848836.html

By the time I bought it the dongle was less than 40€… I dont think that Razer will provide a tool cheaper than this one (if it happen one day)… So for the ones that dont want to wait forever I advice you to order there and not wait for Razer help.

Class action lawsuit if they have literally rendered their product unusable, they have violated the trust act for paying customers. Might be worth looking into. How many Tens/Hundreds of thousands could be effected? @ $100-$250 each… that could be something worth looking into.

Hello,

Same problem here. I thought it was an unfortunate failure of the material until I came across this post.😮

But I don’t know if that’s good news or not. Because I can't figure out how they could update a brick dongle that is no longer readable by the operating system, unless they replace them all around the world with new ones. 🙄

May they make a com at least… because we’re gonna start talking about planned obsolescence otherwise.

I have fixed the issue many people are having. I believe that when they updated the software which was when mine stopped working it relied on the motherboard USB driver for the motherboard being up to date to work. This is why mine stopped working as soon as I did the software update on rtazer synsapse. Update your motherboard usb drivers and use the razer paring tool afterwards and all should work again. Hope this helps

It´s definitely a software issue! My dongle broked after 2 years of warranty and Razer support din´t helped in any way, just told me to wait until razer sells replacement part. Waited 3 years still no replacement part aviable what a joke. Recently i Reinstalled Windows and tryd to put my broken dongle in and it worked. At least for one minute then the synapse software told me to update for the Nari ultiamte , restared my pc and windows doesn´t find my dongle anymore. Good job , weirdly my dongle broked exactly after 2 years of warranty, maybe thats their mesh to rip off money. I´m never gonna buy a Razer headset with dongles anymore, sad as someone who haves everything from razer.

Considering that so many people are having the same problem, it’s most definitely Razer’s fault for this problem’s existence. I guess this will be the last razer product that I’ll be getting considering this thread has no replies from any of the support to issue the problem.
