What's with the BlackShark V2 Pro and breaking plastic brackets. . .

frontLividdirect596

I got my 1st head set In May 2023 They lasted me about 1.5 week before the Brackets just fell apart. I RMA them ofc and got the new ones. . . they lasted me about 5 months until now… bcs they broke again. Like the Quality of the plastic is not very good so to speak.

The same thing happened to me and the response from Razer support was “I forwarded the case to our warranty team but failed to proceed with warranty claims as after careful inspection and investigation they deemed the damage as customer-induced”.  how can that be when so many others are having the same damage???

How did you resolve the issue? Both of my hinges completely fell apart aswell.

Yup same thing has happened to me after two months of normal usage. Very ridiculous. Going through the RMA process now.

Same here. 2 for 2.

My 2 headsets broke after a couple of weeks. Normal use.

Same thing happened to me as well.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that's had this problem.

I have owned many headsets, ranging from £20 - £100. The Blackshark v2 pro was my headset from the premium range. Even though the headset cost more than I was comfortable spending, I figured was I safe buying from a reputable brand such as razer. 45 days later the right hinge snapped off. Which is completely unfair considering even the cheapest headsets I have owned have at least lasted me 4 months and onwards.

I'm going through razer’s warranty claim and it doesn't look like I'm getting a replacement or even a repair. Since “Razer reserves the sole right to determine whether a claim is eligible and/or whether the Product is defective.” Which basically means they can say just say no to a warranty claim regarding this defect. The only exception to this is, it seams is to buy razer care elite.

All in all this has a very disappointing experience.

I’m generally using Logitech for the first time due to mic quality I preferred razer, but didnt bought it directly from Razer. In this kind of scenarios, use Amazon or MediaMarkt store in order to some companies unlikely Razer cares about customer satisfaction.
Here is what happened in my scenario :

  • This was the first item that I bought from Razer.
  • Hinge went down in 2 months.
  • Written down customer support, they were keep asking same questions to delay the issue.
  • As a result they told me to talk with provider.
  • I have talked with provider which was “Amazon”
  • They immediately made a cash back on return.
  • Now I have bought Logitech Astro 50X like paid twice more.
  • But due to my past experience, Logitech directly sends new one if you have even very small problem.
  • Even logitech sends updated version of product, EVEN you are nearly END of guarantee period.
    • Like I have bought G602 but when I issued warranty, they were no longer producing G602 and they sent me G604 with NO COST and NO WAIT TIME!

As a result, this was the first and last time I have bought a RAZER product. I will never advice to anyone and they are already witnessed hinge break is chronic problem. EVEN they try to avoid it.

5 years later we will see there will be no Razer left, if they keep the same output.

Win for Logitech, I was sticking to it now I regret just one device that I didnt buy from Logi.

Hello, can you please tell how you were able to get amazon to give you a cashback on return? just like you I also purchased my headset from amazon. I tried to return them after they broke, but since the one month time was up (I was 14 days over it) they wouldn't take them. I tried to explaining to amazon support that the headset had a defective component, but they just told me to take it up with the manufacturer (Razer), which after a week of dealing customer support I have gotten nowhere.

I don't want to keep dealing with razer anymore because even if I get my warranty claim validated, all razer has to do is send me a replacement, and at this point I don't even want a new headset if its just going to break after another two months. I just want a refund and to distance myself from the razer brand as quickly as possible.

So please let me know if there is a certain process or form I have to do in order to get a cashback, a refund or just something that doesn't result in a total loss for me. I have never had to make a warranty claim before, or even a return, so I am completely new to this, and Razer definitely isn't making it easy on me. So any and all advice you could give me would help me out greatly

Sharing my experience as well - First headset showed cracking on the plastic on both sides. Warranty replacement through Razer.

Second headset not even a month later showed one side cracking. Warranty replacement again.

I didn’t get as far as the plastic breaking off, probably because I happened to see it first.

Very disappointed this keeps happening.

Exact same thing happened to me, im on headset 2 and i can see it actively happening again. it appears it is a issue *almost* exclusively to the right hinge. i think its my head shape lol

Same, funnier yet, I had one such pair break down after 6 months ish of usage, went trough RMA, received a replacement and the replacement broke in  the same way after 3 months!
How is that even allowed?
Going trough a second RMA right now

Same here. The first one lasted for about 6 months before the plastic came off, then the whole ear broke off a few weeks later.

Got a refund via Amazon and bought new ones last month. Today the plastic broke off again.

I don’t think I will buy Razer headsets again ...

Same here,  1st set lasted about 9 months at least and Razer did replace them without an issue. But the 2nd pair only lasted 4 months and now they say that is was customer induced.  Bummer… Hopefully they make the hinges way stronger next time, these same threads are everywhere.

Same broken brakets here. Bought round about a year ago and broke after 6 month of normal usage.

Same here. Awful quality - I had my Steelseries for 6 years and they still work. This one breaks after 1 year. Very disappointing.

Same issue after 2-3 months of use, left hinge (if wearing) small screws ended up being pulled from their socket and parts of the plastic crumbled like dust as if it were years old. Ended up using some super glue to put what’s left back together and so far it’s ok, will get some strong tape to reinforce it. The headset doesn’t seem to like being taken on and off, something about the design or the length of the screws being used just can’t handle the stress, when really if you’re paying £70 these things should be solid and not be so susceptible to that kind of wear. When I take the headset off now I remind myself to be as gentle as possible.

Luckily there’s no issue with the sound in the left earpad.

I’ve had a wired Hyper X Cloud headset for years which are half the price of the Razor and appear to be much more durable

Seems like its always the right hand side?

Mine just broke this evening, 5 months old. Was wearing it and just felt the headband start pushing into my head..

ArtyomTheBaker

9 months of use, brackets on both sides just crumbled to dust.

Had this happen to me just a day ago, 6 months of normal use. You’d think with this many users showcasing the issue, theu’d do something about it. Won’t be buying from razer again, truly unfortunate how a premium priced headset is made so poorly.

Same issue, today after 5 months of regular use, the plastic bracket just snapped when putting the headphones on my head. I can’t even get a refund because i bought it from amazon and it states that there is no return possible after 30 days :/

Log a support case, just got mine replaced. New sku number. Retains original warranty.

My replacement headset has now broken as well. The exact same way. Just took my headphones off and the bracket popped open and pieces of black plastic everywhere. This is ridiculous. We should be getting our money back, or the product should be recalled.
