Question

razer central service.exe high cpu

Userlevel 3

Hi everyone,

Since few days I have a problem with razer central service process. This process use I mean too much of CPU, something around 12% and CPU temperature is to high +/- 45 degrees (normaly I have something about 33)… all in idle. I did windows update rollback -  nothing, Razer software reinstalled - nothing.
Maybe someone know, what I can do? this is really annoying…

I was stuck on the impossibility to update (by any way, through Synapse or manual) because each time it was triggering the faulty process and the instaler failed

Even uninstal was not working

After a lot of try, here what worked for me at least :

  1. Run the workaround wars.exe
  2. Uninstal Synapse
  3. REBOOT (tried 2 times without reboot it was not working)
  4. Run the workaround wars.exe (I havent tried without first, but at this point I put every trinkets on my side :p)
  5. Reinstal Synapse with last instaler on the website as sayed earlier
  6. Stop workaround wars.exe

Since then, after multiple reboot, a night, and different activities on the computer, no more issue

If it can help :)

Windows update fixed it for me as well

No Help for me with windows update and i never had avast installed. Ryzen cpu . idle temps go up 20c while synapse is running , with 1 core frequency lept high even if little actual usage.

the update did not fix it for me

same issue here.

first i thought it was a win 11 problem bc upgraded a few days ago.

windows 11 task manager efficiency mode help a lot (from 60° to 47°). but still much work on the cpu

then i found this topic...and after deinstalling avast its now back to normal with 40-43°

thanks insiders :)

Update: was running RazerSynapse  v3.8.0228.022311 without AVAST (to fix the high CPU issue)

Updated to v3.8.0228.022313 using the update option inside Synapse

...which immediately reduced the CPU load of WmiPrvSE (Windows WMI Provider Host service, another background service that showed higher CPU load recently, most likely due to Synapse).

Installed AVAST again.

Everything’s fine, both Razer background services and WmiPrvSE run with very low CPU load - seems Razer has fixed it for the time being

It might be, that you currently can’t download the ..13 version from the Razer website yet as some reported they still got the old ..11 version, but for me there were no issues updating from inside the running Synapse.

Thank you Razer

Just for context (which I also PM’ed to @Razer.Speedcr0ss), I am not running AVAST nor AVG, simply Windows Defender. My biggest issue with this whole thing is that this isn’t the first time Razer software has bugged out and caused high CPU utilization. The difference this time is that its actually causing crashes and noticeable performance problems so users have no choice but to voice their concerns. Other times, it might cause high CPU utilization but not temps so it goes unnoticed and most users are completely unaware. However, this shouldn’t be the norm.

To echo the sentiments of many well known tech reviewers, the Razer software suite needs a complete redo so its not so bloated and buggy (can’t even recount how times my razer viper ultimate isn’t recognized within synapse without having to restart the software multiple times or the RGB settings has a mind of its own when I reboot). I’m not saying that Logitech or other peripheral producers have perfect software but I’ve never had G Hub spike my CPU utilization or cause high temps.

I think Razer needs to remember that their awesome HARDWARE is what consumers are buying into, not bloated software that sometimes works. Synapse just needs to keep things simple and lightweight so users can enjoy what they spent their money on… the hardware. I don’t need synapse to control every aspect of my PC experience and then bugger it up later down the road when the software decides to not work.

Guys, Im posting this here too, from reddit:

My fix: What I did was just installing a previous driver from 3 months back, from this link https://www.filehorse.com/download-razer-synapse/75853/

I had lof of problems, including high CPU usage (25-30%). Use Avast, still now, with old Synapse everything is back to normal.

Thanks to Razer for reaching out on DM.

I just use Windows Defender.

Strange in terms of AV it’s always Avast, no mention of people using other AV software impacting it.

Even though excluding folders it is still impacting it.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer

C:\ProgramData\Razer

Apparently Avast released a fix, most likely to exclude Razer as a process and not just the folder/folders.

Dann Razer Synapse 3 wieder installiert.

Und dann in der Razer Synapse 3 Software ein Update gemacht.

Denn liegt da ein Update von Razer vor, was das Problem behebt.

Dann Avast wieder Aktiviert.

Has anyone fixed CPU load due to Razer Central service?
If so, please explain what to do and in what order.

Schau meine Beschreibung! (Über dir!)

My problem has been solved since March 1st, 2023, no more problems. I proceeded as follows. As already mentioned, I have uninstalled Razer Synapse 3 since February 24th, 2023.Now I've downloaded Synapse 3 again. Then I disabled Avast. Then installed Razer Synapse 3 again. And then made an update in the Razer Synapse 3 software.Because there is an update from Razer that fixes the problem. Then activate Avast again. No more problem with CPU temp. And Razer delivered an update relatively quickly.Hope it stays that way for the future.Or better yet, stop releasing buggy updates/software.Possibly create Razer Insider Beta Testers. That people can pre-test this as a beta before something like this happens here again.

What could be the problem.
I start the computer everything is fine Razer Synapse 3 works fine, but then it takes about a couple of minutes or even an hour and I see that the Razer Synapce 3 application is turned off then I look, I go to services and I see that Razer Synapce 3 and Razer Central Service are disabled, please tell me in what could be the problem? I didn't touch anything at all.

I have the same problem.

I disable the app when my pc starts and install some app light rgb light interface for temporarily until razer fixes this problem.

Same, I had it on my laptop and I noticed my battery TANKING the last few weeks. Finally discovered it was razer synapse!! I don’t even have any razer peripherals anymore…

This really help. Now is this fixed via Razer Central. Run wars.exe and kill all process Razer. Run Synapse, wait and update Razer Synapse.
