Synapse 4 on Linux!

I’m here simply to advocate for Linux support. I have 3 Razer devices, headphones, keyboard and mouse and they struggle to work with Linux. Us Linux users should not have to settle for third part software like OpenRazer. While I respect their work it should not be on them to have to make these tools. We paid money for our devices, we expect support on Linux.

i really wished for that as well.

Using bazzite and the only thing i’m realy realy missing is propper software support for my devices like i had on windows with synapse.

I’ve recently made the switch to Linux and it would be great to also get some official support. The new software looks great and I noticed it digging into the files that it might be Electron-based? Discord is as well and has a native Linux application so I wonder how hard it would be for Razer to support now

I’m migrating from Windows 10 to  Bazzite linux version and everything is working surprisingly well - except my Razer hardware :( . I’ve install OpenRazer and it does offer some support, some parts of my Razer hardware, like my Tartarus Pro, aren’t recognized. Tried installing RazerSynpase 4 with Bottles and Lutris, but the RazerSynapse Installer doesn’t work on either. It looks like the installer wants to download addtional data from Razer, and somehow isn’t granted access. Very annoying that Razer doesn’t simply put the full installer with all needed files on their site, so you can download and install everything in 1 go …

So yes - time for a Linux native Razer Synapse 4 please!

Would greatly appreciate this as I own a razorblade 15 with a huntsman tournament keyboard and dual boot with linux. It’s great but the only reason I dual boot is for synapse and fan control when gamming, Linux I mainly use for lightweight tasks as its more efficient on battery when im out, but id love to fully switch to Linux on my laptop.

I just made this forum account to come here and advocate for this. This is so extremely important right now with the concerns surrounding Windows 11’s recall “feature” and Microsoft forcing people to upgrade to 11 from 10 and making older hardware that works fine suddenly “obsolete.”

I have recently been playing around with CachyOS and Nobara running KDE-Plasma with basically zero experience with Linux and so far I love it. There are issues I’ve run into with installing certain software or finding alternatives I like but for the most part I’m enjoying the experience. But the main issue for me personally has been the lack of keymapping support for my Tartarus V2 (and to a lesser extent my new Basilisk V3 X). I use my Tartarus for my art and animation workflow and the fact I can’t find a proper alternative to Synapse has been maddening.

Also with Steam pushing Linux support for gaming this is the right time to further that support.  I’m right now having to choose between staying on Windows with all its privacy and security concerns, or simply finding an alternative to Razer that works with Linux.

I've recently made the leap to Linux from Windows 10, but I'm really missing native support for my Razer Products. Official support would make a huge difference for the gaming community on Linux. Any chance we could see this happen? Keep up the great work!

I makes no sense to not have Linux drivers! Razer needs to wake up!  Steam has made it possible and easy to play games on Linux. I am thinking of selling all my now USLESS Razer devices and never think about Razer again.

Yes, this 100%. Please support linux!

Bumping this. OpenRazer basically ruined my install because now when my huntsman is plugged in it does nothing, and when my mouse is connected to the hyperpolling dongle, it does nothing. Linux support is urgently needed!

God, please. Recently made the switch to Linux Mint Cinnamon, and while OpenRazer has helped with my mouse, keyboard and headset, (somewhat—the rgb doesn’t fully sync up, but whatever,) it doesn’t recognise my fans at all.

I realise that a lack of aesthetics really doesn’t matter that much at the end of the day, but I should still be able to get my money’s worth out of the hardware I have. (Also, I based my tower off of GLaDOS from the Portal series, and it just doesn’t come together without that simple yellow lighting!)

Solution:
Install OpenRazer + Polychromatic, then enable the daemon. This works for Razer keyboards, mice, and headsets on Linux.

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:openrazer/stable -y
sudo apt update
sudo apt install openrazer-daemon polychromatic -y
systemctl --user enable --now openrazer-daemon

You’re welcome.

Hi there Razer Team,

Pleas add Support for Linux, or at least start to officially support openrazer project by committing code and giving willing developers equipment for developing.

With all changes that have happen with privacy on windows 11 and EOL for windows 10 and great success with steam deck and steamOS there is more and more people that are using Linux. And there is still a lot of device that are not fully supported.

Best Regards

Hi Razer,

I understand the Linux market is tiny, but then again you are also the guys who made the only true left handed mouse in existence, ever. Something for which I’m incredibly grateful for given that is an even smaller market again.

Like many I have left Windows for good in the last year and will not be going back. This means I’ve lost the ability to configure my custom button binds into my different mouse profiles, which is a shame.

It would be truly awesome to see Synapse support on Linux one day soon, as the Linux market is only going to keep growing due to the direction Windows is going.

Thanks!

Please support linux! This should of came with the synapse 4 release.

Even open source solutions do not account for things like the haptics from the Kraken V4 Pro's. Letting the open source community do the job for you means the quality of your product is greatly reduced on platforms like SteamOS, especially with the upcoming new steam hardware.

Yes, but, the one time I tried to install OpenRazer, it bricked my install. I won’t be trying it again out of precaution. Plus, I’ve heard it’s really lacking some features.

this deserves much more attention!

especially, when Windows 11 sucks more and more. And there are more and more linux gaming devices (like steam deck, lenovo legion etc).

Agreed with TS, synapse need to come to Linux ASAP. There is an exodus happening right now with Proton being as good as it is. Gamers are switching to Linux en masse, the very same demographic that razer caters to.

OpenRazer works, Sortof, but macros and stuff like that is a pain to get working. For that you need synapse.

If it doesn't get fixed I'm afraid razer is going to find gamers looking elsewhere for products with actual Linux support.

Razer, please don't underestimate how sick and tired people are of windows

OpenRazer works good for mices and keyboard to change light effects. But if you need more deep support, like wireless headset, hyperspeed dongle configuration, even the newest hardware from Razer, it lacks a lot of features.

So, I vote up for Razer support into Linux. Lets hope that our requests reach someone that can make this happen.
