Yea, I had to pull the CMOS battery to bring it back to life with the Ballistix, even if I put the memory it came with back in.

Yeah same here, took a long time to get it working again, disastrous!
Has there been an update?

That's interesting, I think that the smaller 16Gb HyperX 3200 sticks have a lower CL than the 32gb sticks right? Perhaps that's related. I'm testing the HyperX 2933 64Gb tonight, I'll report back!

Update us on the outcome. The Hyper Xs have a better latency (CL17) on 2933 Mhz and if google is right, it should be faster that a 3200Mhz running CL20.
Userlevel 3
Unfortunately not faster, see my post 1 and look at the benchmarks where the 3200 is far faster, the 2933 is a close second however.
Hi guys,

I recently bought the HyperX 32 GB kit (HX426S16IB2K2/32) 1.2V running at 2666 MHz, the exact link is as below

https://www.mwave.com.au/product/kingston-hyperx-impact-32gb-2x-16gb-ddr4-2666mhz-sodimm-memory-ac39451

I chose this kit because it seems that it would be most compatible with my Razer blade pro 17 (2020 version) based on this tread, albeit slower than the included 16GB 2933 MHz RAM. I got it 3 days ago (13/1/2021), installed it and it worked fine... until today. During web browsing on Chrome, it froze my laptop. I did a hard reset and it won't boot (black screen) and I can't even get to the BIOS menu. I thought my laptop was dead but I decided to change the RAM back to the original included RAM and it boots up with no issues.

I've contacted Mwave for a refund/replacement and I'll update this thread when I hear back from them. In short, I do NOT recommend any of the Hyper X RAM. It seems to be a bad product or I just have a very bad luck.

I am using HyperX 32GB 2933 Mhz without any drama for 2 months now

Looks like I got a bad RAM then. Out of curiosity, did you change any settings in the BIOS? I left mine at the default config rather than the XMP profile one.

Running in default. Really weird how RAM is hit and miss with Razer, Lucky it only took me one try and all worked nicely.

Hrmm yeah its as if the laptop bricks RAM it doesn't like. Having said that, the initial installation was a breeze. I slot in the new RAM, turn the laptop on, after one cycle of self reset it boots to Windows. I just don't understand why the RAM can just fail after a few days. The only thing I did differently today was to put my laptop to sleep the night before rather than a shutdown. Again this shouldn't brick the RAM but it'll be interesting if other users notice a similar trend.

Just curious, what Bios version you are running on you unit?

Currently it is v1.06. Mine shipped with v1.04 but I updated before RAM or SSD upgrade.

actually, do we really know if the problem is Razer, or if it's with Kingston? Like, could it be that their manufacturing consistency is quite variable, such that you end up with some modules working with razer, and some modules not, but all of them identified with the same model/part number?

We don't actually; this is a speculation on my end as multiple users seems to have compatibility issues with RAM and Razer doesn't seem to actually state what type of RAM spec is best for upgrades. I only knew the RAM needs to be 1.2 V because of this thread (yes, I could have waited for my laptop to arrive and use software to extract that info.)

Having said all that, this is the first time that I ever had issues with RAM failure. If I do managed to get a full refund, I'm going to try and buy the same RAM as shipped (M471A1K43DB1-CWE) in 32 GB. I saw a seller on Ebay having it.

That's exactly it - I've never encountered any kind of questioning for RAM compatibility for RAM that meets the specs other than for Razer - everything else it's just "ok what spec? alright I'll buy something of whatever brand that meets that spec". it's only with Razer that I've encountered people with RAM that should work but doesn't.

good luck on the refund!

Hi Sergeantash, I have been following your issue with RAM upgrades. Is your computer still running smoothly with 64GB HyperX RAM running on Bios Profile 2 at 2666? I have tried that and had various crashes. Then I put 1 stick of 32GB into the computer and it was ok, and started crashing again. Then, the fan runs often when idling and Starup Repair does not work. When you sent your computer in to Razer for them to repair it, were they able to fix it? They suggested I send it to them.
Thanks so much.

I’ve been going back and forth with support for over a month. First they don’t support XMP then they do now they don’t.... I can’t get the option to show in BIOS.

razer blade pro 2020 bios 1.06
Ram:
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 64GB (2 x 32GB) 260-Pin DDR4 SO-DIMM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) Laptop Memory Model F4-3200C22D-64GRS
I purchased after researching found I needed v to be 1.2v so got these as others have had success with the 32 GB of same kit...
so, possible issues with HyperX and Ripjaws

I really wish there was one "just buy this and no need to worry" brand/model argggh

and considering 2021 models are here, it seems to me any issues with RAM compatibility for the the 2020 models is not going to get resolved ...

You are lucky dude. I updated the bios after replacing HyperX 3200Mhz Ram and ... not turning on anymore.

Have you tried replacing it with your original RAM back? Once, you've done that, the laptop should have a reset cycle (about 2 times max) and it will boot back up again.
RocketBoostRay
Razer pulled all marketing and support collateral see attached screenshot of what used to be on the site.
Support sent me this message followed by offer to appease me with a keyboard and mouse for free..

"We are sorry for the confusion. However, According to the team it has been recently reviewed and confirmed by our engineering team that the Razer Blade Pro 17 does not support XMP. All related articles will be updated and it will be available on our Support Site. "

so I am out the cost of RAM cant return it and Razer just says sorry we said it would do something but actually it does not do that.

The heck? When I was looking for RAM, it definitely said it supported XMP so I purchased RAM based on that. So now it doesn't support XMP... great..

Tried everything. It would not even boot to the bios picture. Only the keyboard lights was on and indicator flashed slowly. No Fan, no sounds, no picture. I was pretty sure the bios was dead. Anyway, I have a replacement now and it’s running 2x16G HyperX on XMP 3200Mhz without any issue… I just stay on bios 1.04. No more risk…
