if I have a razer rtx 2070 laptop if get this and add a rtx2080 or rtx2080ti will I get better performance? and would it even be worth it?

For performance it depends on your game setting like resolution and titles (optimization) there’s TB3 bandwidth hold the performance, probably you’ll take performance advantage with 2080ti on 1440p or higher. So for extra money I don’t think it’s worth. Your gpu performs already great and no TB3 bandwidth limitation, direct mobo PCIe speed. TB3 Egpu like Core was made for boosting ultrabook gpu performance. With gaming laptop the advantage is cooler overall temperature since dgpu off and fans can concentrate to cool cpu only, I notice up to 20 degrees cpu temperature improvement depends the title. Of course extra io ports, ethernet, and chroma for desk or battle station decoration are nice things to have.

Finally, a higher wattage power supply for beefier cards.

THIS
A much needed feature!
It looks amazing, but the price is quite high.

Looks like laptop gaming is really evolving fast, but when you think you could buy 2 cars with the money for it.
The bump up in price in EU makes it hard to swallow, I'd much rather buy something like a chroma laptop stand or a simple usb hub instead on top of a normal core X.
Still a really nice product nonetheless, keep it up razer.

Wow... That really looks mighty...

Not...
It has 50 more watts, but it goes for Chroma, Ethernet etc. GPU Max power is still the same (500W) for both (Core X and Core X Chroma).

Oh thats disappointing. So the only reason to get this is chroma.

I was waiting for the new Core X2, but this model is bigger than original, I like it. I would like add LCS system, will it be compatible?

r9 fury takes 300-350W (whole system), while vega 64 comes around 400-450W (whole system). The same system with 2080ti takes 400W and 450W with oc. Huge margin here.

Even in red team you still have quite a margin. Maybe it's good, I'm not sure how efficent this PSU is. If it's bronze then 700W seems ok.

This’s a sample why poeple need 500 Watt on an egpu enclosure. If you’ talking about whole system here’s some charts, on really extensive load it can reach 500 (whole system) and minimum recommended PSU for whole system for high end cards is 700 Watt. More wattage head room is better, again core v2 issue that I showed above is the reason why.

Thought same thing 2 years ago but:smile_:

It’s true 2080ti with OC hits 300 watt but there’s also team Red, power hunger card, idk quite well their cards but I think r9 Fury when I’m not wrong consumes quite a lot. Vega 64 was also couldn’t work well on 375 max gpu watt enclosure like core v2, and this could be handled by core x 500 pretty well, that’s why core x is well known in MacBook eGPU Vega 64 users since OS X works better with AMD unlike nvidia.

As far as I know there is no graphics card that can take 500W by itself at this point. Slightly overkill.

I was very happy to see this. Time to upgrade! And the Chroma and ports we wished for all along! Now if only there was a trade-in program...I'll just use the Core X to boost the XPS 13 now.

It's nice to see Razer NOT going cheap (ahem, Basilisk Essential, etc.) and building what we really want to pay for.

Yeah CHROMA, io ports, bigger PSU worth extra price:smile_:

Looks awesome, just wish they would have added some more ports cause im maxing out all my current USBs.

You can get rtx card with usb C port and use it as other usb extension port, if that 4 usb ports isn’t enough. I tried rtx2080 usb c port for usb c monitor sometimes and works fine.
