It'll be two years in two weeks since Razer CEO announced they were going to make Blades "the best Linux laptop" on the market. Nothing since then

Yeah, I do run Linux on the Stealth 2017 too, so what? There is no official Razer support for Linux.
There are issues with running Linux, Razer has never officially tried solving them.
This is why Razer is still far away in covering market for professional laptop users, especially having a chance to take a significant piece of the market from MacBook users which are desperately searching for an alternative since Apples has spoiled their Pro model line.
Still no alternative on the market so they either stick to the old MacBook Pro models as long as possible or buy overpriced, crappy newer models and face the struggle.

There’s still no official support page, but I saw on driver update there’s some fix for hardware drivers on Linux environment like on Razer Blade 15 before.
I don’t use Linux at all but I saw there’s Linux forum here and on GitHub, if you didn’t know it. And I heard on several forums like Reddit etc Blade laptops isn’t bad at all running it.

Any chance for official Linux support ?

I'm pretty sure the 2019 blade stealth will support linux. One of my professors actually bought a blade stealth and ran linux on his 2016 model. Maybe ask any of the linux users in the linux forum if they've done a linux conversion on the 2019 stealth. I personally have just stuck with windows and use a ubuntu terminal to do gcc or whatever I need.

I've got the Stealth 2017 model. As much as I might consider an upgrade soon I couldn't go for the Stealth 2019 due it's ridiculous keyboard layout alterations.

  • arrow up messing with shift and slash
  • tiny narrow backslash
  • short backspace
  • sneaky power off among other keys waiting to accidentally being hit while typing/plying

Sorry Razer. I haven't learnt touch typing to compromise now my work efficiency and convenience with a poor idea like this. The Stealth model line was supposed to be for professional users. There is nothing professional about non-standard keyboard layouts.

There is plenty of space on the Stealth to fit a sane yet pleasantly symmetrical keyboard layout. Here's an example of such from some old 12'5" Asus:

For those reading and not posting: this is why you don't engage fanboys - they always move the goalposts. ¯\\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for input, I like also cleaning the haters. It’s clearly you’ll have better future with better cooling. I’m not talking about QC, you can check on enthusiasts notebook forum the motherboard dead rate in one hand is holding by dellbook users, 15 mobos in 3 years.

The one I don't have to RMA twice in a row.

It’s better early RMA than sending it for repair after mobo dead right after the warranty expired. Let’s think:smile_:

Which one do you want, dellbook or stealth:smile_:

This just doesn’t excuse them for ignoring Their customers. When I’m talking to support it’s like talking to stoned people. I started a conversation with official support on the forums regarding the BIOS and EC updates not solving the discharging issue. After 2 weeks of discussing this he then asks me, if I have tried updating BIOS and EC...... It’s almost laughable at this point.

Yes I felt sometimes just like you. Not only Razer CS, every CS sometimes looks like ignoring me, even great Amazon CS. But they’re have to do check list to find the issue, and most ignoring when you’re handled by multiple CS that may to replay the check list. That was exactly what happening with me on those experiences I mentioned. On gpu defective gpu, I knew exactly why the card is dead and couldn’t run on my Core, but some CS asked me if i should Test it on other systems, laptops etc most of their CS are not prepared to handle egpu environment issues, only do from the check list, even though one of CS know why the card is dead, so I sent it for replacement.
So it’s a bit annoying but if what CS asked doesn’t solve the issue I would send the unit so they can figure it out.
Unfortunately I don’t have the unit so I can’t talk more only predictions that laptop eats more power than AC adapter can provide, and it can be limited by Bios or firmware update theoretically.

Bios Update may take time and hardware failure may happen to anyone on any brand, that’s why 14~ days free return period exists.
Idid that on Blade 14 late 2016, was quite confident knew where the problem was (under performs and uncontrollable Fans behavior). But I didn’t get replacement with same model since at that time 2017 model with new cpu just announced, so i got it instead which was addressed those issues, right after that there was bios Update for late 2016 addressed my issue with that.
I had several experiences with faulty unit from MSI laptop, Apples tablet (2 times exchanges) till got tablet that I can really use, and recently 2 times rtx dead cards from famous great Brand Evga within 2 months. On MSI laptop, I was directly giving up and got refund, because it was on build quality as well not only hardware issues. On Evga, they have reputation on CS so I wasn’t hesitant to sending my card back to get one “that free of that problem”, because I’m quite confident that the card is for my setting. Again it’s a personal matters imo, some maybe gave up and look other option.

Shill all you want but these things are absolutely riddled with hardware issues and consumers are well within their rights to be pissed off and to demand answers. They shouldn't have to send the thing in for replacement till they "get one that free of that problem".

Personally, I went through two faulty units and refunded. I'd advise anyone having trouble to do the same. If you really want a stealth then just hold onto your money until Razer actually grow up and take responsibility for these issues.

To me it sounds more hardware issue, and directly RMA. Though, why don’t you bring it to Best Buy? Idk how things going there, but if I buy from reseller I would deal with them. And 15 days warranty, or is it free refund windows? If I passed that period i would send it for repair or replacement till get one that free of that problem.

Pretty sure for thermal optimization on intensive usage like gaming, had a bit thicker mx150 ultrabook it was hot even with only white backlight keyboard.

So I have noticed the loose usb-c port and discharging issues as well. Sometimes when I sit down at my desk my laptop battery is at 0% and I have to wiggle the cable and to get my laptop to turn back on (this is from idle not even stressing the laptop)

Contacted Razer support and its like pulling teeth to get them to admit the hardware is defective. The support staff is nice and I know they are just reading off of a script but seriously refreshing my windows will not fix the port issues. Now they want me to talk to BestBuy which their warranty period is like 15 days (I have had the laptop for about 2 months now) but they want proof when they reject me to MAYBE finally issue me an RMA

I am starting to regret buying this laptop and I am not sure if I want to even purchase Razer products in the future

Does anyone have an issue with their trackpad where occasionally (sometimes often), the right side of your trackpad fails to register a LMB click when tapping (not actually clicking the mouse button) on the surface of the trackpad? And then it starts working again when you tap the left half of the trackpad, until the issue occurs again?

It seems like the issue occurs less often when I uninstalled Synapse 3, but it still happens, just instead of happening every 5-10mins, it might happen ever 2 hours.

I just asked support for the new BIOS and EC download and they gave me the exact same BIOS and EC that was taken down which I had already installed on Jan 29th. The speaker and charging issues were not fixed with that update (for me at least, haven't seen anyone confirm it fixed for them either), and clearly it already had issues since it was taken down so idk why they would give me that same bios. They say it's the latest one they have.

We, will have to wait for a bit longer. At least razer admitted that they have issues and are trying to resolve the issues ASAP. Other manufacturers are not that fast when it comes to BIOS updates that resolves those kind of issues.

Hi, I have seen that there is official announcement on notebookcheck site that anyone with the problems stated in the article (whine coil through speakers and discharge while gaming and sometimes not charging while turned off) should contact support for bios update.
My question is, why didn't razer release the BIOS update on support download page? Since this problems are occurring on most of new RBS 2019?
And should we all that have the same issue individually contact razer support?

Would it be possible to get hands on the original BIOS version to install that, in the sense, that you wouldn't be rolling anything back, but just updating the BIOS with and older version. Or is there really no way to get around this?

No so far I tried I can’t install old version, software will detect that you have newest version. Just like iOS software update. But I think the newest one always the improvement over last issues, it’s atm taken on support page, I think the revision will come soon or later.
