This worked for me when driver update didn't.

I gave it a try ... but: After that, the max volume is just around 50% from the original driver ... also less bass. So it is a solution but you pay with worse sound ... 😞
Thinking about trying the RBS again. Whats the verdict on the plugged in/discharging issue? A design flaw that every unit has or only defective units?

No charging issue with mine, suspect it might be an early production issue.

Maybe not related, but I changed the SSD in my stealth to a 970 EVO 1TB. Wasn't patient enough to wait for the external enclosure to arrive to clone my current one so I swapped SSD and installed windows on a fresh HD from scratch.

Ran updates, razer drivers ext, and surprisingly there is no crackle any more. No idea why, but a fresh install on a new SSD seems to have solved the problem.
Looking for some confirmation on an issue I had. No matter what setting changes I made in power management, nvida console or synapse when on battery my CPU would drop to about 1ghz. Playing a game I could see it's up higher and when unplugged it dropped and my fps would eat sh!t. Is this normal with the RBS 2019? Anyone else notice this?

Yap that’s how Razer Blade with nvidia dgpu (not quite sure about pro model but I think it’s same) and a lot other brands gaming laptops act like this. Internal battery can’t provide full performance on max load unlike on power adapter performance. Blade stealth 2019 with MX150, on load cpu eats up to 15 watt and gpu 25 watt plus other parts, without downclocking and other limitation on battery mode the it will run out really fast, for full performance and better experience you need ac adapter. You can check on nvidia experience though battery mode, and switch it to max performance 60fps (if there’s any), on Blade 15 it’s a bit better than max battery 30fps, but still way better with ac Adapter plugged.

Hey thanks for the info! That's to bad I'm playing an older game and all I need is maybe 2-2.5ghz. I ended up returning the RSB, sucks that thing was beautiful! So sleek and clean looking. Guess it's back to my Gpd win 2.

GDP is made for on battery usage, so probably it’ll use max cpu performance both on battery or ac Adapter on Bios/ac Firmware but laptops mostly on battery is for longer usage, so there’s setting like on nvidia experience to set it. You’re comparing Apple to Orange with gdp win btw. Stealth 2019 cpu will boost way better actually than your gdp win 2, you don’t need nvidia dgpu to play old games that could be played on gdp.
So I believe I may have found a solution to the speaker crackling noise, posted my thread here

update 1 : I confirm that the Wacom 100W USB-C charger is working without battery draining while gaming. Link to the exact model from Amazon.

update 2 : I managed to have eGPU setup working. I am using Mantiz Venus with RX580. The system automatically use the RX580 instead of the internal MX150. I am actually surprise that Nvidia driver can get a long with AMD driver in the same system. I also heard that the eGPU with AMD card is working better with the internal MX150 compared to a eGPU with another Nvidia card in it.

update 3 : I decided to keep the system. I still think it's the best system you can get for a 13" with some kind of discrete GPU. I managed to work around most of its weaknesses. Besides, it simply looks good.

I just received the 2019 Stealth MX150 1080p model two days ago and I would like to share my initial impression, good and bad, after spending most of my weekend with it.

I will start with the goods
- Absolutely beautiful build, the fit, the color, the finish, the hinge, all of them are perfect. I even like the keyboard.
- The 1080p screen is gorgeous, it's matte and bright, color are nice to my eyes
- I thought I don't care about the chroma, but it's great
- The power brick is tiny and the usb-c cable is high quality and braided.
- The MX150 is decent, I play Battletech and XCOM2, I can get 40fps with the Creator Mode enabled

The bads, unfortunately all the reported problems are still there
- Coil whine, it's pretty bad in my copy, somewhat mitigated after BIOS update, it''s acceptable now, but it's there
- Speaker crackles, it's very bad with the stock drivers, went away after installing alternate driver as described in post #335 above
- Discharging while gaming with the stock charger plugged in, My need is modest, while playing Battletech it discharges about 1% every few min.
- Fingerprint, the finish is susceptible to finger oils, so it looks very filthy after only a few days, can be wiped by damp cloth easily though.

Conclusion
- I think it's a fairly acceptable compromises given there is nothing else in the market that look like this

I am going to try hooking it up to an egpu. I have a Mantiz Venus with an RX580 that I use with my Macbook Pro at work. It has 87W PD on the TB3 connection. I will report back with what I find.

Conclusion so far
- I think it's a fairly acceptable compromises given there is nothing else in the market that look like this
- I am keeping it for now

Does your battery discharge below 95% while it's plugged in?

When I first got mine I thought that the battery was discharging, but this is normal behavior unless it goes below 95% (allowing itself to discharge a little bit prolongs the life of the battery).

Unfortunately it does. It just went to 92% after about 1h of gaming.
I just bought the Wacom 100W USB-C charger which was reported to solve this issue. I will report back once I get it.
Has anyone successfully updated their 2019 Stealth to the 1.02 bios? Just got mine today, no whine, no light bleed. It just hangs at 99%. I have installed every update besides that.

That's really frustrating. You shouldn't have to purchase an aftermarket AC adapter. Eager to hear how it works out for you though.

I think lots of folks have applied the BIOS update with success but, again, unless your battery is going below 95% while plugged in, it's probably normal behavior.

I think he meant the update progress not charging %.

I had also ultrabook with mx150 before and used it for gaming yeah it wasn’t enough deliver the power on gaming usage, good that I play on that ultrabook not long maybe not 3 hours, it was too hot too touch anyway after long session and throttle a lot. I saw around 10% an hour from around 97% to high 80ish.
So I figured a fix for the stealth with the mx150. I use an egpu with the mx150 and i was getting tons of stuttering. Just dropping 10 frames every few seconds. I found that disabling the mx150 in the device manger stops the stuttering, I know its not ideal, but it works for a smoother game play.

hi, what video card is inside your egpu? AMD or Nvidia?

I am using Radeon RX580 on mine and it works flawlessly without disabling the internal MX150.
I heard it is actually a more stable scenario with an AMD egpu.

Yeah I can't install it either. I opened a support case wit razer, they said I need to restore my entire system to factory settings and then retry the update - uhmmmmm no thanks Razer, I'm not reinstalling my entire system just to apply a bios update. Especially with the reports that 1.02 actually lowers the CPU performance. The coil whine disappears entirely for me with turbo disabled, and that's how I run the system, using Throttlestop to disable turbo - then enable it again when I'm gaming, but for day-to-day use I just have it off.

Also, I don't know how many of you have noticed - the speakers crackling issue never fully goes away. Yes, with the latest drivers it's not there.......except when you have some very quiet sound playing - then the speakers are very clearly crackling again. I suspect what razer did is they just kill the speakers entirely when there is no sound playing(hence there is no crackling with the laptop just sitting there doing nothing), but as soon as there is *anything* on the audio bus, the problem re-appears again. It's at a point where I don't care anymore, but yeah, the issue is definitely not gone, it's just very cleverly masked.

Hello everyone!
I'm interested in this device.
I do play games, but not ones that require heavy specs : I only play StarCraft II and Hearthstone, and I don't intend on playing anything else.
Do you recommand the Stealth with MX150 for this, or is the device still too weak in your opinion?

It's absolutely fine for those games ;-)

I've been playing Division 2 on mine(in 1080p and low/medium details) and it can maintain locked 30fps without any issues. Apex Legends works fine and runs at 40-50fps at medium settings in 1080p. Forza Horizon 4 runs at locked 30fps with everything set to High.

I can try Starcraft 2 if you want me to, but I think it should be absolutely fine.
I second the above poster. I am playing Startcraft II just fine. I would imagine Hearthstone is fine as well.

Do you play with decent graphics, or do you lower them? Does the laptop heat fast?
It can play StarCraft II at 1080p some blend of High and Ultra settings (as sets by Nvidia GeForce Experience) at 60fps using Creator Mode. The GPU Temp hovers around high 70s C
