Razer Wolverine V2 and V2 Chroma Deadzone Issue

So there is an INSANE issue for these controllers that can be considered a design flaw. There is something known as "intrinsic deadzone" on these controllers is about 15%-20% from what I have seen online. It doesn't matter whether or not it is adjusted in-game, the firmware takes over and makes the deadzone 15%-20% or higher depending on the game deadzone settings. An example of this would be if you set the deadzone to 5%, it would be overridden by the firmware and sets it to 15%-20%. If you set it to 25%, it would be 25%. The easiest solution for this would be to allow a software deadzone control. Another one could be a firmware update. Here are some videos/forums filled with people having this issue. CHECK EDIT 2!

This is honestly a shame because other than that, this controller is definitely the best on the market right now if this wasn't an issue. I will be sticking to my Wolverine Ultimate for now until this gets fixed.
Edit: There is another more detailed video on this issue. It is in Japanese but he has a more advanced testing methodology.
Edit 2: as of 12/3/2021 THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN FIXED! ALL U NEED TO DO IS GO TO THE RAZER APP AND CONFIGURE THE DEADZONE OPTION AND UPDATE YOUR CONTROLLER TO THE LATEST FIRMWARE!

I received this controller a few days ago, and I'm also experiencing dead zone issues. It's not fun. It's aggravating.

When I go into the Razer app on the console, I can see that the app actually registers input from the thumb sticks without a dead zone. As soon as I apply any input in any direction, it registers that input immediately. However, in Destiny 2 for example, a dead zone is very noticeable. It takes more about a 1/4 of movement of the thumb stick to register the input. Most of the time this causes over aiming. D2 doesn't have custom dead zone settings. So what's causing this? Can this be fixed?
Bought a Razer Wolverine V2 "Basic" and had to give it away to a friend because of the deadzone issue; for me the controller was unusable, but I was not allowed to return it because it's a feature not a defect.

As of July 17th 2022 the Wolverine V2 "Basic" does not have the software/firmware update that allows deadzone customization. It does not have it; as far as I know only the V2 Chroma does.

Nope, cannot be fixed as of rn, we'll have to wait on word from Razer themselves.
Hey I made the Fortnite video! The Japanese guy is a much more experienced reviewer , glad he was able to identify it with a video camera demonstration + the gamepadtester site.

I will reference this thread in my support ticket, ty for finding the Japanese review with a better demo! For others reference, the Japanese video pulls up diagnostics around 9:37 into the video.

Yeah, I hope they can fix this issue ASAP. For some reason razer won't let me put a vid with timestamps and I get this error.
Theres still no update for the Wolverine v2 ..
For the moment its just a really expensive paperweight
This is controller bigotry. The WHITE version is getting the feature, but not the BLACK. :mad_:
Support has clearly hinted that the update will only happen if there is enough demand. So I strongly recommend that you take a picture of your receipt and make a request to support.
I made a video demonstrating this issue. Please like and comment so that we have a better chance at razer seeing and making a change to this.

I did it guys. finally

Also I'd be surprised if Razer doesn't do anything soon, bc there's 55K VIEWS on the Japanese dude's video.
It's holiday season and still no deadzone fix for the Wolverine V2 basic, despite it being available for the Chroma. It's even available for the old Ultimate ffs. Shame on you, Razer.
Its literally August 1st and its still haven’t been fixed. This is just sad considering that I actually really like the controller but this deadzone thing is really an issue that should’ve been fixed a while ago. Its messed up how the chroma users were the only ones who got the update. It shouldn’t even been that hard to implement considering they’re basically the same controller. we’ve been waiting for months now.
Quick update. they seen the video and told me they would put in a feature request but they can't promise that it will be added. That was 2 weeks ago so I'm almost starting to think that we'll never get the deadzone feature. I'm thinking about taking my controller back as its useless if this doesn't get fixed. I don't want to think that their not listening to us but the more we wait what else can we think?
update: I contacted razer to see if there were any updates or progress on the deadzone feature that THEY told me they would add(as you see in the picture). Comes to find out, they aren’t even working on it. They said something along the lines of “We are still unaware of when or even if the feature is coming” This is just beyond crazy. I mean like how hard is it to add? The V2 and Chroma are basically the same controller, it shouldn’t be that hard to add. this is just disappointing considering the fact that ive had my controller for 3 months and still haven’t gotten the chance to use it because of this. All they say is that they dont have much demand or not alot of people are bringing this up but if they actually found the time to look around the web, its all over. I dont even think they’re looking at this insider forum because they would’ve fixed it by now. Its so crazy lmao.
I'm now speaking with Razer support team, and they asked me to record the issue. So here how it's work in Forza Horizon 5 (don't be afraid of Russian text in gamepad software. I explain what I'm doing in subs).

For some reason it somehow got better and from around 50% moved to 20%-30% or so. Which is still weird and makes racing unplayable.

Here what we came to, by speaking with support team:
Another user posted on the YouTube comment some insightful information:
"Got an update from Razer. They stated the deadzone issue is expected for the controller. Didn't refer to it as an issue or a bug. Just that it's expected. Acknowledge that some users want more settings added to the app to customize it. Said they are working on a update to the Razer App but don't have an ETA when the update will be."
Surprised this is marketed as a competitive controller.. having non precise joysticks is very disadvantageous especially in games when precision matters.

my deadzones are like 40% i cant even play halo its impossible to aim they better fix it soon or im returning it

Honestly bro I would return it and get a wolverine ultimate while you can that way atleast you can play without the problem and when and if the issue gets resolved you can send the wolverine back to razer and they will replace it with a chroma because the wolverine is legacy. Just saying it’ll save you that 50 dollars on a inoperative controller and still end up getting it in the long run once it’s fixed and for cheaper

Just wanted to piggyback on this. I bought a wolverine ultimate from Amazon a month and a half ago. First one I received was broken from the get-go. Base of the right stick was crooked and unusable. I contacted Razer and they said I need to return it to Amazon for a replacement. I received my 2nd wolverine ultimate in a couple days and it was great. Unfortunately a couple weeks ago, the base of the right thumbstick became unglued/loose and again unusable. This time I contacted Amazon and they said I would have to go through Razer for a replacement this time. Fast forward to now. Razer just contacted me and said they Wolverine Ultimate is now a legacy item and they don't produce it anymore. So my only option for a replacement is the V2 Chroma. If anyone was hoping to switch their Chroma for an Ultimate, you're fresh out of luck. Cross your fingers and pray Razer fixes this dead zone issue because you're probably not gonna get an Ultimate anymore.
Hey y'all! Update to the Razer Controller app - they've added Deadzone adjustment to the app!
ArcticLimeboardgreat270
Are you trolling bro I don’t see it

The Razer Controller app updated for me when I turned my box on (if you have autoupdate off, you may need to go my games and apps > manage > updates); then when I went in the app, I had to press Y for info and it alerts of a firmware update. Updated the firmware and now I have an option in my profile edit for Deadzone. I'm using a Series X and Wolverine v2 Chroma

Thanks for providing update instructions! (I am on PC and no longer have an xbox)

Can confirm what soloIVORYDarkOrchid252 said. Still on 1.0.6.0, tried both on my Xbox and PC, can't get the app to show an "update firmware" button. Vanilla Wolverine V2, but that shouldn't mean anything as the only difference between the two is that the Chroma has RGB, right?

My Black V2 latest firmware update reads as 1.0.6.0.

However my White V2 reads as 1.0.9.0.

And my V2 Chroma reads as 1.1.1.0

No issues with any of them so far.
Customer Service said:

However, as part of our ongoing security measures, we apologize for not being able to provide further support for your Razer product.

Apparently "V2 black" will not be updated. Maybe other owners should also write to support?

The support added:

We appreciate your honest feedback on this matter and have included your request in our Features Request Poll. Depending on the demand and feasibility of your request, this feature might or might not be implemented.

So... If you need a dead zone setup for V2 black, don't be lazy!))
