Recently I learned that a friend of mine uses his middle finger to scroll the mouse wheel. I thought it was the wildest thing, like it broke my brain. It was like the time I found out people hold a banana by the step like an ice cream cone. So, now I have to ask, does anybody else use their middle finger to scroll the mouse wheel? If you do, does this mean you use your ring finger to right-click?

I must know!

You are on the right track. Scrolling with your middle finger is far more efficient than using your index finger to scroll down a page - seriously, try it! The quickest way to scroll on Facebook or Instagram will be with the pad of each of your three fingers, using whichever one feels most comfortable. You'll zip around much faster this way.
I recently upgraded to the Razer Deathadder Essential, thought it was a good idea, and it kinda was, but I realized that there was a problem. The mouse was kinda big, bigger than I first anticipated it to be. I'm having a hard time getting used to this mouse. I went to buy this mouse with my cousin, and he said, that I'll eventually get used to it. is it true, I'm struggling now, but if I keep using this mouse, will I get good with it. How should I grip the Deadthadder Essential? Are there any kid YouTuber, who use the Deathadder Essential, even though they have small hands? Someone, please help me out with this

This is wild! I never considered this could be a comfortable posture for people, but I can totally see the benefits

I use both my middle and the index to scroll. I just don't think about it because it comes unconsciously. Sometimes my index tendon gets tired and I use my middle even for the left click. My ring finger is what I use for the right-click at all times.
It's a good topic this week. It's fun to read about how others use their mice lol
we've evolved multiple fingers for a reason did we not? I mean sure....it wasn't with gaming and computer mouse with scroll wheels in mind....but it works.

Ever since I've played a game where the scroll wheel was present on a mouse and had/could have a function i've used my middle finger on it and ring finger on right click. Even if scroll wheel is only a passive function like changing weapons it just makes that process smoother for me especially in FPS games when you can aim and be ready to fire all while switching weapons without reaching for another button. Always seemed natural for me. biggest issue I have is that SOMETIMES i'll rest my middle finger with my ring on the right click but because of this my middle finger will rub on the wheel and cause me to change weapons or whatever in the midst of playing when I dont mean to do so...and that usually causes a cascade effect of in the game play LOL.
Now I really feel old.
Back when I started gaming, mice only had two buttons. I remember when mice started showing up with three buttons and later the middle button was switched to a wheel.
After upgrading from a two button mouse to one with a wheel I was thinking that wouldn't it be best to use the middle finger for the scroll wheel and my ring finger for the right button? I really tried getting used to handling it like that but it felt completly alien and strange so I stuck with switching my index finger between the left button and the wheel.

i tought thats how everyones doing it, to me is just make more sense if you do it with midle finger am i right?
today i tried play some games minecraft and cod, where using scroll wheel to move tab to tab.
for minecraft maybe still ok but for me when you are on intense game switching to another tab or equipment is just slower if you do it with index finger to scroll while u have to shot at the same time

I`m one of the 'weirdo's" it seems. Index finger on left button, middle on scroll-wheel, ring finger on right button, pinky rests all the time and thumb is on 1-12 buttons since I use Naga pro. I cant even fathom using mouse differently 😃
I tried it for casual working purposes. It feels great. I can easily use all 3 fingers for 3 buttons. But while gaming, sorry but I can't land a single Bunny Hop with my middle finger, nor can I quick scope using my ring finger.

For gaming, I got for index on left and scroll and middle for scoping or secondary attack. While casual surfing, working etc.. 3 fingers are nice.

Also, the Banana thing - I do the same. My hands don't get dirty that way :big_grin_:

I mean, its not too farfetched. Like others have said, its easier to play some games that way. Me, I use my index finger to scroll. I don't think its too much extra work to switch fingers, but then again I haven't played any games that require switching rapidly with the scroll wheel.
I didn't know it was possible to not use your middle finger! I use my middle finger for both the scroll and right click, it just feels natural. But I don't know what's best for ergonomics; I just transitioned from using my thumb on left click a few months ago! I can thank the Razer Basilisk for fixing that issue lol
i use the index, always. but theres no right or wonrg i guess, your doing it right when its natural and confortable to you.

That is basically me 😂 it's actually easier for me to use the scroll wheel like this than switching index finger from left click to scroll wheel especially when playing FPS games. It's easier to switch weapon

I usually use my index finger, TBH.

Hello friends,

Proplayers probably do this to optimize fingers positioning and be competitive against their opponents.

When I eat banana, I also do the ice cream cone technique so as not to get my hand dirty. 🍌
I have to say that banana is the easiest fruit to eat.

Many people would have the same habit but not me

My colleague has the same mouse holding position, it is much better to control and react on some occasions, but not everyone get use of it

putting middle finger at the mouse wheel could have more balanced grip than putting 2 finger at the right edge side of the mouse, could even improving aiming at FPS games if people could get used to it.

Just Works!
Too much time has passed to make my brain do that without thinking.
I use my middle finger to scroll when i am on social media/online forums. But when gaming, its a no go for me.
hmmm... i just tried it, scrolling the screen with the middle finger on the scroll wheel... not really too difficult, possibly something i can get used to if i want to... and using my Naga with my left hand..?? that's a big ask for my left pinkie..!! but if it's only for moving the cursor on the screen and just the left/right clicks and scroll wheel, left hand works fine as well. I usually type with all my fingers and my right thumb (on the spacebar) but there are times where i'd type on the keyboard one handed (like if i had food in one of my hands) and i seem to be ok with typing with either hand though not as fast as when i do with both hands. sometimes, it's about a person's neuroplasticity. it's fun..!!
