[TotW] Is Less More or More, Better?

Userlevel 7

We recently announced our Razer Book which will be part of our new productivity line. You've already seen the mouse and keyboard and now we have unveiled our new laptop. It's not a gaming machine. It's a beautifully designed windows machine made for productivity. Although you may be able to play a few games on it, the focus is on the power for productivity and business. It's no secret that many people use Macs because they're prettier, amazing how often times it comes down to how things look. I can't blame them. Whether you're conducting business in your office or on the road, you don't want to be toting around some clunky utilitarian piece of hardware. Also, I think this gives Razer an opportunity to play around with new kinds of tech that will only benefit us, the end-users; the gamers for the most part.

What do you think? Do you like this direction we're going in or should we just "stick to gaming?" This is your Thread of the Week. Like and comment for the weekly random "Great" achievement. Two other comments will receive the "Nice" achievement based on their answers.

Razer is Simply a lifestyle brand. simple as that. For them to create more items and products in the productivity line is only natural. Way to go Razer for exercising the Lifestyle title.

More is more, but these seem like a fine idea.

Since few months we've seen Razer greatly expand his catalog, so I wasn't surprised when the Razer Book was launched.

The Blade Stealth was a first step towards power efficiency, even if it was still made for gaming.
In my opinion, it's just a natural evolution.

Mac has always been a reference when it comes to productivity laptops, it's a sloppy land but I think Razer can claim his share if they keep on innovating and enhancing their products.

I love it! Starting at around 1650 AUD, it seems very reasonably priced. Particularly compared to Macbooks (from what I remember), with their relatively poor specs and terrible thermal performance - the only advantage I can see that Apple has is its software. Some people won't make the switch based on being trapped in the ecosystem though.
Edit: It's actually $2,199 after Aussie tax

This new direction, catering for white-collar workers and not only gamers is one you need to stick to Razer. Imagine seeing your colleague or your boss or just some random guy in a suit on the street sporting Razer gear.
They don't have to be gamers to own Razer and you can start a great conversation on what makes both of you be members of the clan.

Way to go guys!
So I like the option outside the "gaming only class" as well. And the market for white and pink notebooks is there. But if I get another Razer Book, I would go back to the black one. I just find them more beautiful.
I would like to see cheaper Razer products available.
Nah, not really.

Razer expanding their target customers, that's nice!

Of course, the office work side is important too.
Good to see more new products coming out, but I would like to see more the improvement of the post-purchase customer services.

I actually really appreciate Razer expanding its portfolio into the productivity sector. As a student, the book is a very appealing option for a high end, low profile, high-performance laptop. Sure, it can perform some gaming tasks, but its main focus is on the productivity scene. I am all for companies expanding outside of their comfort zone in order and using that experience to improve their core identity. Some problems with gaming laptops (really gaming computers in general) are overheating and excessive noise. If the book is able to provide good performance with minimal thermal and noise issues, perhaps Razer can take that knowledge to improve those factors on their gaming laptops. Gaming companies seem to have more progress with electronics than other, productivity-based companies. So, I'm glad that Razer is using their experience to better the productivity sector.

With this new Razer Book and its new line of peripherals, Razer is really entering another side of market other than Gaming.
This will definitely win the Windows users who are looking at a premium level laptops to match the mac books. Since there are definitely Windows users who are much more in the market per se and they will be having this as the top premium in Windows OS market.

Razer is going in the right path of hitting the premium corporate users along with it been already on top as the Gaming field peripheral makers.

Hello friends,

I admit that I was destabilized when the Razer Book announcement was made.

But there is a real need in the world for computers suitable for teleworking because of the containment.
A productivity computer will reassure CEO and Manadgers to equip their employees and be sure that it will be used for work and nothing else.
Because we all know that video games are very addicting and I know that some people easily succumb to a break while working at home.

Razer has made a really good Laptop Productivity, I think there is a market to be taken and you can compete with Dell and other manufacturers in the enterprise market.
Add more color it will add extra variation.

I think if you need to beat macs you need something that is not on the market and not with their silver color.

I'm sure quartz/mercury colored versions of it can be made available in time to come.
