I love the media control keys & jog dial.

Looks great, but also agree that the naming is getting more difficult to see the tiers of quality and features at a glance.
Blackwidow keyboards are the best in my opinion
You forgot the Macros again. Wtf Razer.

Sorry, I will add this to the original post: Yellow switches. And I'm not talking about the normal noise the switches make when you press them. Not the clicking. The springs, they...ring. A bit. Like I said, far less than with the crappy Logitech Romer G. But Cherry switches don't do this, at all.

We have to differ here between noise that is actually expected from a switch and accidental noise and I would definitly call the spring coil noise an unwanted side effect.

Thanks for your post and your feedback on the yellow switches. I went with the greens since I was enjoying the noise and audible click, but think I would actually prefer the shorter travels of the yellow--not to mention the sound. I hadn't considered the sound of the spring itself, but I agree for your point--for this price is should be damn near perfect.
Did a little reading the "ping" or "filco ping" thing, as it is officially called. Apparently there is a name for everything. :D

It seems more common than I thought and even with all kinds of switches, even Cherry switches. There are websites exclusively mentioning and informing about all kinds of mechanical switch experiences over the years, like this one: https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/wiki/mcrip#wiki_sound_illusions

So I guess I will just bear with it. I retested my older failing mechanical keyboard with the MX Brown and on closer "inspection" it got a spring sound, too. Just not as audible because the switches themselves are louder. And it is entirely possible that the spring sound was louder at the beginning, as one hint suggests:

  • Wait for it to go away - temperature and wear can affect PING!

All the other options seem to be a little over the top imho. Sound mats, lubing...nah, wont do any of that. Logitech Romer G switch users might though...tehehe. 😃
Synapse 3 has improved alot lately.

Greetings!

Thank you for your insights! a little bit OT but may i ask why you retired the Lancehead in favour of the blackadder?

The reason I retired the Lancehead TE is because I prefer the shape and feel of the Deathadder Elite instead as well as the easier to press side buttons. The side buttons on the Lancehead TE is a bit harder to access with my thumb vs the Deathadder Elite's side buttons. Granted both mice used the same sensor.

Is the wrist rest removable? I need to replace my current keyboard soon,, the wires are loose inside it i think or frayed 😛 I'd like the look of the blackwidow elite, but I don't really want the wrist rest =P

Yep it does! There are magnets that hold it on, it stays in place well but also easily removed.
The Blackwidow Elite is a great keyboard and Razer finally did the Blackwidow right after all these years. I love mine! Thanks Razer!

Hmmmmm...... This one or the Huntsman?
I cant decide which keyboard is better
BlackWidow Chroma V2 vs BlackWidow Elite
they look same . . . v2 has 5 macro keys . . . elite has usb and jack on other side + media keys
switches are same, also lightning is same

personally have V2 so for me buying this is step back . . . huntsman seems better in combination with tartarus v2
When you see amazingness but cant get anything cause they are poor :frown_: and the worst part is that green is my favourite colour
nice! this is the keyboard im looking for.
✔️ Chroma
✔️ Media Keys
✔️ USB Passthrough
✔️ No Macro Keys
✔️ Nice Design
✔️ Wrist Rest
gimme gimme

Hi!

Thank you for explaining!

Yes it's detachable. The cushion itself feels better (denser, more cushy foam) than the one on my Ornata. I like the slope of the wrist rest WAY better than the Ornata one too too, and the Ornata is really comfy--the Blackwidow Elite is just an overall improvement there. My only complaint would be that the magnet between the wrist rest and keyboard isn't quite strong enough that when I lean on the wrist rest with my elbows or lean forward on it, it pushes apart from the keyboard. This is probably because the slope is different and I could always solve this be leaning my elbows on the desk and not the wrist rest, but it's SO comfortable I'd rather put my elbow there than a hard desk top. :big_grin_:
Dang, looking good...
