Android 9 Pie
With the recent release of Android 9 Pie, I was wondering if there was any official news on if the Razer Phone was going to be getting that release.

There aren't any April Patch, only one Reddit user reported Pie Upgrade with changelog saying patches through April, but when he upgraded phone was on February patches as expected.
Even Razer support stated to me via email and chat that they don't have any update on security patches and the last version is February, they are looking into Security patches but nothing to say now (they said).
Kind of sad seeing the support for great device overall to suck so much.

What that user had was the update we all got back in march I believe but it only now just rolled out in Singapore.
So I am in Thailand and my Razer Phone 2 is still on Android v 8.1.0, and security patch October 5, 2018. Is there any way to manually download and install the android pie update?

gotta love "in coming weeks" comment...that can be anywhere between next week and next month, but at least Razer finally said something after months of silence.If I had to guess.... this will probably be the last update for the RP1.

That doesn't make any sense I'm afraid. After so many negative feedback about it first place they have to clear out situation their place and after go to other platform. It's shows how amateurs they are in marketing or don't give a damn about their actual customers. They wrote their because their sales went down and reputation as well and to save somehow quicker they wen for bigger platform but not for their actual loyal customers.

Why publicly make a big post about it when you don't have a concrete date? Software delays happen. Carriers not accepting them, last minute bugs deemed too hazardous to make the cut etc.
Razer will post about when they're sure about a date im sure of it. They've already been burned announcing software updates that carriers have then turned down.
actually, on release, the price for what you got hardware wise wasn't bad, it's company communication and software that was horrid. The upcoming update (if it doesn't disappear) will determine if I keep my phone any longer or finally move on.

You know I mean public as in official post on here/social media and not just a comment on on a thread on Reddit. They'll say more about it when they have concrete information.
Better to do that than to post when they expect it to roll out just to be either turned down by carriers for some odd reason and thus delay the whole thing and anger even more people.
Software is a very difficult thing to do. Hell look at Asus and the ROG even though they have a big set of software engineers at their disposal and it's not supposed to get Pie till Q3. OnePlus at the begining had a lot off issues too that's why they stopped revealing things way ahead of time officially.
I've personally sent so much feedback on to Razer showing comments, threads etc and pushing for you guys every step I can cause i know these devices deserve better and so do you all and I will not stop doing that.
Pie is only the beginning I'm fighting for constant security updates also.
Well let's see, but if they do upgrade the phone, i will take back all i have said, that they don't care. Even if it's late, better late than never.

The firmware support has been absolutely abysmal. Such a shame for a solid well performing phone.
If Razer got their act together, posted in these forums and gave proper updates (and commented on when regular updates are to be expected) I'd buy a Razer Phone 3 (if it ever exists).

Yeah it's the only comment I have seen. I didn't even see any official statement on any of razer's social media accounts or on here.
