Yeah there is a battery gauge for the controllers buried in there they just have a really piss-poor way to get to it that is not intuitive at all.

bro thanks for this man I had no clue

I'm really excited about the update that just came to the gamepad app, being able to overlay and map inputs for unsupported games is fantastic, I had two unsupported games with really simple input that I was missing out on playing now I will get to play them with the Junglecat.

I also have a pocket drone that you fly via phone app with simple thumb controls and I haven't tried it yet but I'm 99% sure this is going to enable me to fly my drone via the Junglecat, which is going to be sweeeeet!

With the overlay ability I feel like I got my monies worth now for sure!

this would be sick - so many games dont support pads at all - would this allow you to map buttons to places on screen? and look movement?

Yep! You have to download an Octopus plugin and give it a BUNCH of permissions for it to be able to run over-top of your games, then you launch an unsupported game via gamepad with the option for using the overlay. There will be a tiny button on the edge of the screen you press to pop open and then you place touch-mapping points for buttons and joystick/wheels etc and line it all up, and then you play!

Nobody has posted a youtube video yet and I really don't have time today so I'm sure someone will beat me to it, people are kinda not on the ball with this for some reason but betcha pretty soon it will be posted on youtube someone will demo it for ya.

I only saw it right before bed last night, played truck simulator off-road 4 which has no controller support but I used the overlay plugin to map the steering wheel to the left stick and put A and X buttons for the gas and brake, and then I was playing! I really wish I had some free time to show it off on a short video but I'm just too busy/have too much going on this week. Would be a huge boost to my youtube channel to be one of the first to show it off but its just not gonna happen at this rate.

Bro - 100% they released this after they saw what Asus were bringing out.

their new gaming handset (Asus ROG 2) does all of this and more - you need to check it out - i was so close to buying it ...until i saw the Junglecat - and that settled it - i suddenly didn't need the Asus.

It has a docking accesory with 1gbps ethernet and usb ports - it also has an accesory which gives it 2 screens!!

Check the review below by this dude - its so sick!!

I need to find some time to document the issues with the Octopus plugin overlay option, it doesn't really work. Like its close but badly needs some developers to wring the bugs out of it. I've got issues where pressing left on the right joystick "presses" the right side of the D pad and other stupid ghost presses that make no sense. Left analog circle works perfect but the right does not. Half the buttons don't actually work when I lay them over game controls.

Now I see why they didn't roll the gamepad app with the overlay feature to start with, it wasn't ready for prime time and I'd say it still needs a lot of work. Still great on games with native controller support though.
I have one now. I was a little disappointed Armajet wasn't supported out-of-the-box. I will have to do some tinkering with their app to see if I can get it to work.

I second the motion that the small size is a major selling point. I can only hope they add it to Razer Synapse 3 for PC since it is a really nice little controller in its own right.

windows 10 also detects it as a controller via bluetooth and it works just like an Xbox 1 controller does
I installed InputMapper and then Windows was able to detect it. Steam was then able to recognize it and I added it as a Generic Gamepad.
does anyone know of any 3rd party who has made a copy of this case which is better than Razer's one?

I would pay becuase the case it comes with is just not that good...

you mean with a 3d printer? I havent got one...

if you can send me the plan for that one i can send it off to get 3d printed...
Yeah the crappy case ruins a great controller add on
Hey guys. don't know if anyone else mentioned this issue but when I use the octopus plugin, the right analog stick does not seem to map the same way as the right. Its stutters in game, and if i try to pull it down it acts as if i'm flicking it instead of moving smoothly like the left analog.

I've seen the issue described here:
http://bbs.phoenixstudio.org/en/showthread.php?tid=13202

Which theorizes that this is not a big but a feature. It makes playing certian dual analog apps impossible, notably the PS4 remote play. i downloaded the panda game-pad app and had the same exact issue, which sucks because other than that everything else works perfectly. Is there anyway to fix this right analog behavior? I've tried changing the speed and the radius of the button, no go. The right analog works fine in games that support the controller, this is just in the touch overlay games that this issue occurs.

Flydigi controllers have had this overlay functionality working for a while, but I love the jungle cat slide on design much better. Really hope someone has a fix.

I would have thought the PS4 remote play ap would pick up the game pad perfectly automatically just like the Moonlight app does for streaming PC games...does it not? Have you tried it without the plugin (ie just launching it normally)?

The remote play app only supports PS4 controllers on Android 10. So that's not an option unfortunately. It only supports touch input on Android 9 and below.

Also, the right analog issue is not unique to the remote play app, it behaves the same on any app where I use the octopus plugin. I'm looking for a cross app solution.
Hi Guys,

First of all, this gamepad app with octopus plugin is simply amazing.

....however - i played Call of Duty - 1 game - first game ever - told me i was banned after...

Is this because they detected i was using this plugin and a gamepad???

surely not?

Surely its just a matter of preference right? Some people prefer touchscreen, some mouse/keyboard, some gamepad???

Anyone have a clue?

So, follow up on the right analog stick issue AND PS4 remote play after a day of testing

  • The right analog issue is a feature, not a bug. Its intended to flick since that mimics the hand gesture in many games
  • There IS an option to have a regular right analog touch map in the Octopus Pro standalone app, which I tested and works exactly as I expected (there's a little configuration button when you place the right analog stick that lets you choose)
  • The above feature is not in the gamepad app version of octopus, I imagine it will be soon
  • Neither the gamepad app or the octopus pro standalone app actually support the remote play ps4 app. They both cause either an error or a crash. I believe it has to do with the "task affinity" feature they use which allows the gamepad pro app to masquerade as another app (evidenced by apps asking for "octopus" to have permission rather than the actual app that's running). Remote Play does not like this.
  • Octopus apparently has another variant of its software, Panda Gamepad Pro, that does work with remote play because it does NOT use the above mentioned task affinity. Instead it requires an "activation" application run from windows or Mac using USB debugging in developer mode and only works until the device is restarted. This allowed me to run remote play, but had the same issue with the right analog stick as the Razer gamepad app.
  • In the end I found two PS4 remote play apps that already support controllers! PStreamer (which is not free, $12 a licence) and an open source one called Chiaki that was difficult to set up. I tested PStreamer with a trial version and lo' and behold the junglecat worked perfect - I literally almost cried.

So if anyone is having this issue with the right analog, I say wait for the gamepad app to be updated to the latest version of the octopus plugin that solves it. If your issue is with PS4 remote play, use one of the third party apps I mentioned that nationally supports it.

I use the JungleCat daily but will definitely be looking to add the Kishi as soon as its released.

Seriously FFS....if i knew this was comimg I wouldn't have wasted money on the Junglecat.....this looks much better because a) its universal and b) you dont need to use the crap case Razer provide with the Junglecat....I have a feeling as well, that as its actually plugged in to the phone you can also power the phone through it so not to lose charge.....this was a design fault of the Junglecat IMO

Also i wonder if you can still use the USB audio while gaming.....another design fault of the Junglecat

It seems you aren’t alone in the situation. Fortunately there’s probably lots of people who would take your jungle cat off your hands if you decide to switch over to the Kishi. I hope you are still enjoying your jungle cat, at least.

yes the Junglecat works very well....there doesnt seem to be any lag with it either (not that i notice) and i like how small and compact it is.

To me there would not be much reason to buy this new one (Kishi) ATM ...however i do like the fact they have moved the right analogue down as thats where i like it (usually play with Xbox One controller).

I dont think the Kishi looks very "Razery" either....just looks like a generic universal controller you can find all over Amazon...I think the buttons need to be more Razer-esque

I prefer aligned joysticks than offset because I am mainly a PS gamer, but unfortunately the jungle cat doesn't work with ios. I agree the look of the Kishi isn't as flashy as some other Razer designs, but I'm fine with that as long as it feels good and is responsive. I'll make my judgement when I can finally touch the thing.

PSA. DO NOT use junglecat gamepad app with octopus plugin! Not even with it simply installed!

Octopus plugin gets YOU BANNED like a redheaded step child. I just got banned from cod mobile for launching it from gamepad app. ONLY ONCE. FOR ONE MATCH.

Nvidia shield overlay/controller mapper DOES NOT GET YOU BANNED.

hey buddy - i have been using the Octopus plugin and it works so well for every game except COD. it gets me banned for an hour or so.....but i thought they ban use of all overlays? or maybe their servers are not gearded to detect the Nvidia one?

Have you got a link to the APK file?

I do have the shield k1 (rooted) but I think the mapping thing is built in. I can look around inside it for you, though.
The bundled RP2 case has no cut out for the Razer RGB logo. That really remove every incentive of buying it for the RP2.
