Hi, I recently purchased a Razer Blade 15 Base Model, that I received yesterday (thank you Amazon). Very nice machine, but I have a problem. The fans are very often active. They are not at their maximum speed, but they trigger for minimal functions such as open web browser, go on youtube, etc... Even my old PC, much less powerful, didn't make any noise when I performed such tasks.
The only time the fans stop is when I'm not doing anything. But you don't do nothing when you have a beast like that in your hands.
The noise of the fans is exhausting in the long run, and I wish I could fix this problem. I checked the task manager and the CPU does not exceed 10%. I tried to change the fan speed manually with Razer Synapse, but it makes the situation worse. I also tried softwares like Notebook Fan Control, SpeedFan, etc... but nothing change. I contacted Razer customer service but they did not provide a solution.
I specify that I did all the Windows updates, drivers (NVIDIA, Intel,...) and even the BIOS update.
If you've ever encountered a similar problem, and you have ideas on how to fix it, I would be grateful to you.
Thank you all.

Worked for me as well. You need to select "plugged in" and by default the manual setting is at max even if it's not selected. You have to select it, move the cursor to minimum or recommended and toggle back to auto. And it will do the trick.

Hi everyone,
I currently have the same problem as my fan speed is way too high at idle (my previous razer was dead silent in light workloads)
Fan speed in synapse in auto, I updated the bios, nothing changed
Then I checked my intel drivers and noticed they were not up to date
You can check for yourself here: https://www.intel.fr/content/www/fr/fr/support/detect.html
The next day it seems to have helped!
My laptop is not loud continuously but silent most of the time with some strange (and agressive) fan ramp up and down now and then
I cannot assure that this update was actually what helped but I hope it can help you too!
Which intel drivers did you update? I have updated everything except the "Intel Graphics - Windows 10 DCH Drivers" because it displays a warning: Installing this Intel generic graphics driver will overwrite any customized driver from your Computer Manufacturer (OEM). Does anyone know if it's okay to do this update?
Anyone else experiencing drastic loss of FPS and lagging in your gameplay when you update your NVIDIA graphics card? This is the sole reason why I have redownloaded a older version so it would keep my gameplay clean.
I have updated my NVIDIA Graphics card multiple times but since I see a drastic loss of FPS and my games start to lag I have to redownload an older version.

Hey everyone! Thanks for posting your laptop's fan noise here. Ensure to identify which fan is causing the issue and check if the vents have dust that could cause air blockage. You can spray compressed air and see if it helps. Also, please check the following links below:
• https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/671/kw/fan noise
• https://mysupport.razer.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/973/kw/fan noise
If your laptop's BIOS/EC firmware, Windows OS, Razer Synapse version, and graphic (Intel/NVIDIA) drivers are updated. Should the issue persist, please save your files and revert your laptop's operating system to its factory state by following the steps on this link. Let me know if it helps.

Thanks for sharing! Should reverting to an earlier version of the NVIDIA graphics driver didn't help. Please send me a PM to submit a case to our Support Team.

How comes, Razer only reply on this question, about GFX cards and drivers. I'm wearing noise cancelling headphones to use my RTX 2070 Blade 15 with 10 tabs on chrome and explorer open.
Come of @Razer.Speedcr0ss Help us out here, I'm slowly getting Tinnitus from the constant whirring!!
I've changed my Synapse settings to Auto, all I should be expected to do to control fan noise for minimal tasks on my monster GFX machine surely?!
Throw us a friggin bone here! TY

I'm not a pc expert or anything but they sound normal to me. The problem that we all have here is that the fans are too loud on idle and shouldn't operate in that speed while doing small tasks, but during gaming that kind of rpm is probably ok, it's a laptop afterall, and laptops overheat fast.
Isn't the problem here that we have a VERY powerful graphic engine encased in aluminium being "air cooled"... How about a water cooled laptop eh Razer!?
For gaming there could be an additional reservoir which has larger silent fans that bolts into the back? Adding an inch or two would be a grateful compensate for the noise. I mean, who really though this through... putting RTX in laptops lol
This is the same exact problem happening on my Blade 15 Advanced (Early 2020 model) that has been continuously frustrating me for months! The low speed and high-pitched whine of the fans has been making me feel ill... those frequencies are messing with my hearing. I'm way past sick of it and finally found this thread here.
RAZER, please release an update that lets us change the behavior of the fans when plugged in running minimally-intensive programs. The fans are way too active even when I'm on my desktop with NO main program running! When I unplug the charger, the fans stop!
The Synapse app is not doing enough and is useless for this particular issue.
I read some of the info above but I don't think it actually solves any of the problems.
I'm not returning this, or wiping this, I know problem is on Razer and there is no defect here. I haven't even had this device that long!
Summary: the problem is the fans on the Razer Blade Advanced 15 are too loud when IDLE and PLUGGED IN.

Yep, exactly. I agree.

I don't know, I suspect that it's something to do with Synapse. They just programmed it so the fans kick in even in relatively low temperatures where fans with that high rpm aren't necessary.
I wrote feedback in the Synapse app telling them about this and spoke with Razer Support in order to let them know about the situation, I suggest everyone to do the same in order to raise awareness and fix this
If so many people have already messaged them, I really don't want to go through the stress of just repeating it again to Razer staff, when people have likely already described the issue in better and greater detail overall.

I still advise submitting a case or sending any mods here a PM. The issue can be hardware and software. That's the reason why the team recommends providing isolation steps through the Support Team's assistance and sending the unit to undergo a diagnosis/repair to ensure that there is no faulty hardware in the units.
My 15 base does it as well. I think the simple issue here is that the fans whine (similar to a turbine) too loudly. The whine is worst at mid to low rpm. I don't know enough about the fan motors and fan blade design to know why this happens. It's too bad because otherwise this machine is awesome and a good price. I think the people who are expecting this whine to go away from bios or other changes are thinking wishfully. It's just how these fans sound. The only possibly acceptable solution I could think of is to somehow prevent the fans from operating in that mid to low RPM range. this means they would throttle up quickly to a high-speed and down more often I would guess. anyway it seems like this is a pretty common issue and razor has had several opportunities to acknowledge the issue for what it is so I'm just going to return mine.

I felt bad that you'll end up returning the unit, but I appreciate your feedback. Don’t hesitate to send me a PM or visit our self-help options should you have other questions or concerns.
I have a similar problem in which the fans turn on the loudest setting whenever my laptop is plugged in and turned on. This is an issue and I have given up on trying to use the laptop while it's charging anymore. The issue just started a few days ago and it has become very difficult. As soon as I unplug the charging cord, the fans go back to normal. Everywhere I've looked it has said to change the settings of the fan but that doesn't make any difference As long as the laptop is charging the fans will be on 100%.

Thank you for the advice, but those are a lot of complicated instructions. I will still try to follow them, but is there any way to fix it that might be a bit more simple?
