All the keys are repeating sporadically when I type. Sometimes it has no response when depressed, such as the arrow keys or punctuation keys. I have to spend a lot of time checkingg the spelling and missing letters.

If there is any typo here it is because I gogt fed uup on correction.

I’ve had the same problem on my Blackwidow v4 75% since buying it just over 3 months ago. I’ve noticed:

  • repeats happen often on vowels, as they are more frequently pressed than the average consonant
  • Removing the switch and cleaning the socket out with air seems to help for a little while
  • Sometimes instead of repeating, the key doesn’t register
  • The repeats are so frequent and pervasive, I cannot use the keyboard for anything; gaming, writing, coding, etc.
  • Have had to go back to my Huntsman Elite to even get anything done.

I’ve tried software reinstalls… still repeats. 

I had a system crash since owning the keyboard, reinstall of windows 11… still repeats.

FWIW, this appears to be a fairly common hardware problem with these keyboards and I’d like to get a real answer from Razer on what they’re going to do about it.


I will join the chorus of people that have reported a key chatter issue with their Razer Blackwidow v4 keyboard (in my case, a Pro full sized keyboard).

I’ve had Razer replace the keyyboard no fewer than three separate times. The last time, I was promised “white glove” treatment where a keyboard would be taken out and pre-tested before being sent to me. This was not done, the keyboard sent to me was in a factory-sealed package and untested. It failed within two weeks with the “y” key repeating more and more frequently.

To say that I am disgusted by the bad faith, stick-to-the-script-at-all-cost answers and repeatedly forcing me to pay to package a defective keyboard, only to send me another defective keyboard, is a gross understatement at this point. I’m demanding a refund and if I don’t get it, a credit card chargeback and a social media campaign is in order. This entire line of keyboards is obviously defective and Razer will not acknowledge or do anything about it. They promise action in bad faith, escalate and de-escalate customer service at random, and refuse to answer questions or conduct anyy necessary testing.

(Yes, I’ve done all the troubleshooting steps all four times, including cleaning the switches directly. Nothing helps: Once the chattering starts, the keyboard is permanently broken. Even Razer themselves tested my last one and acknowledged this).

Support was contacted in the U.S. for all three replacements.

Yep. I have v4 75%. I tried to reinstall switches, because found some info about that issue at reddit
I swaped some not so popular used keys switches to the other that have this bug, but it not helps
Looks like it hardware issue
I don’t know, but to 100% exclude switches problem, today I bought a new Orange switches set
Will wait a week for a delivery and retest it
Because right now it’s very annoying, I’m a programmer
And this double bb, tt, aa, ff, double enter or backspace really gets me angry :)

Also want to point that I have a dual boot at my PC, and this bug exists at the both systems. Windows 11 and Ubuntu

Today I’ve got the same new orange mechanical switches pack
I found 8 switches, that had a doubling issue, replaced them
And the issue return back after some hours :(


Chiming in to say I’ve had the same problem with both my previous 2014 Blackwidow, and my current V4 which I’ve had since August 2023.

Last keyboard was always the L, H and A keys. Current keyboard it’s the I and T keys.

Have tried many things… cleaniing (<example there), with/without Synapse running, on other PCs, etc.

 

Defiiniitely (<ARGH) will be the last Razer product I purchase, as itt doesn’t seem like anyone has had any promising solution. A shame, as I do like their aesthetic, but this is just beyond frustrating.


Running into the same issue. Tab, C, and space bar so far for me. Not at all at once either, new keys are being added so I don’t expect it to get better. I started getting these issues at about 4 months of use. After going through this post it’s pretty disappointing to see that not only is there not an appropriate fix, but replacement boards start exhibiting the same problems after some time. I don’t really want to go without a board while I go through RMA just to end up in the same spot again downstream.

I’m lucky enough to be in a position with enough disposable income to regret my decision to purchase this keyboard and just purchase something else to replace it. It will make me hesitate to purchase Razer products in the future, and I am exactly the type of customer they would want to keep coming back to the pond.

It sucks, because the board makes an excellent first impression, and is reviewing well because of it. It’s making all kinds of positive press and then drops the ball far enough down the line that it’s not hitting any outlet’s radar.

At my situation as I told you before
I bought a new one https://www.razer.com/gaming-keyboards-accessories/Razer-Mechanical-Switches/RC21-02040300-R3M1 for my BlackWidow v4 Pro 75%
At the first time I changed switches to a new one, some buggy keys continued doubling
But guys, who knows that in a brand new one 36 switches will be also some buggy ones? :)
So after some replacing the switches I removed all the buggy
And hooray now I have clearly working keyboard, 😁
It was funny and sad at the same time
So, maybe someone of you this information will also help!

As it’s described in the specs, it’s not compatible for our 75% keyboard, but nevertheless I bought it
Whose keycaps not suit for our keyboard: rightAlt, rightShift, pgUp, pgDn, insert
All the others suit, also I want to mark that PBT keycaps transmits light less than ABS, so these not suitable keycaps lights brighter

I received my first Blackwidow v4 end of last December. After 3 weeks (!), I had some double typing/keys not responding issue.

I reached Razer support and manager to change for a new one, that I received early February.

Funny thing is that this second device is having exactly the same issues after 2 weeks. I can't replace my keyboard every month when these Blackwidow v4 obviously has some serious issues.

And now, Razer is neither willing to refund me or to upgrade me for something else, like Huntsman. Only replacing for, again, a new Blackwidow v4. 190eu for only problems with no commercial gesture.

Save yourselves, don't ever buy Razer again. Low quality with low customers services.

Same problem here on the V4 75%


Today I swapped orange faulty switches with new AKKO blue cream ones. So far no issues detected.

It costed me ~ $25 https://en.akkogear.com/product/akko-v3-cream-blue-pro-switch-45pcs/

They feel even better than oranges to me (also Tactile). Hope this helps someone as the keyboard itself is very good except switches.

 


Update: Saw some videos that sometimes residue get stuck in fabrication and can be clean with Isopropyl Alcoohol 99%. . I oordered some and will let you guys know if that helps.

So I cleaned the switches with 99% Isopropyl Alcoohol and it solved (for now) my problem. 

1-unplugged the keyboard.

2-Remove keys.

3-Don’t be shy with the 99% Isopropyl Alcoohol.

4- Let it dry 15-20 min.

I'm encountering a comparable problem with the replacement keyboard 😡 provided by Razer. It initiated with the letter 't' in my situation, and I've observed its propagation to other keys. From my perspective, it appears to be a software-related issue, given that I'm experiencing this problem with a replacement product 🤔.

I was refused refund. So I went ahead and ordered 90 pieces Akko blue cream switches to install them on my faulty keyboard. It seems the ROOT ISSUE is in the switches. But overall build of the keyboard is good. So if those switches won’t make me happy… I will do nothing.

P.S. Razer used to be publicly traded company, now they went back to private. Bad sign overall. Very sad that they have stupid management who lacks quality control on their products.


At last some good news. After three different RMAs and four different keyboards (Blackwidow v4 Pro, green switches), I filed for a chargeback on my Amazon Prime credit card and it was approved in one week. I had all the receipts, all the transcripts of my cases with Razer, and I gave the credit card company the entire stack of evidence as soon as I opened the dispute.

Razer refused to refund me one day before the dispute was ruled in my favor. Irony!

It’s not an action you should take lightly, but chargebacks work. If they’re going to keep sending you a defective product and you bought with a credit card (many of which have their own extended warranties), chargeback. Enough chargebacks, and the credit card company’s going to give Razer the sideeye. Maybe then they’ll take some action with this keyboard line instead of stonewalling us with offshored customer service and AI chatbots running off scripts.


I got my v4 less than an hour ago and am already having key repeat issues.

 

Seems fine on normal text typing (for now) but when trying to llog (there’s a double l) into my work vpn, the number keys were going crazy.  Already turned down the sensitivity.  

 

This might be going straight back to the retailer.


So I have a Razer BlackWidow V44 Wired Mechanical Gaming Keyboard and I goot the same issue on a couple of keys. I was loooking to replace the swittches (I have green) but I don’tt see any info if the Razer BlackWidow V4 switches are changeable? I’m new to pc and the only problems since July I experienced is keyboards loll. I changed my previous keyboard for razer (got good productts in the past) for the price I payed I’m a disapointted.

Same issue here : D and Space keys are not responding 8 times on 10. How can we be sp many with the same issue…

I asked a RMA yesterday morning in order to have a new  BWv4. Do you guys know how many time it can take? Can they send a new keyboard without waiting for us to send the issued one ? 


This problem is still getting worse. Spacebar is doubleclicking or not responding very often. I have tried everything including USB 3 ports and nothing works. Sometimes I have to press spacebar 7-8x to get response.

Now I will show you how it looks like when I will type the same thing again with my V4 PRO:

And no, its not a hardware issue, but software issue. When I change the POLLING RATE from 125 to 8 000 in synapse, then spacebar is only sometimes double clicking, but always respond.

This is a serious problem and I am very disappointed with this very expensive keyboard. RAZER keyboard = never again!

I asked a RMA yesterday morning in order to have a new  BWv4. Do you guys know how many time it can take? Can they send a new keyboard without waiting for us to send the issued one ? 

I shipped my keyboard out on September 29 and did not receive a replacement until October 9. They won’t send you a replacement until they have the old one first.


I just received my second warranty replacement for the V4 pro (full sized) and this one has a critical key not working out of the box and after I've typed a bit I've already noticed more than one additional key that seems to skip input. the last one had several keys that failed all at the same time and my first one only had one. the warranty I'm waiting on a response before I send this one or my last one back...


BlackWidowo V4 Pro. I wanted to buy a cool keyboard for my newe PC. Turns out my first Razer keyboard will likely be my last. And yes, for me, the double type sometimese happens delayed, so instead of aab I get aba.


So I've refunded my green switch and gotten the yellow switch instead and received it today to my suprise the same issue persist even on a different keyboard switch LMAO. Goodbye razer not gonna buy anymore keyboards from your brand anymore so pricey but rubbish quality


I just had  my Blackwidow v4 replaced because of  this. The  new one was working just fine for the last  few  weeks and they after they reimburse me for advanced replacement  this keyboard started double typing. Im getting double spaces and double I’s randomly. Asking for a refund, im tired of spending $200+ on a keyboard just  to have to pay for it  again  for  a replacement and then wait weeks for  a refund just to do it all over again.  


I’m going to typee my reply heree without dleleting the duplicatee letters or adding the dropped llettrs just sso you can see how totally unacceptablee this keybboard is. OMG this iss ridiculous!!!!

 

This is my second Razer Black Widow v4 and after I write this message, I will take this keyboard out to my backyard and use it as targeet practicee. I willl neever buy from Razer again. Whaat utter trassh!

You said it perfectly.  I was living with that exact frustration.  Pure trash.  Post a video, I’d love to see it and vicariously live through you letting off some steam.

 

If you’re not already frustrated enough - trying jumping through hoops with their RMA process.  You’re monitor will be next.


I just fixed this issue with two of my switches. I pulled the switches out the board and poured isopropyl alcohol on them, spammed the switches several times, then let them dry. Put them back in and all is back to normal now.
