same issue here. talking with razer chat for a lot time, seems like they dont understand what happening and this is only mine problem despite i saw them all forums with same issue… :(

Found this workaround from Avast forum. It worked for me. Better than uninstalling either one of software. This wars3.exe runs in background.

Try this
https://github.com/skawamoto0/Workaround-for-Avast-23.1-and-Razer-Synapse-3
https://t.co/QrGVBL9Klu

Thank you, it worked for me

How do you use that ?

Download the file from second URL. Extract and run it. (Scan it through you AV before running if you have trust issues😉)
Program will show under your system tray icon, it will run in background. You can set it to windows startup until Razer and AV solve this issue.
If you wanna see code of this program then go to Github URL.

I confirm the wars3 workaround works like a charm for me!
I have Avast as well but I’m not removing it.
Thanks!!!

Soltuion = uninstall the peiece of shit software

Hi,

absolutely same issue today after updating Avast, no point going in details. Is there any solution yet from Razer?

I killed the service from starting u at the moment (set to manual) as its absolutely insane to think I’ll uninstal paid for AV solution in favour of periferials!

I think I’m swaping to Logitech after this, I never had ANY issue before I swapped to Razer. I’m kinda dissapointed.

Regards.

Rather uninstall AntiVirus entirely. Is there improvement if simply change AV to exclude Razer folders from scanning.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer

C:\ProgramData\Razer

Honesty though free Avast is bit resource hog. That’s why I prefer paid ESET, better optimised and I deploy on corporate network.

I tried this, but it didn’t help. I have Avast Premium Security.

i will not Using any Random.exe to fix any problem 😉 who tell me its not a Virus or something ?

Actually I was surprised to see so few code to fix it. As far as I understand the idea - it works like multiplexor between Avast process and razer process. The code looks as it does not have any virus-like code. You can compile it from source, the source has  <40 lines of code to review and small portion of boilerplate code.

If my understanding is correct the drawback may be temporal disabling of antivirus? However I have not seen any manipulation with avast processes. I am not a system level software developer to be sure of it, so if anyone has an experience related to system Windows software developing, please, review what this tiny thing actually do

But the problem is Avast/AVG (both are same company) last program update

That decision would of course be up to to, but I don’t entirely get it: for you (and me and a couple of others here) the problem didn’t start with any changes of the Razer software, but with updating the AVAST engine.

I had updated the Razer software several days before I updated the AVAST engine, and until that AVAST update RazerService worked as well (or as badly, depending on your personal opinion) as usual with no unusual issues.

I noticed the issues directly after rebooting after the AVAST update.

While that doesn’t imply that Razer’s isn’t at fault at all, it implies AVAST is at least partially responsible.

And as to the argument here that because of not just AVAST having an issue with Razer but AVG too implying it’s fully Razer’s fault: AVAST aquired AVG a while ago, so it’s not unreasonable to expect parts of both AV solutions using similar algorithms/ mechanisms.

Several other AV solutions do NOT seem to have any issues with Razer (yet?).

I’m not a big fan myself of what I perceive as a pretty bloated Razer software package to provide my Razer hardware with even just the most basic functionalities nor would I state I never had any issues with that software, but I use AVAST a decade myself and I had minor and bigger issues with that software too in the past.

I’m currently using a Razor BlackWidow Elite keyboard and a Razer DeathAdder 2 mouse, but I started out with a Logitech MX Master 3, changing to the Deathadder just because it fits my somewhat large hands better and the wear and tear gaming has on a mouse isn’t as expensive if i have to replace the (comparatively) cheap Deathadder. I still have and treasure my MX Master 3 but on my system the Logitech software wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of great software design & reliability either, only it didn’t matter that much to me.

AVAST isn’t by default flawless, nor is Razer (or for that matter MicroSoft or Logitech).

See Avast forums

It has problem with several other programs, not only Razer

Yeah I think too many people are associating previous grievances and issues with razer's software, with this issue. As @Deville505 said the consistent thing here is avast/AVG update. But let's not pretend like Logitech's software is the best thing since sliced bread

Hi Guys,
I have Razer Synapse and Avast. I have been using wars.exe from 2 days.

Today I got an update from Razer and after updating synapse and Razer Central issue got resolved.

I removed wars.exe and tested it, now CPU remains normal.

Thanks to Razer team.

FIXED!

I just receive email from Razer, they make new version which fix this issue, but not available for download via the faulty synapse already installed. [mine freezes when was trying to check for updates]

you must download and update it manually.

https://www.razer.com/synapse-3

0% cpu usage now!

[also i use Avast]

Reinstalling didn’t work for me.
Still 14% CPU usage on Razer Central Service after installing synapse a few times, tried ending all razer central/synapse processes before installing over it too.

Guess I’ll try that wars.exe

Yes it's same exe version file but somewhere i saw newest date. I don't remember where and how much exactly. 20230223 or 24 something like that i remember.

So it's fix of same version number i think because of the same version exe file.

Hi guys,

Please try to update Synapse to version 3.8.0228.022313. If an update is not an option, it should be released within the next 3 days. Should the same problem persists, let me know through PM so I can properly document your concern and raise it with the software team. Thank you!

Razer update 3.8.209.20311 (latest available for me) did not fix. The wars3 workaround did. Big thanks!

It is fixed for me now, although I didn’t update Synapse (still on 20230113) or anything from Razer.

The only update I got since yesterday is a virus definition update from Avast. 🤔

Hi All. fyi, today’s windows 11 update (2023-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems, KB5022913)  fixed the problem for me.

Hey, I got this problem too, Have you tried changing the windows version it is running on??. worked for me. Right click and go to properties and then combability tab and change to win 8.

i turned it back after and it worked, haven't tried with restarting computer yet.

I get your point, in part, but do consider ppl approach to issues in different way, and its perfecly fine.

To be clear, I absolutely never ever had any issues with Avast and I’m using it over 2 decades! While Razer… well not the best records in less than a year I’m using Synapse 3. Had several issues with it, no issues with version 2 and Naga tho… I do agree with superbloated Razer software esp Syn3… just.. why??? Its just more possibilities for things to go wrong…

Based on above, however odd this seems to you, its just simple statistics on user experience and deductions for how to go forward for me: if there are issues, whatever new came in last, goes out first! Reevaluate and if this fixes the issue, it fixes the issue.

Regards… hope it gets fixed fast.

Edit: windows update (2023–02 cumulative update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 (KB5022906) fixed it for me… strange AV issue...
