Cooling Pad no longer functions

Brand new cooling pad, razer blade 14 w/synapse 4. Updated firmware on cooling pad per razer synapse, and now guess what?! I can’t use my cooling pad. It just sticks on “initializing” within the GPU/CPU temp boxes and won’t let me switch the thing back to “balanced” now I either have to deal with the constant fan blaring or lay off the PC for gaming (which is not ideal for a gaming PC). I know it’s a wider issue and expect some update to fix it, but it would be great if Razer would at least acknowledge the issue and assure us that we didn’t just burn 150.00…

So do I. They ruin their products by updating their firmware. I just can't understand it and it just makes me angry. If there isn't a quick update, I'm going to destroy this product and never buy a Razr again.

just happened to me, firmware update bricked the cooling pad leaving it initialising.
i tried the uninstall & reinstall, repair & reboot, but nothing works so i’ve just arranged a return.
I’ve just printed off the label and will be dropping it off at the courier in the morning.

as per usual razer manage to nerf themselves every time

I’ve also had the same problem, where it quit detecting temperatures.

I’ll try the uninstall/reinstall of Synapse 4, but not sure it’s gonna help...

Same. Mine stopped detecting the CPU and GPU and I can’t even click on Smart Fan Curve. I really don’t want to have to uninstall and then reinstall it. So troublesome.

I just used the button on the side to toggle to low for the time being.  Not as good as smart fan, but noise & temps are at least acceptable.

Yes I’m going to have to do that. I removed and did the download again and it’s still happening. Lame.

Mine is not working either- I have to manually change the fans even though I have it under smart fan. The CPU and GPU information isnt showing on me either. I dont think it ever worked for me. Downloading and reinstalling didnt work either.

Mine has been pretty good since the firmware issue where it lost the reading of temps until today. I got windows to do an offline virus scan offline where it rebooted laptop and got stayed on a bit locker screen as I was away so the fan ran at high all day. Once it booted back into windows the temps stopped working in Synapse 4. Had to uninstall, use CCleaner to clean registry, reboot then reinstall synapse 4 and working again. They need to fix this

I’ve got the same problem.
I received my pad yesterday and it was working fine, then today it asked me to update and it just initializing indefinitely.

Recommend you uninstall it, install CCleaner and do a registry scan and delete old links in the registry with Razer Synapse, reboot then reinstall Synapse 4 and it should be working again

I didn’t have to use CCleaner, just uninstall Synapse + Chroma, reboot, & reinstall.

I haven’t trusted CCleaner since they got hacked before.

Goliath28_1971

you would think Razer would pull the firmware update to prevent this since clearly the firmware update is busted ?

Hello,
I purchased a cooling pad for my Blade 16 and updated to Synapse 4 and got the firmware update. But now the cooling pad doesn’t show up in synapse and i got a message saying “Device is switched off”.
I tried uninstalling several times Synapse+Chroma/rebooted/unplugged the pad but nothing worked.

Any idea?

heatfastPinkLavender155

Should I send it back?

did the firmware update fully complete?  does the cooling pad still work with the side buttons, even though synapse says it’s off?

if you go into windows device manager & look under “software components”, do you see an entry for the laptop cooling pad?

Goliath28_1971

Don’t do the firmware update ! It bricks the cooling pad.. I just opened a case and they are going to replace the cooling pad.. RAZER should pull the firmware update until they fix the bug !

heatfastPinkLavender155

So i got it to work by reverting to the factory version of Synapse (thanks to a system save), then going through the whole process of upgrading synapse again. And now it’s seeing the device as online and everything seems to be stable :)

so it was not the firmware that caused the issue but apparently Synapse 4
