There’s bios and EC updates on support page that you guys...and ladies may want to take a look.

Thanks. Installed both. Unsure what has changed!

How about trying gaming on original AC adapter, see if it’s still discharging or not.

Aaaaaaaaand they crippled it. As soon as it detects discharge(which is pretty quick), everything slows down. I can sit in a capital - in game - with 60 fps without trouble and all of a sudden it slows down to 30 fps. But the absolute treat here, is that it still discharges. So I went from having a discharging laptop that could actually play games pretty well for a couple of hours to a discharging laptop that can't play anything in 3D for 4 hours. I had a feeling that they were going to do this and not adress the real problem, being the underpowered charger. I'm starting to lose faith here..

What game is that, and how % is the cpu usage? It may be cpu bottleneck doing games with weak gpu at 60fps as video on this page shows, user limiting FPS to 30fps to loose the bottleneck.

It's not CPU bottleneck. It was more than capable of running the game prior to the BIOS update. I'm looking at the exact same spot in game running steady at 60 FPS with no spikes or such, when it all of a sudden drops to 30-35 FPS with no change in scenery.

It’s not my question and how do you know it’s not bottleneck? You can as well upload video from YouTube etc to show the FPS drops on the game, FPS drops may also cause by ultrabook cpu on gaming, since it’s low tdp and can’t hold on peak frequency long like on higher cpu tdp on big gaming laptops like 7700HQ or 8750H.

I know, because It wasn’t a problem before, and I can see in GPU-Z that it goes from +/- 95% load to +/- 40% load.

I see, watch again the video I attached before. The reason he lock FPS to 30 is for more stable FPS. Playing on 60fps will make huge frame drops on several scenes like high rendered fighting scenes, and low tdp cpu can’t keep at peak frequency boost clock on such scenes. Higher FPS needs gpu works and more gpu works stress the cpu, stress the cpu means more wattage needed. GPU z Monitor only gpu, it’s great to achieve 90ish means it works effectively. Use afterburner on screen display to Monitor cpu usage, 90ish or capping 100% means bottleneck. Keep in mind MX150 on stealth is high 25watt tdp gpu, can perform great but you must be careful on power usage. It’s great for light gaming way better than previous stealth but don’t expect get max screen refresh rate all the time, you need egpu setting to do that like I showed on Jerrods Tech video today, with that and proper gears like monitor and a good gpu you can expect 100fps gaming.

Hey @Droglez, please send me a PM with the serial number of your RBS so I can help you out.
FYI, I do not see this issue with the 100w charger. Haven’t tried with the one that came with the machine yet.

I wish I had that kind of money..
It’s expensive and insulting. 1899$ for 4k60 sdr with unimpressive cpu and gpu?

Im not poor but this is just not a smart purchase. 4k hdr10 maybe, but this?

Actually cpu is not bad at all for ultrabook, one of the best in an Ultrabook world. GPU isn’t for serious gaming but more to light gaming on the go, it’s way better intel hd or Iris graphics on MBP 13 or old xps 13. For serious gaming you’ll want Razer Core end high end gpu for extra 1K to get this (physical score beats my old 7700HQ cpu, look at my previous setting on my signature.:smile_:
About hdr btw, idk if it’s worth on 13 inch, I’ve portable hdr 13 external Monitor, don’t know which Version but there’re differences between on and off on vivid and dark scenes, but without it, it’s still great, I prefer it on tv or bigger monitor like 27.
Razer have taken down the new BIOS update that cripples performance by the looks of it!
I already have blade pro 4k with i7 7820hk and gtx 1080. I also have core v2 with gtx 1080 Ti asus tog strix. Blade pro doesn’t fully support core v2.
Joikansai
It’s better for gaming than an Uhd 620 on most ultrabook and even Iris plus on latest MacBook Pro 13, yeah for 1080p all max still not capable though, do you want putting 1060 on it:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye_:

That's why I said is was still a great unit 😉 it just doesn't cut it for my needs :P

I'm still running the 2017 14" Blade with the 1060/7700HQ. At this point I'm waiting for the R/GTX 2060 model to upgrade ... while hoping that CPU temp will go down with the 9th Gen Intel Mobile
...is there any way to roll back the bios and EC updates that are now taken down, without doing a system restore/deleting everything I've installed?

Use ryzen processor please !

why?

So far I know once you did EC or Bios update there’s no way back, even reinstalling windows, it’s saved on the board, similar with Apple phone iOS version update, can’t go back unless by tweaking it that voids the guarantee. Hope they are optimizing or fixing issues that users reported and it will back there soon again.

It looks so powerful and destructive, and it's such small.
Just got mine for about a week. First impressions of the device was really good.

Just contacted support for charging issues.
- No charging when plugged in and powered off
- While using normally (just simple web browsing), I noticed the charge status as "Plugged in and discharging"
- Charging stops intermittently and I have to resit the cable

Extremely disappointing for the amount paid for the laptop. Definitely considering returning it instead of requesting for repairs
Nice to see the new design for the Stealth, but damn its a major bummer the individual key lighting was removed. Would have been instant buy for me if it kept those since it now checks all the other areas such as a more discrete logo etc..

It kinda sets the design back again imo, since the backlight bleed is awful and takes away the clean awesome design Razer is known for on their laptop lineup. Again, major bummer!
Dear Razer,

I am really whilling to buy this laptop. But with all of the issues that have been going round, I am really considering not to, as I don't want to be the guinea pig in testing it with all of its faults.
So, I want to ask:
Is there anyone from your side looking into fixing these issues?
Is the discharging something that could be fixed with a BIOS update, or is it a hardware issue that is going to be fixed in future models?
What about the coil whine / crackling noise, is there a fix for these?

Thanks in advance.
When will the 4K configuration be available for purchase?
So, after a month and a half of frustration, I'd like to share my experiences.

I first ordered a Blade Stealth mid December to use for school. Literally every single aspect of the laptop appeals to me: small 13" form factor, slim sexy bezels, entry level graphics card powerful enough for 60 FPS dota (the only game I play), decent speakers for netflix, black color, USB-C charging. I am very picky, and it hit all of the points I was looking for. Truly a unicorn.

Unfortunately, my first unit arrived with coil whine and speaker crackling. I checked this thread, and I tried using older realtek drivers to fix the speaker crackling. That worked. Unfortunately, changing the SSD did not work. The coil whine persisted, so I went ahead and returned the unit for another one, hoping I would receive a non defective unit and be happy with a perfect laptop.

No such luck. The second unit also had both of the above issues. Worse, its fan, when under load, emitted a high pitched whine that my first unit did not have. I understand that this is a small laptop and under load the fans must spin at high speed to dissipate the heat, but the high pitched whine was very annoying, and definitely not a feature because it was not present in the first unit. Thusly, I returned the second unit, as well.

On to the third. The new stealth is just so perfect for my needs that I was willing to try again. I contacted support TWICE to inquire about the issues, and whether or not they were addressed. Both times, support informed me that they have been. However, my third unit possesses ALL of the above defects; the coil whine, the speaker crackling, and the high pitched fan whine. Worse, this unit now has an imperfection in the finish on the lid; a silver speck sticks out. Not only is it an eyesore, I can catch onto it with my fingernail. Each subsequent unit I received came loaded with more and more defects. Extremely disappointing.

I have already initiated a return for the third unit. I am seriously at a loss as to my next move. I contacted technical support this time to inquire about whether or not the issues have been fixed, and of course, they told me that the issues have indeed been fixed, but I don't know whether or not to believe them. I truly want a non defective stealth as my all purpose laptop, as the design is truly exemplary. However, I may just purchase an iPad pro as a temporary solution (school involves lots of reading PDFs, and I do have a Dell Precision 5520 for typing emails and essays). Still debating and monitoring this thread.

I did not test games and charging issues with any of my units.

I do know Razer cares about its customer feedback. Support has been mostly helpful, if a bit slow. Furthermore, I've seen Min Liang Tan post on these forums directly asking for customer feedback, which is very encouraging. Unfortunately, unless they get their production issues sorted out, it is still a hard sell. I wish anyone dealing with these issues the best of luck.
