Should Gamers Learn to Cook?

Userlevel 6
Personally, I think gamers should learn to cook as most of the games require gamers to sit still to play it. This can potentially cause quite a lot of problems like higher risk to get health issues like obesity especially the hardcore ones who don't like to exercise. However, when a gamer learns to cook, he or she can control the food that he or she will eat and significantly adjust his or her calorie intake. In this way, the gamer can game on comfortably without worrying about his or her health. Thus, making them able to perform better in game with good health.

I agree it would be better/healthier, but more time gamer spents on cooking means less time spent on gaming. :confused_:

Well, it depends. Compare to gamers who like to order food from outside or go to a restaurant to eat, they need time to do it too. If there is a lot of people on the waiting list, it's even worst. I personally think gamers cook by themselves is more time-saving, economic and most importantly, healthy.

Well, if that's how cooking helps, I don't know either. In general, only the balance from a regular day helps here. Healthy eating, sufficient sleep and plenty of exercise. Optionally, you should have a job and not play 24/7. This is better than just learning "cooking".

I do agree with your statement but as a teacher I do encourage my students to go full swing in gaming if they are really good in gaming. If they are good in gaming, why not just encourage them to be a professional gamer who play games to earn a living? Cooking is to supply them food, not purely for interest.
Ich sag ja nicht, das es falsch ist. Ich wollte nur sagen, die richtige Lebensweise in Ernährung und Bewegung ist der richtige Weg.

I'm not saying it's wrong. I just wanted to say that the right way of life in nutrition and exercise is the right way.

The truth is a balance of what @kennethyha and @M-S-G said.

Good food+Perseverance/Commitment(in gaming or computing, whatever somebody likes and is good at)+Exercise+Time management

To answer your question, I don't think it's mandatory, but if we're talking about living a healthier life, then yes, absolutely. Plus, often times, it's much cheaper.

As I get older, the time spent in front of the computer starts to drain me and I need to retreat to an analog life, which is why I enjoy cooking, myself. But I'm also not a stranger to marathon gaming sessions. I find protein shakes, fruits and veggies to be a good desktop epicurean companion. Throw in some caffeine or a beer (depending on the mood) and it's still way better than getting anything takeout/delivered/fastfood/processed/microwaved.

My favorite while gaming? Kimbap, hands down.

According some survey in Japan almost 75% women there prefer marrying man with cooking ability than those who not, so at least there yes gamers should learn cooking for their future too :big_grin_:

GG even throw a kimbap recipe into the comment 😆. I'm gonna try it out! I agree with your opinion. It's cheaper and healthier for sure!

Cooking is cool and relaxing, as long as the food is good in the end lol. As i am a gamer, and therefore a lazy person, i don't enjoy cooking that much, i'm better at eating. But probably in an alternate life, if i wouldn't have been gaming i would have probably become a cook. Food is the key to everyone's heart.
I agree with cooking and want to add exercising. No only is exercising good for you like a heath diet, it can help with your reflexes. And quick reflexes helps with your gaming.

You have talked about one of the most important fact that need to be considered. I once though about opening a You tube channel for gaming where their would be recipes for gamers who would like to make their food. As all they do is watch you tube and play so they would also learn how to cook.

You are right, being healthy makes your reflexes good and thus gaming would be good. They are proportional.

Yes it is, but a healthy diet is also the reason of a long life and good reflexes.

Agreed. With the recent COVID-19 outbreak, gamers should learn to cook even more. Stay Home and Game On. #stayhomegameon

I really don't see why the reasons for needing to learn how 2 cook would be different for gamers as opposed to literally anyone else

There is. Gamers spend time sitting stationary while ordinary people move around. Buy cooking by themselves, gamers can effectively cut down their calorie intake and maintain their body weight or even prevent themselves from getting obese. As a result, they can live longer and game longer. Don't you think so?
o hell yea u could stay home for ever lol.
but seriously, cooking for yourself is healthier, cheaper and gives u an excuse to stand up lol

It really depends on your idea of gamer vs ordinary people. To me, gamers aren't that different from ordinary people-i think gamers are ordinary themselves. Lack of exercise or eating a surplus of unhealthy food isn't a characteristic unique to gamers. Also gamers have varying amounts of time they spend gaming. It would be a whole different topic if we were specifically discussing diehard gamers tho

You are right but in my opinion it is risky to be a diehard gamer. Gamers need to have a good health too, in order to be good in games and able to play more games in their lifetime. Without a healthy body, they might get sick and unable to play games well. Worst, they might die and unable to play games anymore, specifically the newly or will be released one. Don't you think it's a pity?

I don't understand why the only incentive you list for good health is "to be able to play more games". I agree that gamers need to be healthy, but everybody else should to. However my top reasons for desiring good health aren't going to be focused on being able to play more games.

I mean for hardcore gamers. I am not a hardcore gamer but I play games daily whenever I have time. I love to travel, to see the wonders of the world, the way how people from different parts of the world managing things, to learn their strength, try out the different acceptable food and compare the real world places with the in game ones
