Razer Blade 15 Advanced (2018) Webcam Camera error 0xA00F4244

Not sure if it should be posted here. but i tried finding drivers for the Razer Blade 15
I followed some threads online to uninstall the camera drivers, reset camera, turned on camera, check device manager.

I turned on the Camera App
I reset the Camera App
In Device manager, there are No Imaging Devices or any indication of a Camera or Webcam (see attached images)
scanning for hardware changes reveals nothing too.
Please advice

Hey Bigyeti0628! I understand where you are coming from. I'm not here to invalidate what you've experienced with the Support team. Indeed, the team could have done better. However, this is not a leeway to go around our house rules. Let's keep our threads/posts civil and constructive. Please send me your email address or case number via PM.

Hello NobNob1018. I'll ensure to send your feedback to our Support Team. Sorry if I can't confirm or answer your questions. Razer address issue by sending out firmware patch via Raze Synapse since there's a description that indicates what particular concern does the update fix.

Thanks for posting your feedback and overall experience here. And yes, the Support Team should exhaust all the basic steps and ask questions to isolate the issue before forwarding it to our high ups or the next level of support. Also, if the team diagnosed it as a hardware issue, the unit should be sent to our Service Center since we can't provide steps on how to dismantle or open any Razer laptop. Razer only authorizes our service centers to do it.

Hi yeah I understand the process and again yeah Im not mad at the support team as Im familiar that everyone in the technical support position has a certain protocol to follow. Im just wondering why although the sheer volume of the same problem was already posted in various forums and just insider alone contains a lot of threads why has there been no resolution or an explanation presented by Razer? is it a batch defect? an error in BIOS? why did suddenly all the cams & microphone got affected?

PS. I'm not sure if this is really a hardware issue as there is a "unknown driver" thats present in all the blade 2018 encountering the issue

My thoughts on this (Note Im not bashing Razer but I do need to criticize some points since it looks like they abandoned the entire issue altiogether)
So first of all I'm not sure for the internals of Razer but by the volume of the complaints of the 2018 model they should be aware of the issue at this point and just recommended the factory reset (although I understand that in basic troubleshooting you do need to isolate the issue and separate different problem altogether) and offered RMA as to lower the exchange of emails but just the sheer forums and post of the particular model should be obvious enough that they have a protocol exclusive to the unit.

As for the staff that I've talked to, they're all friendly and give swift and sharp replies so if you have any other issues go on ahead and talked to them with the latest reply I got at least ~1-1.5 days so no problem with the people just with their protocol towards the unit itself.

Moving on Im pretty sure that majority of the people looking into this already checked a lot of forums, videos and maybe asked tech-savvy friends to help with this issue and even by a lot of research a lot of people probably didn't find solution so Razer should have had an idea of the scope of the issue in some point since its all revolving on a specific model (I could be wrong so if so feel free to correct me)

So the following was done to troubleshoot the issue
Update Windows
Check Device manager -> uninstall camera driver -> reinstall
If Camera isn't in device manager -> restart PC -> check for hardware changes -> try to reinstall the camera
Check Camera settings in windows app and make sure its on and can be used by all applications
Factory reset the machine.
If you tried to do everything there's no hope.
So guys I have an update on my case and but for some weird reason I can't post a reply?? so yeah so TL: DR

TL:DR razer support can only do basic troubleshooting and that their only sol'n is for your laptop to be sent to their repair team or RMA for short.
Hi guys just an update so far the recommendations to me wasn't that much of help since these are some of the things recommended on forums (past forums were people are experiencing this) but hopefully there's a fix for this I can't blame the support team since it's only there part to assist us so yeah. Hopefully the team behind the software comes up with a fix for this since it looks like the BIOS was indeed the culprit (and or a windows update). Just my two cents I think Razer for the meantime should withdraw or remove the latest (and last) BIOS update of the Blade 2018 on their website since its one of the suspects to the error and knowing a lot of people are relying on their webcam at this time. Will send possibly my last update since I think at this point we've exhausted all solutions at this point.

Until then hopefully everyone stays safe!!

Already did a factory reset and a clean reinstall of the OS but it looks like the update in BIOS is what caused the issue. Already talking with the kind people on your support team and hopefully this works. Will post updates ehre on what happens. Till then hope everyone is safe!!

Thanks for the heads up! Feel free to update this thread then. Stay safe.

Hey everyone! If you have updated your laptop's BIOS/EC firmware, updated from Razer Synapse and Windows update, and even performing a factory reset, please submit a case to our Support Team. Else, send me a PM so I can assist you in generating a support ticket.

Yes, definitely. I appreciate your offered assistance. If you want to go the extra mile, you can share the code by uploading it via Google Drive or another online drive, then paste it here or send it to @StarStrykr through PM. Anyhow, we are currently working on his concern. Any help/suggestions will be highly appreciated.

Hi there! Thanks for helping @StarStrykr. I'm currently assisting him via PM. By the way, are you copying/pasting the text? Have you tried directly typing the camera code in the textbox?

Eh... that's alright mate. I'm 99% sure its a hardware/firmware malfunction. Plus, momma always told me not to grant remote access to (friendly) strangers on forums. :)

Problem must be:

  • Broken camera
  • Disconnected camera or broken cable
  • Messed-up system files.

open:
C:\\Windows\\inf

check for these 2 files:

  • c_camera.inf

c_camera.PNF

if missing go to (EXTRA)

open CMD as ADMIN and run (wait for each of them to finish then go to next command)

1- sfc /scannow
2-DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
EXTRA: USE THESE IF CMD METHOD DID NOT WORK
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As in Microsoft usually Guid for camera device is : {ca3e7ab9-b4c3-4ae6-8251-579ef933890f}
you may copy paste these text and save it as " c_camera.inf " in C:\\Windows\\inf

razer wont allow me to type codes here, such a shame.
Having the exact same issue (and just posted about it before seeing this). I bought my 2018 advanced unit refurbished from Razer Store not 3 months ago and have lost both webcam and microphone access over a few weeks. I can confirm they both worked out of the box, and no the laptop has sustained NO damage since I've had it. External mics/cams work fine over USB.
