Pokemon Direct was announced for tomorrow, so I thought of opening a Pokemon thread on Razer Insider.

Talk about Pokemon video games, past, future, hopes, thoughts, memes, competitive and themed teams, etc. here!

Id be interested how many people are actually playing pokemon go still^^ the main series is always there but pokemon go "died" last year to like 1/10th of the playerbase. I myself still play it, Level 33 Valor :D
  3. I came to terms with the leveling methos of Sun/Moon lately and decided to train a few pokémon, so i found the Direct announcement quite fun.

Hyped to see what's coming, hopefully a Switch game.

Funny, actually. I remember a little less than a year ago when it was everywhere (and I was raging because I wanted the bandwagonning normies away from my favorite franchise if they didn't actually care). Razer even made an app for it (which is kinda dead now). Niantic really screwed up the whole GO thing badly, IMO.
I still play it every now and then while I'm out and about and don't wanna take out my 3DS or Switch.
But the fact that the player base has all but vanished is kinda saddening to me now.
Make matters worse, Pokemon isn't super popular where I live. I found a small community, but the live event tournaments (which are unofficial) aren't that big and take a few hours to plow through. That being said, I am the local champion and among the top 5 players in my country.

I'm just annoyed about how everyone was talking about Pokemon and now they're not. :/

Unfortunately I haven't played Pokèmon in a very long time, but I still remember to this day my team from Red/Blue:
Dodrio, Venusaur, Starmie, Nidoking, Snorlax and Jolteon with Starmie being my favourite.

I have tried some of the later incarnations but I was put off by how demeaning it was to discover the concept of natures and effort values and how you had to grind so much to fully max one single Pokemon's potential out of possibility of thousands.
It's incredibly daunting for me, though I guess some people like that aspect of the gameplay.

    Razer themed team:

    Mega Metagross/Gliscor=

    Volcarona/Mega Heracross/etc.=

    Raikou/etc.= Raiju/Wildcat

    Gyarados/Garchomp/Tentacruel/etc.= Kraken/Hammerhead/ManOWar/etc.

    Zygarde=Razer Snake & Mouse

Feel free to make other suggestions.
  7. Personaly have not played a newer pokemon game since Pearl. I did dabble a bit with Pokemon go till my phone decided it was gunna die and not charge anymore.

Really looking forward to Pokken Tournament on Switch! However, UltraSun and UltraMoon didn't really appeal to me:slightly_sad:

I'm kinda hyped for UltraSun and UltraMoon. I loved the Alola region and the overall concept of Sun and Moon :D

Are we talking about a competitive team or just what we would love to see as a team? haha

Oh and btw @j.i Considering the new announcements, I guess I wasn't that wrong with my statement about no main Pokémon game coming to the Switch :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

pokemonultrasunandultramoon.jpg So Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.
I honestly thought it would be Stars on Switch, yet Nintendo has denied us that.
I hope this isn't the same story as Sun and Moon, because as much as I liked Lusamine as a villain, the rest of the plot was kinda "eh".
So yah, they decided to pull a Kyurem with Necrozma (because he has been an irrelevant and useless turd for the most part). So yah. What I wanna know, is why they didn't just do Pokemon Eclipse?

Although, the Ultra is OBVIOUSLY from Ultra Beasts.
And remember how they discussed how (SPOILER ALERT if you haven't played Gen7 yet) the Cosmog lines are really supposed to be Ultra Beasts, but they never get into further detail?
And how Necrozma is reminiscent of the Ultra Beasts, yet isn't one?

I have a theory. Necrozma is indeed another Kyurem (in a way).
When the Legendary Pokemon of Alola combines with Necrozma, it becomes the Ultra Beast that they discussed in the previous games. Kyurem is the remains of the original dragon that Reshiram and Zekrom once were in the lore.
Perhaps Necrozma is similar in that sense.

    We'll find out in November.

Both, really. I purposely used Volcarona over Volbeat/Illumise because they're trash. Oh, and Volcarona is a moth, but a FIREmoth/fly nonetheless.

Care to be a bit more specific?
Pokemon isn't exactly on PC unless you count emulation and rom hacks.

There's Pokémon Showdown! for competitive players willing to test their team and refine their teambuilding

You´re right, but I´m so happy that they decided to develope a main title for the switch, even if it´s another region :D
It would be so awesome if the remove most of the new pokemons/the evolutions and forms they have....

In the past everything was better :/ It was the time when you knew every Pokemons name, type and maybe most abilities :slightly_sad:

Oh, yah. Slipped my mind. Well, that does sort of count as emulation (or simulation rather).
But still, was asking for specifics. Perhaps I could be of assistance.

What drives me nuts was Mega evolutions for Pokemon that could potentially still evolve.
Like, I would've prefered Houndoom evolve into a 3-headed hellhound/Cerberus as apposed to mega evolving into a slightly larger Doberman Pinscher.
Like, when Gen4 game out and they gave new evolutions to old Pokemon (Tangrowth, Electivire, Togekiss, etc.) I wanted more of that. Mega Mawile's design could've been a regular evolution and so forth.
I do love regional variants though. Gives relevancy to old Pokemon that just weren't that great. I absolutely love Alolan Marowak.

To be honest I don´t played the new Pokemon versions cause Pokemon X/Y already caused lags and framerate drops and that was so annoying... :/

You normally just shut the 3D off and that sort of fixes it. In Sun & Moon, the whole thing lags in double battles.
TBH, I have no idea why they haven't fixed this yet.
Hopefully UltraSunMoon will fix this issue.
Also, in regards to recent gens, the exploration isn't what it used to be and I want it to stop being so handy-holdy.

So let's talk about the announcement at E3. That there WILL INDEED be a proper Pokemon game on Nintendo Switch (Probably releasing in November 2018).
Hopes? Ideas? Potential? Let's hear some brain music and stuff!
