I also suffered from the same issue

The same problem, it stopped working from one moment to the next, and now it only turns on the RGB and a green light flashes but it doesn't work, I guess I now have an expensive paperweight and Razer has one less client, it should be noted that it only has 3 MONTHS of use, and about 2 or 3 hours a day, it has never been dropped or hit

i purchased this mouse from the closest microcenter on 7/7/24 and i’m experiencing this same issue. It’s completely dead and does not even so much as light up. I’ve tried different USB ports, restarting, reinstalling synapse, and even tried on multiple computers. I’ve had it for less than a month and I no longer have a box to return this. Will try my best to contact microcenter for a replacement that works more than a month...

Hey all,

My Basilisk V3 RZ01-0400 was suffering the same thing and I was able to fix it…

TLDR: I had to remove the connection with the “free running scroll toggle” (idk the official name of this function XD), as during some tests after I had disassembled the mouse, it came down to working without the scroll whell connected.

So, the process was:

  1. Disconnect the USB port
  2. Disassemble the mouse (there are five screws underneath the grey thingys and the big black label
  3. After this, you can simply remove the scroll flat cable (this one has a “bar” where you need to push up a little in order to remove the cable)
  4.  Connect the USB port and the mouse should be working normally now (without the scroll connected)
  5. You can then, cut the “small part” of the flat cable, that is tied to a kind of capacitor near the scroll, but please keep the big part of the flat untouched.
  6. Disconnect the USB port again
  7. Connect the scroll flat cable back
  8. Connect the USB port into the PC to check if mouse is back to life, before closing it.
  9. Now simply disconnect, assemble all back and GG

It seems that this “capacitor” is short-circuiting after some time (my mouse is 2 and a half years old), and when this happens, the mouse tries to power on, you have some light for 1second or so then you hear a small Click and then it goes dark.

Removing this capacitor you only loose this “Free running scroll” that I used sometimes, but not a lot… I rather have a working mouse then this to be honest…

Unfortunatly I did not take any pictures as I was kinda thrilled that it worked, but feel free to reach out that I can try to help somehow.

BR

Any idea how to solve this issue? this happen on me today on my basilisk v3 mouse.

IVORYbestImperialBlue521

I SOLVED  the issue with very simple steps. After I tried all what i found at web and even this page, I follow these steps;

  1. Remove Razers files from Program Files (x86)
  2. Uninstall the Razor from APPS & Setting  (if still exist there)
  3. Remove or Uninstall Razor from Bluetooth & other device settings
  4. On the  Razors bluetooth with the button not (2.4)
  5. Click on “Add bluetooth or other device”
  6. Click on “Bluetooth” and then select Razor.

It works for me after I tried several ways to solve that problem. I`m happy to solve it and share with the community. I hope it works also for you. :)

My Razer Basilisk V3 Pro just stopped working for no apparent reason! I've only been using it for about two months, and it's in perfect condition—never dropped or damaged. It always performed well, and the battery was healthy.

I’ve tried multiple methods to troubleshoot, including connecting and disconnecting the cable, turning it on and off, changing settings, and even testing it on another computer. Unfortunately, it’s still not working. Normally, a slight movement would activate it, but now it’s completely unresponsive.

That’s very funny because it happened to me right as my warranty expired, I tried ALL of methods but nothing worked and only cutting that cable that powers hyperscroll function helped me save a mouse, I never used that hyperscroll so I didn’t care that’ll won’t work anymore

So I come with news of how I just resolved having the same issue. I was watching a video, my computer made the “dun-dun!” Noise when it makes when something is unplugged or plugged in, the lights on the mouse stayed on, but it wasn’t working or responding at all. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and now no lights were on at all and it was lifeless. I performed the mouse reset which I unplugged it and held the left and right lick and scroll wheel button all at once for 10 seconds and plugged it back it holding the buttons and my pc made that “dun-dun!” Noise letting me know it recognized something was plugged in but nowhere in synapse or my devices did it show my mouse, it’s lights WERENT on and it still didn’t work.  I saw a Reddit post of somebody saying it could be due to a windows or synapse update. I updated synapse, all windows updates including the optional driver updates, did the obligatory pc restart to apply the updates and after restart it was still lifeless UNTIL I unplugged it, did the mouse reset steps again, plugged it back in, let it sit for a few seconds and it’s lights came back on and started working again. I hope this works for anybody having this issue in a genuine panic.

Same thing just happened to my Basilisk V3 and your solution worked for me

First thing, this problem has happened to me 2 times now and both times I did the same thing and it fixed it. I don't know if this will help anyone else but

-Completly unplug the mouse and turn it off

-Wait for the sensor to turn off

-hold the profile button and turn it back on

This worked for me so hopefully this can help other people

I also have the Basilisk V3 - wired version, and had the same issue.
Tried everything until seeing this comment here and I believe on reddit somewhere too,
Disconnected the ribbon cable to test first and my mouse powered back up so went through the same process of cutting the thin ribbon cable for the free scroll.

Pretty dissapointed with Razer’s complete lack of help for anyone outside of their warranty period, regardless of how widespread this issue is,

So I made a video to try help others work through it when theirs inevitably fail.

Hey everyone,

I’m at my wit’s end with my Razer Basilisk V3—it’s stuck in "Razer Bootloader" mode (no LEDs, no cursor, no clicks) after a macro setup gone wrong in Synapse. I’ve tried everything imaginable to fix it, but no luck. On top of that, Razer Support (case #250303-000126) says my warranty expired based on the serial number (likely because it was manufactured in 2021), but I bought it between May 23-27, 2024, and the manual states a 2-year warranty, so I should still have over a year left. Has anyone faced this Bootloader issue or warranty mix-up and found a solution? I’d love any advice, a firmware file, or tips on getting Razer to honor my warranty!

How It Started:

  • I was configuring macros in Synapse. The next day, I turned on my PC, the LEDs lit up for 1 second, the cursor moved briefly, then froze.
  • I reset it (holding scroll + left + right buttons), and it entered "Razer Bootloader" mode. Since then, it’s been stuck there, detected but dead.

What I’ve Tried:

  1. Firmware Updater: Downloaded the Basilisk V3 updater (for the 45-macro bug) from Razer’s site. It detects "Razer Bootloader" and starts updating, but the mouse disconnects mid-process. Tested on USB 2.0/3.0 ports, another PC, and Safe Mode—same issue.
  2. Synapse: Uninstalled/reinstalled Synapse multiple times, cleared folders (C:\Program Files (x86)\Razer, C:\ProgramData\Razer, C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Local\Razer). It doesn’t detect the mouse.
  3. Device Manager: Removed "Mouse compatible with HID," "Razer Bootloader," and hidden VID_1532 devices. Forced Bootloader mode repeatedly—no change.
  4. Bootloader Driver: Tried a "Razer Bootloader Driver" from Softpedia (rzrbtldr.inf), but Windows doesn’t detect it properly for installation.
  5. BIOS Tweaks: On my Aorus B550M Elite, adjusted "Boot Option" and "Storage Boot Option Control" to exclude USB boot (kept CSM enabled since disabling broke Windows). No improvement.
  6. Event Viewer Logs: Shows error ID 131 "Failure to prepare metadata" on reset and "Failed to start" (Problem: 0x15) with HID\VID_1532&PID_0209, pointing to a firmware issue.
  7. File Cleanup: Manually deleted Razer folders, checked for residual drivers (e.g., rzmouse.sys), but no dice.

Current State:

  • It shows as "Razer Bootloader" in Device Manager and "Bluetooth and other devices," but the Firmware Updater disconnects every time.

Warranty Confusion:

  • Razer Support says the warranty expired based on the serial number (probably because it’s a 2021-manufactured unit). However, I bought it between May 23-27, 2024, and the manual states a 2-year warranty, meaning I should have coverage until at least May 2026. I don’t have the receipt anymore, but shouldn’t the purchase date override the serial number? They’ve asked for proof of purchase, which I can’t provide, and Brazil isn’t a replacement shipping destination anyway.

Questions:

  • Has anyone fixed a Basilisk V3 (or similar) stuck in Bootloader mode? Any working firmware updater (like "BasiliskV3_FirmwareUpdater_vX.XX.XX.exe") out there? I’ve seen Razer provide firmware for out-of-warranty cases (e.g., BlackWidow Chroma).
  • Anyone dealt with a warranty dispute like this? How did you prove the purchase date without a receipt?
  • Any other tricks I might’ve missed to revive this mouse?

I’m tech-savvy and willing to try anything—I just want my mouse back or at least get Razer to honor the warranty I’m entitled to. Thanks so much for any help or experiences you can share!

Cheers,
João Pedro

Please check your USB cable. I had other issues with this mouse and the solution was to replace the USB cable. You can find my problem description at the link: https://insider.razer.com/razer-support-45/razer-basilisk-v3-unable-to-maintain-stable-connection-53607?postid=251038#post251038
