"We were most interested in whether or not the Core could be used with other notebooks. After all, it connects to the Stealth with a USB-C cable, so why shouldn’t it? Razer admitted that, theoretically, it can, but that devices' BIOS must support switchable graphics. We inferred that there may be some driver hiccups in there somewhere yet, but at some point there should be no issue."

So the bios option that's required is to have support for another gpu.

Correct. But switchable graphics and eGPU is a completely different animal. Basically, right now we have a variety of eGPU devices and standards. The XPS 13 MAY work with the Core, but we can't assume it will YET.

and "switchable graphics" at the moment is a brand new thing created by Razer. Other eGPUs require you to restart and select your input.

and also the Dell XPS 13 is about the same price when you customize it with the same components as the Razer Stealth

For those lucky enough to see it, Razer Blade Core question -- the videos all appear that case cooling is largely ambient; that is no case fan forcing an exhaust. While the CES2016 demo seemed to show a 980Ti with non-reference cooling, I'd be concerned if a rear-exhaust reference card would be the only long-term safe way to work it. Any suggestion as to if this is a legit concern or not?

Will the stealth be able to run games such as Rocket league and H1Z1 smoothly with medium to high graphics? I rarely play triple A games and instead focus on smaller ones such as the ones listed above.

  7. Any info on accessories or extended warranty for purchase in time for next week's shipments?

Was wondering if the core can be modded to support liquid cooling. Considering you have a 500W psu in the rear. Anyone up for modding?

Not really, I recall similar systems ran rocket league barely 30 fps.

I've been thinking long and hard about this system. This is the typical upgrade year for my gaming desktop, so I'm having to carefully choose my path. I have around $2100 available. I'm now considering going ahead and purchasing the $999 version of the Blade Stealth, and holding on to the other $1100 to watch and see what the benchmarks and reviews are like (and cost) for the Core. If I decide later to skip the Core and buy a replacement Desktop instead -- I should be able to get a good gaming desktop for $1100 or so dollars. It wouldn't be top end, but it would be upper 15% performance probably.

Are there any holes in my plan that anyone can think of? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Is portability a factor for your purchase? It sounds like you are looking mostly for a core gaming desktop for home. But your plan seems fine if you are trying to get the 'best of both worlds' approach :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Yeah I was thinking it would be great if I could get enough performance at home with the core to call this a desktop replacement, but also get a great portable solution I can take to work for non-gaming needs. It will need to be able to handle the gaming desktop replacement duties well enough though.... I know it won't be able to compete with bleeding edge PC performance, but I would love to get an idea of how it stacks to that bleeding edge performance just as a comparison.

I'm personally going to wait for the new Razerblade 14' as I have tried the previous one and loved it. But then again, I need more portability as I like to work ( Photoshop/Lightroom ) away from home. I'm excited to see what they will do to it. I was really tempted to get the Stealth though as I'm pretty impatient haha. The 8gb of ram is what mostly turned me off though :slightly_sad:

When do they typically roll out the new blades?

  18. My wireless headset prefers an optical port to plug the transmitter into for 7.1 surround sound. Will there be any support for this on the Core or through the 3.5mm audio jack (i.e. the jack supports Toslink)? Barring that, is there a spiffy way to perhaps go through the HDMI port?
