Thank you for the advice, I've been undervolting eversince(didn't have that much time to find the most I could undervolt yet so..) and now I can score around 6710~ with time spy and 15700~15900 with Fire strike(once I've found the minimum I'll post them and the scores)as for thermals.. still not bad they aren't unbearable the only schorcing hot spot was under the display/exhausts and some times the palm rest became hot but it only occured once

It’s only time matter until you know your Blade well, you can push the graphics score to 19~K, with proper software tweaks (cpu undervolting and gpu overclocking). It seems rtx Blade doesn’t apply gpu OC, you’ve to set it manually with 3rd apps like afterburner.
How about upgrading the blade 15 I bought half a year ago. Is that technically possible? I mean exchanging my gtx 1070 with an rtx 20 series in my old laptop.

I've downloaded NVIDIA Inspector to OC, I haven't done it yet I wanted to see how much I could get with only undervolting first then I might OC it

I thoght only Nvidia will make me think about *ahem* 'Options' to earn extra income for hobbies but the line grows longer with this..
I'm on my 2nd day with mine (RTX 2080) and I'm in love. Madly, deeply in love. 120FPS + in everything on ultra. I'm already down to 90GB of disk space from throwing every game I want on there.

My only complaint is I didn't catch the part where I had to wait 2 week for my Anthem code. 😞 this makes my eyes rain :frown_:

Hey, glad to hear things are going well with your new Blade ! I read the review of the RB 2080 MQ on ultrabooks.com posted here by Derek712 ( https://www.ultrabookreview.com/25739-razer-blade-15-advanced-review/) and even though I only have a small OC on the GPU and undervolted the CPU I'm getting scores that are incredibly close to the 2080 MQ tested in the review.

Of course, this has sparked my curiosity because without doubt the 2080 MQ is quite a bit faster in real life GPU intensive workloads. It has to be, especially the 90W variant configured in the Blade.

So, I was wondering if you think you could share a couple of benchmarks scores, especially games that have built in benchmark tools such as: SOTTR, Far Cry New Dawn, Far Cry 5, Metro Exodus etc... Or you game give me just what kind of average FPS you get in the games you've tried out, that's fine too!

I will try and post my numbers next to the ones provided in the review just to show what I mean, I'll have to come back to it, I gotta run right now !

Hope to hear back from you !

Game on Razer people!

For the Razer Blade Lineup, why don't you offer a hybrid for Base Model and Advance Model?

Base Model:

  • Cons: Capped with hardware performance upgrades (144hz cap; RTZ 2060 cap), 65W battery
  • Pros: Ethernet port, Extra Sata storage

Advance model:

  • Basically reverse of Base model.

I would suggest to offer either a Hybrid where both Pros of Base & Advance are combined into one laptop or I suggest make the division based from "Slimness" or "Thickness" and upgrades applicable to both. This way all consumers are happy to choose what they like.

Sure you have it on the Razer Blade 17 but its too big for consumers like me. The new Razer Blade 15 is perfect size and portability plus I have to give credit with its new sexy look.

But please offer the base model(dual storage) for higher upgrades similar to how Apple or Alienware does it. You should allow customers to upgrade whatever they want and they will pay more - its a win-win for both parties, imo.

FYI, I had the 2018 Base Model 128gb SSD/1TB HDD, GTX 1060 MaxQ, 60 hz and recently upgraded to the 2019 Base Model 512GB SSD/Extra HDD option, RTX 2060, 144hz. Along with other Razer peripherals including the Razer Core X Chrome - so I'm really a fan! I just hope this gets addressed for fans like myself.

I would have spec'd out this base model for 240hz, RTX 2080 MaxQ if you guys just offered it, honestly!

Good idea, but this variation getting better and better, on first Blade launch was only two options 1060mq and 1070mq with 4K model came later and before even only display options on 14 model, so they’re on the right way.

This man is an absolute savage. Remebember when he put his MacBook Pro 2018 in his freezer to keep it from thermal throttling?

Because they make it more powerful on way thinner cassis, that 2018 i9 performance was a bit weaker than Blade 15 i7 8750, 8850H model was clearly weaker so he tried to cool make a fun by putting inside refrigerator. i9 or 8850H on 2018 model MBP was pointless, on 2019 Model it is getting better but still isn’t the performance it should be.

Every card has different default (base) frequency clock and boost clock, for example my 1080ti (Zotac mini) max OC was +125mhz from base clock ( same with desktop setting OC value), meanwhile other with better cooling fans like rog strix should be higher, this is manufacturer OC setting. 2070 Evga Black was +180, and same card that dead before that one can manage 190 in this case it’s called silicons lottery. My current Blade 1070maxq can handle 210, meanwhile other can’t handle even 200, and some other can do +230, this is other example from gpu silicon lottery. I’m not quite detailed with Blade rtx cards OC value but you can start from +100 core and rise it every 10mhz to see its max value. Undervolting cpu would even give better score since it give more thermal room on cpu which is stressed on gpu OC. What I know since we have same cpu, stable and save undervolte value for 8750H is around-120mV.

at -140mV it crashed only twice like 3 days ago, it hasn't been crashing eversince, maybe ThrottleStop isn't actually undervolting it?

I want it but with Ryzen, Razer please !

Why? AMD doesn't have anything to offer for high end in mobile. Unless you would like a full desktop CPU crammed in it, which would kill battery performance, would generate a lot of heat & require a huge power brick.

With how my Nendoroid collection is growing, I dont think i'll ever have enough $ for this ;c

If you are not familiar with TS try Intel XTU. But first reset the value on TS and if possible uninstall it, those two works not great with each other, unless you can limiting both software. Btw crash is because too low undervolting value, if it doesn’t apply it won’t crash unless your cores temperature hit 100.
If you’re getting used to undervolting environment in a thin light gaming laptop you’ll notice it immediately by fans behavior and temperature.

Looks amazing
If the blade has a 1440p 144hz screen, I'll not even hesitate to get one.
But now, I have to choose between high resolution and high refresh rate.
Not to mention, the High-resolution panel is not even purchasable in many countries.

Personally, 1440p and 4k are the same on a 15-inch screen, but I can notice the difference when it comes down to 1080p.
Hey, any idea if this new razer blade is going to offer gsync ?
That oled version looks sexy. May he by next version of gpu and cpu we will have 4k 120htz oled screen.
I would have love a 1080 or 1440 oled for this version at 120 htz.
The 4k oled with 60htz if there is no gsync not sure even the 2080 will allow to really use it.

It’s great idea, since now there’s already g sync optimus switching technology, back in old days, g sync is useless for portable gaming laptop for its battery killer, and couldn’t be used with optimus. G sync will also made Blade 15 capable doing 3 Monitor gaming like Project Valerie (optimus won’t let internal screen extending with external monitor on nvidia surround view).

From Ryzen mobile cpu, AMD only has quad core on their high end model right? So it’s still maybe stealth 2019 ultrabook performance class. And Vega 20 on MacBook Pro 2018 can’t also reach mobile gtx1060 performance on Blade 14 2017 or even late 2016.

Too bad that the 2070 and 2080 will be MaxQ.

Hey, are all the drivers available for the new 240 htz version?
Ordered it and I should receive in in a couple of week.
Going to swap the ssd for a 2tb and do a clean install. But just want to make sure that it s possible.

The important one like wireless, intel, nvidia drivers are already uploaded on Blade support page, the rest like sounds drivers maybe you can directly download from vendor Realtek or Dolby, or using from early 2019 support page, I think they’re same hardware.
Hi

Just to advise that I've swapped my 2018 4k/60Hz GTX 1070 Razer for a 2019 RTX 2080 144Hz/Hz

Big plus:
If anyone is thinking of the switch this thing runs MUCH cooler - where the old one even say just showing a citrix/Chrome window might spin up the fans - this one is silent/fanless until actually stressing out the CPU/GPU.

Okay:
I don't mind 1080 vs 4k to be honest. I spent most of the time on the 4k model wishing some less well-coded apps scaled their fonts properly.
I don't miss the touch-screen which I used only occasionally when touching/resizing photos. Maybe I'm just a die-hard mouse user.

Less good:
Compared to the 4k the black levels are less good.
Also I didn't realise just how easily I would notice the colour-gamut differences. Most easily seen on the "Razer-Green".
In Razer Synapse - where the Razer-green represented on screen on the 4k model would not look that different to the electric-green on the keyboard or razer logo on the back. Very bright and super-saturated. The 144Hz model is no-where near. Increasing the brightness just reduces the saturation.

Benchmarks
I'll update benchmarks shortly but on my first try of 3D mark the tool advised that the GPU drivers were not standard so wouldn't calc a score.

I think certainly the 2018 4k model I had was a bit of a unicorn - It would undervolt almost indefinitely without blue-screen/forceclosing (although I did note that past a sweet-spot of 140-150 that throttling/performance ceased to improve and then as volts decreased performance first ceased to improve and then from around 160 actually started to decrease)

Initial findings: Timespy

2019 1080 2080 NoUV NoOC 7665

Updated results with UV and a light OC of the GPU core/Mem.
(the 2018 model is a more refined tune although I can't quite remember the settings for GPU - but from a quick play there's less capacity to improve no the 2019. This is -140 CPU UV and +250/+180 GPU. You'll see thermals are still much better)

TimeSpy
2018 4k 2070 UV OC 5578
2019 1080 2080 UV OC 7914

Fire Strike
2018 4k 2070 UV OC1 15189
2019 1080 2080 UV OC 17990

That’s great score. Do you mean overclocking gpu +180 on core and +250 on memory clock right?
Side note 2018 model isn’t 2070 but 1070, should i correct it again:smile_:
