    ................................will it blend?

    ...hehe. :D

Cheesy artwork aside though, this is a serious concept-suggestion.

Basically a mouse with NO LEFT CLICK! ...but in it's place, a joystick, a bit smaller than those found on an xbox controller.

It would still have left-click functionality, by clicking the joystick down (again, much like an xbox controller). It'd also have JOYSTICK FUNCTIONALITY!

This means, in most games you'd be able to control ALL camera and character movement with ONE HAND, leaving the other completely free for keybinds.

It would certainly take some getting used to, since WASD is so ingrained into gaming, but a learning curve should probably be expected if you're getting a mouse with a joystick on it! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Outside of movement, this would go great with the (WAY TOO NUMEROUS!) PC games that have a console-optimized UI, which generally revolves around joysticks; games like Star Citizen which switch from space-sim to first-person with gameplay (ZOMG, PARTNER WITH RSI AND MAKE A STAR CITIZEN EDITION OF THIS, + AN IN-GAME RAZER SHIP!! /drool); or any game that needs more keybinds, like MMO's (sticking with WASD movement, the joystick directions could be bound to other functions as well, using Synapse.
Also please bring back the interchangeable side panels!

What do you all think? Would you use this? Or am I thinking too far out of the box? ...cuz I haven't slept in over 48 hours, so if you're going to call into question the quality of my thinking, now would probably be a good time to! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ...then again, this insomnified zombie state of mind seems to be when I get some of my best ideas, so... /shrug.

Gonna go try to sleep again. Wish me luck! Looking forward to your responses! :D

Interesting combos there -- though, I think I'd miss my left click far too much to give it up for a joystick style button thingy. LOL Those things are one of the main reasons I don't use consoles anymore. :D:D

Ditto....good concept but went away from console to the PC as the Naga has helped tremendously. Cant wait for the Naga Epic Chroma to come out

I'm right there with you guys regarding mouse and keyboard superiority over a console controller.

Doesn't it drive you crazy when you boot up a PC game to find it's optimized for console controllers though? Those damn circular menus and whatnot? Would be far less frustrating with one of these.

Also flight - Star Citizen was my primary motivation for posting this. Flight/Space sims are the one thing that a joystick reigns supreme; this device would allow us to get close to that level of control without having to swap devices mid-play.

That is an interesting concept. Not sure about you guys but since I mostly started gaming through consoles I am actually better at the joystick than the mouse. I am not saying I am bad at the mouse either but if I have the ability to use the controller I will.

See, when I started gaming on consoles the controllers didn't have joysticks on them -- unless the entire handheld joystick was the entire controller. LOL

My very first console was one of these:

My second console was one of these:

After that I went on to a PC (which was just a shadow of what we use today) and the 5.25 floppy disks where we'd have between 10-14 floppy disks per game. lol
(kings quest, police quest, leisure suit larry, 7th guest, phantasmagoria, etc)

Once I moved to the PC and started using keyboard/mouse I skipped all the consoles with joysticks. :D:D:D

a mouse is essentially an extension of your own arm. Adding a joystick will completely eliminate and counter that. IMO..... good idea though!
