  1. I guess so. Razer power bricks are unstable since it was designed to be slim i think.
Did you contact Razer Support fot that? Is your charger came with korean letters on spec descriptions?

Yeah i did they suggest me to sent the blade back but i just wanna go back to EC 2.0 ( work fine with me even with lower fps ) so they said that i have to w8 for expert from them to call me within 48h.... Welp if they won't imma try to tell them sent me another adapter since i don't want to sent it back just because of software problem. Lot of u suffer this right? I mean try dota 2 @QHD+ and Max everything and play or just let it there for 30m to see if it drop down? ( or GTA V or Arkham Knight @ 1080p, keyboard lighting 30%, screen brightness 100% )

Experiencing this myself after the latest EC + Nvidia fix. Need to isolate though. Did you try updating intel graphics + forcing video card to verify that this was in fact the case?

Out of topic, but I wonder if there was ever a thread with 135,964 views in this forum before? :eek_:

  8. How does the same QHD laptop get 8900 or 9900 for the same benchmark?

tl;dr answer overclock, move off of an optimus routed display, remove geforce experience, match the panel to the benchmark, tweak nvidia settings, and +/- 0.5% for benchmark variability.

My firestike scores vary by config:
~8950 - out of box, latest drivers
    9050 - remove geforce exp
    9100 - best nvidia tweaks
9300 - match display to 1920x1080x60 (no post benchmark scaling, black border if internal or displayport)

Then overclocking (+200/+400 looks safe so far) yields
9600 on an optimus path (internal, displayport), panel at native
9900 on external hdmi, panel at 1920x1080x60

I believe each config is consistent +/- 0.5%.

I went looking for faulty HW and didn't find it. I also did not find my firestrike score (pick one).
  9. The real question is why with that many views, there is not more interaction from Razer Support Staff...

So after a bit of testing im experiencing weird battery times.

If i dont alter anything i get arround 3 hours of battery life. Power savings and dimming the screen only do marginal difference.
If i go in to the device manager and deactivate and activate the gtx1060 the battery drain lowers, and i get almost double the battery life to 5.30 - 6.00 Hours.

This fix works until i restart my Blade then i have to do it again.

    Hey @Sindoras

... wait, deactivate AND activate... ? one after the other or only activating when using it?

yep deactiving AND activating just one after the other.
    Its weird right ?
Like if the gtx is running on a standard current that draws energy and only after reactiving the pc notices that it has to much power

It is not weird... is f*^% weird. Driver maybe or controller? I don't know.. i will try it on my other laptop today with the same GTX and see if I get any difference.

I am getting a blade today and I still have the MSI, so I will bench both although at this point is kind of useless to expect the RB to be at par of MSI, performance-wise, so I won't do a lot.

I assuming I will get one with the EC4, cause I am not buying it from the MS store but from best buy's second wave (the first one was sold out last month)

BTW, I can certainly live with ANY acceptable performance as long as there is not stuttering in my games... I am not after getting an unrealistic 10k score ... I actually game with my other machines with a FS score of 9600 for ultra for all games.. I do not set my CPU clock at 100% but 99% to reduce heat.

I'm in the same boat, Captain. As long as you hit >8999 razor has done what they promised with the fix.

Well I used black friday and ordered an alienware 15. That's been out for a bit so hopefully I'll be alright. If not I'm going to buy something really really old to the point of being outdated.

Is there anyway to have the Blade set itself to Cool/Quiet mode automatically in Synapse? I'd prefer it to go to Quiet mode when I'm unplugged to save batteries and keep the noise down since I'll never be gaming while it's unplugged, and Cool mode when I get the change to plug in and play stuff. Is there even a difference between the two modes when gaming or will the computer's fans always go fullthrottle once you start working the CPU and GPU?

Hey @SireOblivion . You don't really need Cool Mode on manually when playing, the machine SHOULD cool itself on demand... like any other computer in the world. Either Synapse or Windows will manage the policy, so if you are pushing 82 degrees on the CPU/GPU, the fans will go X RPM, 85 y... so on so forth.. Cool mode does not overclock anything, just accelerates the fans. Right?

It does cool itself when it needs to, but in Cool Mode the fans spin at a much higher RPM (form what I remember, I haven't used Quiet mode since I got the laptop) so that means more airflow and more heat dissipation and lower temps. Theoretically. I'll have to see what the difference in temps is between the two modes. If cool mode is absolutely pointless I'll be happy because I love when the laptop is dead silent, but when I want to keep the temps as low as possible and leaving it in cool mode keeps the fans running all of the time and it's audible. Even though it's low it's still noticeable to me and annoying.

Thanks, I know how a fan and air in general work.

Now, I just got my fourth blade, what a disappointment, for the love of god.

Out of the box, all updates, all tweaks, no OC, no nothing, PRE EC4, 9071, PROCHOT went off, I checked it with HWInfo - I said ".. ok, cool, let's see the update..."

After EC4 -> 9060 ... my GTX 980m hits the 8.7-8.9k ... this is a joke. The processor performs the same same same. No PROCHOT though, sure, but the performance did not change. That might have gotten rid of the PROCHOT, but the low graphics (10 - 10.6k) is just bad.

I had to OC to 175 + 200 to get to 9566, can you game at 9566? sure. What it will be always there, back in the corner, looking at me, the sensation that 1) I am overpaying quality over performance 2) I have no room for overclocking moving forward 3) I am using an MSI product to make the machine work - hehe

I was thinking "Ok, maybe after all this story they upped their game, given the fact that this is a 2.4k machine and people is complaining left and right (5% my butt)"

"Build quality this, build quality that", WHATEVER, this is a benchmarks (comparison between machines) thread of a system which should be performing at the very least 5% better and which company's slogan is "For gamers by gamers". If you want to "fan-boy" me, or argue that the track pad is better than your ex macbook's, do it in another thread, I also have a thinkpad from 1998 which is still running... now THAT is build quality.

Really, is it too much to ask for a machine to work close as how it should out of box?

I am glad for all the people who is at least getting a nice and solid score and performance... I want anyone to argue now this is now a freaking lottery.

Any "magic" tweak I might be missing? I uninstalled basically everything but windows, updated drivers, windows, high performance, cool mode, EC4 .... what else?

100% agree and relate with everything that you said. This has been my story, as well.
Razer now wants me to ship my laptop that I'm using for work to inspect it. I'm leaving on a 2 week business trip for which I need my laptop. Such a poor way of dealing with things. Do we have to involve the CEO to get proper resolution?
