Faulty FHD Razer blade

  1. Having a terrible experience with my 2015 Razer blade FHD.

    Firstly the built in microphone unit is picking up all the internal noises from the fans, even at ticking over level and if trying to game while say on a Skype call it sounds like a jet it taking off to the other person.

    Note: simply on a call with no fans being spooled sounds like a fridge is beside me, according to my friend anyway. I recorded a video and it sounds like a drone-y wind.

    This wasn't a problem on my 2013 model so I know I'm not being picky, its a genuine fault.

    Secondly I've noted that the razer logo on the back isn't evenly clicked into place on the lid and sits deeper into the lid in some areas compared to others. I don't mean to nit pick but when you spend a couple of grand on a high end PC you want the complete aesthetic appeal to be on point.

    Ive seen a few videos on YouTube showing off the nice smooth opening lid and one handed etc .. Mine is a little clunky or something.

    Sending it back for a replacement. But Razer being really organised are 100% out of stock on all systems in the UK at once. I mean you're now valued at a billion dollars and can't keep your main seller in stock.

    Quite a horrible start to owning my second razer blade. Go top it off I'll be expected to foot the postage bill of their faulty product. Delightful.

    Maybe they are getting ready to announce the 2016 model, could work out for you, assuming they offer that up as a replacement. Happened to me once when I took a monitor in for warranty work at a Best Buy.

  3. I guess that would be a decent result but I mean, I really did expect premium treatment with this and I feel ive been pawned off with an item made at 4.50pm on a Friday just before everyone clocked off. It's to many faults to let slip.

    My 2013 model is on point, and I really like it. Comparing it to the FHD its like a trusty work horse compared to this limp FHD paper weight.

    Really let down, Razer support is back logged apparently and replies are days between each other. Terrible there as well (how about live chat, would be superb)

    Hoping someone reaches out with a solution that's ammacble and doesn't leave me sat here fuming.

    Edit: if they do release a 2016 range I'd hope there's a matte display in the line up, have you seen the glossy ones on the QHD models? Look absolutely crazy glarry

    Yeah they're probably stretched really thin atm, what between dealing with the nuclear fallout aftermath of the CES sale and Chinese New Year. If I were you though, I'd just return the faulty Blade and wait for the refresh that's bound to come out soon. If it has a Thunderbolt 3 connection to the Razer Core, too good to pass up imo.

    Glossy screens are required for capacitive touch screens if I'm not mistaken.

  7. My preference really would leave towards a matte display if possible but yeah wanting to send it back, means I'm without a PC for an unknown period of time however. Just generally a bad experience thus far.

  9. 5 days since my email noting the problems and no reply from Razer, quick to take your money but not so quickly to reply when there's a problem ;)

    Only want a replacement

    Nice screen. But, completely unusable except on max brightness in sunlight.

    Hope support get back to you soon, that sucks.
    You shouldn't have to pay for shipping tho. I had to RMA a blackwidow chroma and razerstore EU arranged the collection and paid all delivery costs :eek:

  12. If they do that for me and then replace the blade, I'd be a happy man. No doubt about it.

    Skype is terrible with the mic problem and I use it a lot, so its something that would effect the user experience.

    Keep at it and they'll response sooner or later. Seems like other people here around the forums aren't getting responses either. Must be the Lunar New Year

  14. Yeah I've sent a couple of emails in the same thread with updates on little issues I've found. The sooner it's replaced the better, in the UK we have a law regarding long distance selling and I don't want them taking so long to reply that it conflicts with my ability to return under that law.

    So wouldn't mind them hauling ass a big haha
     
  15. Got a reply today asking for the seriel number and I noticed they've changed me to the UK support, hopefully I'm now on with someone who will resolve this fast. I'm glad the laptop in general works, keyboard etc

    these are minor issues or id be blowing a gasket right now, none the less this microphone is faulty and ive confirmed when the fans spool the software lowers my voice and gives priority to the fans that's how loud it gets haha

    Great to hear to positive update. I wouldn't call it a minor issue though...I'd be ticked off too. It is definitely my expectation that a mic should work flawlessly on a new machine, especially if it's an ultrabook - which are essentially top tier PCs. You're not getting what you paid for so you have a right to complain. Wondering if the mic acts up in other applications besides Skype. How about in-game?

  17. Ive used it on other applications, and it still picks up the noise. I thought it was skype being a pain but having played with the settings and tested other applications is the mic housing.

    Ive had a blade previous, the 2013 with the TN panel. Was bang on so it was, I notice the little green light on this one sits much further in than on my 2013 one, and because theyre basically the same chassis I think someones forgot the mic housing on the day of building mine. I sat both blades beside each other at an angle with the cameras on. The FHD LED wasnt in view from 45 degree eithers side of the screen VS the 2013 model being visable right until the panel was side on. Make sense?

    Other than this, the blade is unreal. Powerhouse.. playing GTA is ace, screen is so colorful and everything is great. Really looking forward to having this niggly problem dealt with and get past this hassle

  19. In a large turn of events, Ive gotten a prepaid fedex return slip and been told my blade will be replaced on return under their warranty guides. Ive kept 99% of the packaging (except that plastic sticker material covering the blade itself)

    Cant wait to get it all sorted!

    ref:_00D301H0hE._500a012A3xM:ref this was at the bottom of the email sent this morning. I was switched the UK support the other day and am now on a new email thread.

    My confidence soared once they agreed to replace it. Even though theyre out of stock, the email said

    "Upon receiving your returned Blade, we will ship the replacement directly to your address. The tracking number will be available as soon as the product leaves our warehouse. "

    Hoping I bypass the restocking of the online store and its a flawless switch over.
