The Ugandan Knuckles meme is clearly racist in origin and has no place on any company's official accounts.

I am not calling for posts made by individuals to be policed but the lack of tact shown by your social team is concerning.

I would like to see a brief retraction and deletion of the post or I'm afraid I am done adding to my collection of Razer goods and services.

Unlike other companies, Razer has a personality.
One of the main reasons why they are my overall most favorite company.

Razer, please don't listed to SJWs like you did with the SMD joke :)

I think Kian has been doing a great job, I thought that the twitter account and all social pages were going to turn more serious after Travis left and everything was changed around, but It is still the same as always, but now there is even more shitposting then before.

I would like to thank the social team for the apology and deletion.

I am sure there was no ill will intended but sometimes there are undertones to content we may not be aware of and I'm glad Razer took the high road here.

Not sure if this is sarcastic or not. But if you're really taking the ugandan knuckles meme as a "problem", you must have no chill. Learn to have a laugh, mate. The meme's intent is not to be racist.

    Hey I won.

    Look's like I was right.

Turns out personality doesn't mean racism.

    I don't think so!

I have a lot of chill, actually!

Can you give any clues as to what the SMD joke was?

My ten cents on this thread:

I'm sure it wasn't this particular thread that had Razer delete the tweet. There was a lot about it from different tech sites, as well.

@TheWill42 has almost 200 posts here, and the community isn't very forgiving of trolling, so I doubt he was trying to troll, and actually took the use of the meme to heart.

However, saying you won isn't really good form - you thank Razer for taking the high road, and then respond to the dissenting comments in a way that is definitely NOT taking the high road yourself.

Might I suggest that if you have a serious issue with something that Razer has done in the public eye and you need to tell the company about it, you would be better served sending one of the official staff a PM, and in that way open a proper dialogue with the company. You have every right to complain on here, but if you want to see a difference being made, go straight to the people who can help make it happen rather than shouting it to the world (as is what happens in a public forum).

It was when the newest MacBook Pro was announced and disn't have an SD card slot. The response: "You call yourself Pro? ... "

But I still don't understand why laughing at Uganda is racist. Saying this is racist is kind of racism because in your opinion skin color has something to do with this, but it's about being undeveloped country. Such countries aren't only in Africa.

When people laugh at Russia nobody says it's racist. They laugh because of stereotypes. Stereotypes usually are funny when you approach to them in right way.

This thread perfectly shows where this whole racism thing leads.

I think Razer just want's to avoid unnecessary discussions which could damage their PR. IMO this is the only reason why this tweet was deleted. And this thread also should be closed because of same reason.

The caricature of Knuckles is not, by itself, racist.

The meme, however, no matter it's origins, has taken on a completely racist slant, with the way Knuckles is supposed to be talking how Africans — not just Ugandans — are perceived to speak English. Add to that, the fact that this meme has been accompanied by audio with people going even further to do some f the non-voiced sounds that certain languages in Africa use, definitely puts it on the side of being a racist meme, however unfortunate that is.

It's sad that you think that talking about the issue of racism is an "unnecessary discussion". Those of us who have experienced racial discrimination or harassment think differently, and would hope that any community would at least ATTEMPT to be sensitive to the issues that the other members feel are important without dismissing those issues, and thereby us, out of hand.

**@TwistedOwl, I mistakenly put "It's sad" which implies that I think you are "sad". My apologies. I meant to say "It makes me sad".

It would have to be an issue of racism for people to consider that a relevant discussion. Going super saiyan social justice warrior doesn't make your claims valid. It just makes people laugh at how hard you've been baited and how much mental gymnastics people will go through to be offended by anything. :)

I can't understand why this meme isn't racist [IMG] and the Uganda Knuckles is.
Someone can explain to me please?

Is the person who made the meme Italian? That would be your first clue.

The next question would be if Italians would be offended by it or not. If not, then I'd say no.

    I don't even get it.

But the Ugandan Knuckles meme has a very racist history in its usage. That is what makes it racist. The meme itself might not have started out as having any kind of racist undertones, but people took it to a whole other level, and now it can't be distanced from that unfortunate level.

Uh oh, a little 14 year old that think they matters was told by their friends that it was racist so they come here, bitching and threatening to never buy Razer again. Well, couple things.

    1. If you are offended by the meme, you are a stuck up prat. Memes are jokes. They are meant to be that way.

    2. The social team at Razer can post whatever they feel like, it's not in your place to tell them what is right and wrong to post. Trying to say "I won't buy Razer again unless I get what I want" shows us that you have serious power issues, and are clearly used to getting your way by throwing your weight around. Welcome to the real world, that doesn't work. No one cares about you.

    3. Are you Ugandan? I am willing to bet you aren't. You have no place saying what is and what isn't offensive to them.

    4. No one cares about you. They aren't going to retract their post simply because you threaten not to buy stuff from them. Stop acting like a little privileged child and grow up. The world is an offensive place, but if you chose to be offended then that's your fault. Start making better decisions.

    5. Team Razer deleted the post. They absolutely did not have to do that. The fact that they were willing to listen to you shows how caring and considering they are. They clearly did not mean any offence. You should apologize to them for the way you have acted, and apologize for insinuating that they are racist. They are clearly not.

Hope this helps with your self improvement struggle.

I don't know if that was made by an italian guy or not, this meme was used a lot some months ago, I'm sure someone get offended by that (as some people get offended by Uganda Knuckles), but the majority of people laught at that (other italians too).
Same thing for other memes, you can find comments of people that think that's racist, and other people that's saying it's not.

That's the point, you will always hear people complain about something (like, for example, the quality of razer's products), but it's only a percentage, it's hard to understand if it's the majority or not without any number at hand.
