    Hey Guys!

I've searched the forum for this but couldn't find any answer. Sorry if this is an existing topic.

I'm thinking about getting a Razer Ornata, but I absolutely hate the mechanical keyboard trend from nowadays which unfortunately have become Razer main line. They're so freaking loud and unusable on daily work tasks, specially on an open office environment (yes, I use Razer products for things besides gaming like work and productivity tasks)

I personally prefer chiclet to mid-height keys like the Razer Lycosa or Deathstalker, and the Ornata was the one most close to it from the recent models. I still use a Razer Lycosa Mirror in one of my work stations, since for me, it's one of the best keyboards made by Razer so far (traditional looking without bunck of macro keys, key spacing, mid-height keys, dedicated media panel and specially the USB, Mic and Headphone ports). I'd definitely buy 3 of them if there were any newer version with some RGB effects.

I've seen pictures of the keyboard without the keys caps showing a piece of metal blade, so my question is: is it possible to remove the metal blade that provide that "click" feel and sound i? Or even squeeze it down a little bit so it would NOT make the clicky sound?

I would like to transform the Ornata into a quieter and more of a full membrane keyboard without those metal clicky sounds if possible, since Razer doesn't have offer this for the newest line.

Why not just pick up a different keyboard thats just pure membrane? The whole point of the Ornata is the mecha membrane feel...

Unfortunately, the pure membrane models from Razer are old and outdated and they don't even sell on their website them anymore. There aren't pure membrane available on their website, only the Ornata and the Turret.

I never said you had to pick up a Razer one. I mean don't get me wrong, I love Razer and always get their products when I can....but it seems like Razer doesnt have what you want. So why not pick up a different keyboard from a different company? And it seems like you dont like the mechanical keyboards for the loudness of them in a work environment; why not pick up some with orange or yellow switches? Those are totally quiet enough. I use Razer keyboards at work every single day, and the oranges are perfect for a quiet work environment .

Yeah I get what you mean. Unfortunately I'm bound to Razer. I can't find any other product that provide as much s Razer products provides. Think of as a Casemod or a Car Tuning, the original piece is great, but there's always something missing that you'd like to change to suit your needs/personality :big_grin_:

    Thanks :D

I've got my Ornata yesterday and it was very easy to remove the metal blades, and now the keyboard is perfect for me :D

I'd stick with the "mecha feel", but typing with them makes the clicks so loud.

I just found the keyboard a bit taller though, that's why I see many people using indeed the wrist rest. I can't support to use them, but the keyboard is perfect in every single way.
