Most of my gaming is done either on the computer or on console. Rarely, do I game on mobile. I have nothing against the mobile platform, I think it's a great way to spend time gaming, but it's not for me. Mainly because I like sitting with a big screen and I'd rather not be spending my time tethered to a charger or wade through the myriad of microtransactions that gate the gameplay experience. With the exception of Pokémon GO and previously Hearthstone, I don't pay much attention to gaming on my phone.

Enter Diablo Immortal. For a mobile game, it's great. I've managed to get through the entire campaign without spending a dime. And despite the fact that most of my playtime has been on the PC version, I don't have many complaints. But I'm sure a lot of you have heard about the record breaking score on Metacritic and the obscene amount of microtransactions. Here's the thing, to me, it feels fine. I expect it in a mobile game. Others see it as a blemish on Blizzard and a stain on the Diablo franchise. That seems - extreme. Nintendo has mobile games and I don't really play them much because of all the reasons I listed and my life doesn't feel like it's missing out on anything. Let people enjoy the IP's that they would otherwise have to buy an entire console for.

That's where I stand. What about you, Insiders? How do you feel about mobile gaming. Are microtransactions out of control or are they just a product of mobile gaming? Like and comment with your thoughts for a chance at the weekly "Great" achievement and for every 20 comments, I'll throw in a "Like" achievement.

In my case, I'm not used to play mobile games for 5 years.
Only one exception is Super Mario Run. It is only game I can play now. And it's great.
Last thing, I just wanna say "Niiiiiiiiiintendo!"

Same as you, I am not into mobile gaming as well. I think, the micro transactions and games are designed as such that you have to spend or often give up on some exclusive items in the game.

I only play 1 game on mobile that is Harry Potter : Hogwarts Mystery. My experience with it hasn't been very nice. But for a potter fan, I will do with it. They have decent story, but the game mechanics don't impress me.

Now compare that to any Harry potter game on PC, the difference in levels is different. PC games tend to make so much interaction, unlike my experience with mobile phones.

    Dang, beaten for first :slightly_sad:

IMO they're out of control. Every F2P game have some microtransactions. In some games these are not micro anymore. No, I don't pay, it doesn't make sense to buy for eg. some skins which makes only visual change to the character.

Some mobile games have benefits for viewing ads, and sometimes I use it.

IMO Diablo games are considered grinding games and grinding games is not for everyone :)

The player should have the patience to play the game, complete missions and praying to the Gaming Gods to shine you the loots that you are looking for.

And for me, the devs just provided you an option. Pay us and we will shine your avatar, lol.

But the end of the road, it's the player's option on what to take.

For me, as a gamer-dad, will take the long road and enjoy the journey :)

Mobile gaming is only for when you are on vacation and without a laptop. Otherwise, why would one stick to a small screen of a constantly hot device that discharges in several hours? o_O

Microtransactions are evil on any platform

microtransactions are just part of the Free to Play Business Model, good for attain player base for the games to grow bigger.

I got into mobile gaming with a game I think was just made for Mobile gaming - Samurai 2 vengeance. However there are few games which are actually fun to be only played on mobile like Angry birds & Candy Crush (yes, this was easier to play in classes especially if you had hawk eyed teachers!!). Though most games now seem to be pushing for the MT verse where you can only play via MicroTransactions only.

In short yes they are. But on the other hand We are not forced to pay a single cent to have fun, of course without paying we wont be strongest, shinniest etc. etc. but in 95% of F2P games We`d be fine.

Ι hate microtransactions. No other way to put it. Some games do them well but 90% they ruin games and mobile gaming an addictive plague.
Those game are engineered to create mindless spenders for virtual aka fake af stuff for dummies who have money to throw away and time to waste.

I totally agree with you Dekades, i feel just the same about mobile gaming. Although i think i would've played Diablo Immortal if the controls for PC weren't exact the same as for mobile, i mean the UI and all that. And one other thing, it feels like a reworked version of Diablo 3, same maps, similar mobs kinda meh.

While microtransactions are expected for mobile games, there is such a thing as too many. Some mobile games barely have any and rely on ads while some just completely bombard you with microtransactions. I use mobile games as a way to pass time somewhere, so I personally enjoy quite simple mobile games that don't *need* microtransactions.

so i really wanted to get into this as it's on this week's mobile Paid To Play, but clicking on Install only takes me to a pre-registration (early access) page in Google Play. Can't play the game so can't score Silver! :-/
