It was located here: Favorite anime but occasionally when threads get too old they get locked up by the staff. Though, it's probably still a good idea to browse through it and see what people enjoyed, and check the date of the last post to see when we last discussed this topic.

I think that due to the extremely broad coverage of the OP we should categorize the discussion.

    These are my inputs:

From beginning until recently (2-3 years?) (P/S: the original 70's gundam would count):
Best Classic Anime (Original): (No.1:) Ghost in the Shell : SAC & (No.2) Code Geass
(P/S: i know the original Gits movie was based on manga but then this differs so much from the original already)
Best Classic Anime Movie (Original): Mononoke Hime
Best Classic Anime (Based on Manga): SlamDunk
((*&#*%^#*% Reboot it, cut out the filler, pace it faster and give us the goddame national tournament arc !)

    Recently (2-3 years recently)
Best Recent Anime (Original): Aldnoah Zero
Best Recent Anime Movie (Original & Based on **): Kimi no na wa
Best Recent Anime (Based on Manga/Light Novel): (No.1 Boku no Hero Academia) & (No.2 Shingeki no Kyojin)

Code Geass drop to No.2 on my list because of the extra 5 secs extended ending from the BD.

Spoiler Alert ? (Not really, its all over the internet anyways)
Lelouch is alive, he's the cart driver of the cart carrying hay and c.c. sleeping on said hay at the end of the anime.

Not shown in the TV ending but fans speculated based on the driver's black hair, and confirmed when the BD was released (extended 5 seconds when the driver looks up and you see his eyes).

We all got touched and worked up for nothing as he didn't died (i'm a grown man and i was really tearing up), and this decision was made to squeeze more milk out of a very successful franchise.

It was such a perfect ending, but they ruin it anyways because they don't want to destroy a highly potential money grabbing opportunity.

I really, really liked SAO. The first one was great, but the second one, not so much. For my favorite manga (so far) I would say the original dragonball series. It's really cool, and honestly, I haven't even finished it, but once I do, I'm gonna watch the whole series lol
