For our What’s in Your Bag feature this month, we chat with Razer fan and collector extraordinaire, @ElementOne. You’ve probably seen him updating this very thread, or maybe even spotted him around Razer Insider talking about his collection or commenting on new product reveals.

I generally like to keep my bag as light as possible so that it’s easier to move around. I’m always carrying my Razer Blade, Razer Deathadder Elite, Razer Moray, WD Hard drive, Travel Case for charging cables, Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, Samsumg Galaxy S8+, Samsung Gear S3 Classic, Razer lanyard with 3 Thumb Drives, and 2 Msticks Multi Use Smart LED Light.

It has got to be my mobile phone. To me, it’s the all-in-one device and I can’t leave home without it or I can’t keep in touch with my co-workers and business associates, check my mail or surf the web on the go. I also use my phone for watching YouTube and Twitch videos, and occasionally play Hearthstone on the go.

Every day, I start by checking my phone before I get out of bed. I look over messages, mail, and check the weather forecast. I also spend time checking out the daily currency exchange and updates on my auctions. When those are done, I get my butt out of bed and prepare for work.

Outside of work, I surf the web to hunt down rare and discontinued Razer products and play some games, but mostly spend time with my wife and family. Occasionally, I hang out with some friends for a drink or two.

It started when I was 17. I was initially reluctant to get a Razer product as it was too expensive for me as a student. But a friend who introduced me to Razer said I should really try a product out. At the time, I was still using my old Microsoft ball mouse and keyboard.

So I caved and purchased the Razer Krait as it was all I could afford then. When I reached home, I plugged it in to play some Counter-Strike to find out what the big deal was. That feeling of using the mouse for the first time totally blew my mind—and I fell in love with the Razer Krait.

From then, I slowly saved up and got myself a whole set of Razer peripherals—Razer Moray headphones, the Razer Destructor mouse mat and the Razer Lycosa Keyboard. I used these for several years until they were worn and old before finally upgrading.

I remember going to my local PC store to purchase the Razer Mamba and stumbled upon a Razer Krait Atomic Red Edition. This was possibly what sparked everything. I’m not sure how I would describe it, but it was a mixture of thrill, happiness and nostalgia. I bought it in a heartbeat along with the Razer Mamba.

Eventually, I developed a habit of visiting stores in search of Razer legacy products. I would spend hours and hours doing this every weekend. It was also around the time where Razer started producing special edition Razer Deathadders, which further piqued my interest in collecting them.

If I couldn’t find the products where I was, I would look for them when I traveled overseas. But I quickly realized that it wasn’t very productive and would instead go through Amazon, Craigslist, eBay, tech forums and more—all to search of Razer legacy products.

I would ask even business partners and friends from different countries to obtain some for me if they were region-exclusive. I’ve also traded products with a few other Razer Fans from Singapore, Korea, Japan and the UK to expand my collection.

This has been going on for 12 years now. For me, collecting Razer peripherals has always been about the thrill of acquiring legacy products. I’m clearly addicted to it. I did not get serious about collecting Razer products until I was 22, and by then, most legacy products were either discontinued or no longer sold in my local stores. Now, if I’m lucky, I might still be able to find some gems lying in the back storage of a store.

I think all the Razer peripherals I own are all my prized possessions. But if I had to choose, it would be the Razer Boomslang 1000 & 2000. I can’t pick just one since they are both the earliest mice Razer produced. I also got them signed by Min Liang Tan during the Razer AFK Malaysia in August.

I had a couple of 2nd hand Boomslangs that I obtained from a popular internet forum in Malaysia, but they never came with the original packaging and tin case. After years of searching, I found both the Boomslang 1000 and 2000 in an unused condition listed on eBay. That’s how I got my hands on these two rare mice.
