I just received my RBP17 4k today, and I had heard about this issue a little prior to ordering. I also noticed that my drivers are stuck on 4/15, so I'm going to assume that the best thing for me to do is to just wait on an official notice about updating. I assumed that it wouldn't take all THAT long to fix the issue, but I guess if its already been 3 months and there's not even an identification of the problem at hand, it could be an issue for a long time to come.

Coincidentally, how big of an issue is this? I love this laptop to death so far, and it has the nicest display I've ever seen on a computer, but to see some people choosing to possibly return their machines over this is a little eye opening.
My bad I'm also on 1.06 the latest one and yes mines in always on 120hz. Forgot to add that I don't have any stock ram or ssd in my Razer laptop

You will be able to play games, one would hope that eventually they fix this, I think COVID is making it take longer than normal given that most are working from home.

This is quite interesting! What mods have you made to your laptop?

I am currently working offsite, so I don't have all the details. But as far as I know, this only happens when updating the GPU driver to version 451.48 on Windows 10 2004.

@LuizHBento

We are doing what we can. A quick Google search would tell you that this isn't a Razer only issue as this has something to do with the updates that came with Windows 10 2004. Microsoft and NVIDIA had already stated that they are working together with their partners to fix this.

I think on rep on nvidia replied on reddit or at least one posted here https://www.reddit.com/r/razer/comments/hjmm3k/razer_blade_15_psa_if_you_update_to_windows_v2004/
and said that the problem was the bios from razer it has to be update like the other person said other laptop works without any issue.
The only thing I change/added was a

1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus

2TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus

Crucial Ballistix 3200 MHz DDR4 DRAM Laptop Gaming Memory Kit 64GB (32GBx2)

I don't think this is the reason why people have problems.

That could be true but I find it weird that I use to have the black screen problem all the time. Now I don't get it anymore regardless if I upgrade my drivers/windows or not.

It has to do with hybernation, laptop goes into hybernation but the screen does not work.
My question to you is, did you have the problem at some point? and if you did, what solved it for you?

So I went ahead and installed an OLDER VERSION OF WINDOWS prior to the May 2020 update and I can CONFIRM that I updated my NVIDIA GAME READY DRIVERS and it works fine.
It is a big pain in the rear to doit but for those who want to try feel free to ask. In the meantime I will not update to 2004 until NVIDIA and Microsoft work out a solution.

Hey mate, how did you do that? So you install a version of Windows that is even older than the out-of-factory version? Please show me how. Thanks.
Yes I had this problem at some point. I believe it was about 4-6 drivers back but since then no issues with black screens. The only issues I have now is when the laptop boot up Sometimes the laptop will make macro freezes and will stay like that until I reboot it. This also happens when I try to record using GeForce Experience.

Yes, also my Synapse will crash immidietly after a game and I need to wait for it to respond.

This issue was present before Windows 2004. When I received my Blade Pro 17 I was getting the notification that there weren't any newer drivers and that was weeks before installing 2004.

Hi everyone! I've seen that there are users with Blade 17 2020 claiming that the issue was resolved after installing the available update for BIOS and NVIDIA drivers, while others remain unresolved. I've reported it to our Support Team.

For those users who still have an issue with the Blade 17 2020, please send me a PM or reply to this post so I can send you a message directly.
Hi, I did it too. I reinstalled windows; this time version 1909 and i can confirm that I can use the razer with the latest nvidia studio drivers in Nvidia GPU only mode with 120 Hz. Windows version: 1909, Nvidia 451.77. I did not have a black screen or something similar
I still have the problem and I believe most people still do. So far I recall only ONE user claiming that their problems have been resolved, but this user is also claiming to have replaced both SSD's and RAM, meaning there was a fresh install involved and likely other internal modifications that void Warranty. I'll send you a PM.
Same issue here, I had to down grade to previous drivers. Here is a helpful trick, External monitor support will work even though the laptop screen wont. Once I plugged in monitor I was able to revert to older drivers that work. Razer REALLY needs to fix this. I posted last month about it and my post was deleted.
Razer Blade Pro 17 4k 120hz. 2020.
Follow the black screen problem, everything is updated bios, Windows, Synapse etc.
It doesn't work and it never worked. Almost a year now. Amazing.

Mmmh? Doesn’t seem to be that issue. Microsoft is talking about older drivers whereas we have the problem with the latest Nvidia drivers. Since other manufacturers obviously don’t have this issue, I suppose Razer itself is still in the game to solve this.

I received my Pro 17 a month ago and just found out about this driver mess. Shame on me I suppose.. that said, mine arrived with Win10 1909 (18363.959 if it helps anyone) installed, and I manually updated to the most recent game ready driver just fine. Though Geforce Experience wouldn't as noted in prior posts.

I guess stay clear of 2004 until whatever issue it has is resolved.

Thanks 4K2HD! I replied to your PM.

Hey JuanOlivares. I sent you a PM.
Yea i had this issue for a while now and Razer has no info on my case

I black screened, dealt with it, and stumbled upon this thread. WTF is this real Razer? I should have known there was an issue when I had to manually download and install. I don't feel like (at this time) going with an earlier windows version out of laziness, but had I seen this before ordering this thing I wouldn't have. Razer dropping the ball on this when, in my case, the RBP17 4k was a $3799 purchase, is inexcusable. As was stated before, the device is incapable atm of many of the marketed features, which is false advertisement to say the least, and likely worthy of compensation. My return window closes on the 12th, and I'm highly annoyed in having to face this decision but this is probably going back. Look's like it's out of stock but Razer is knocking $100 bucks off the price now down to $3699 on their site the only catch is you can't update your graphics drivers or do many of the things they market the device as being able to do. Major fail.
