Look at this response time, wish Razer would be that fast :big_grin_:

So, you could close your cover, the laptop goes into sleep mode without hibernation, preserves energy and you could continue later as nothing happened in between? That would be really worth a shot then.

Yes, just research it and try it out. Nothing to lose as you can always reset settings to default.
FYI for anybody installing 451.58. You will lose dedicated GPU with the laptop screen, and will need to enabled optimus in the bios.

This also means you lose 4k 120hz! I'd refrain from this driver for the time being.

So did you loose undervolting when you updated the BIOS?
I am now on a fresh windows install of the older 2004 version.
Razer Blade Pro 17 4K (2020) BIOS 1.06 - Win build 19042.685 - NVIDIA game ready driver 460.89

When on dedicated GPU mode I can boot into windows and use it fine but only at 60hz.
However, if I put it to sleep or hibernate I get the black screen.
Changing to 120hz causes an instant black screen.

I just want 120HZ. I don't even care about the sleep/hibernate issue lol. Just want the refresh rate I paid for

Guys, I haven't personally had any issues as of late, I am on BIOS 1.6 with the latest NVIDIA drivers and the latest Windows updates. I am on GPU only mode and on 120hz.

However, this is not becasue of anything RAZER did to fix the problem because as is evident, everyone is experiencing issues one way ot another.

So how did I fix the problem of the screen going black when in Hybernation mode? EASY.. just dont let you laptop to EVER go into hybernation mode. I am not sure exactly step by step how I did this but if you mess around deeply with POWER SETTINGS there is a way to prevent Hybernation from ever kicking in. I am sure this affects my battery life in some way, now don't get me wrong I can still put the laptop in SLEEP mode but remember these are two different power settings however I try not to use Sleep if I can avoid it, I just turn OFF the laptop when I don't use it.

I encourage you guys to try this out and look into how to AVOID HYBERNATION as it seems to be an issue that affects other laptops and or PC's having problems in hybernation.

DISCLAIMER; IT COULD BE THAT I AM TOTALLY LUCKY AND THAT THAT THERE ARE OTHER REASONS WHY MY LAPTOP IS WORKING, HOWEVER THIS COULD WORK FOR YOU.

Hope this info helps and I hope Razer comes up with a permanent solution, instead of leaving us out to dry like they have been so far. I still hold hope that they will BRING BACK UNDERVOLTING!! with a future BIOS.

Good Luck!

As soon as I switch to 120hz the screen goes black so this doesn't work for me.

When you say "it doesnt work" what do you mean?
More importantly. what steps did you take to prevent hibernation?

Well for one if I even just close my laptop and open it I get a black screen.

If I go into windows or nvidia or razer settings and change to 120hz from 60hz it goes black instantly

Hibernation and sleep mode is disabled everywhere in windows. Laptop lid is set do nothing when closed, same for the power button. Screen and system set to never turn off. If I close the lid/screen it goes black upon opening.

Hibernation on or off has no effect on me simply changing to 120hz in razer cp and getting a black screen instantly

You presume people only have black screen on wake from sleep. This isn't the case for everyone. Me and some others are having black screen on boot.
The latest update from Razer supprt is that since I upgraded to windows 10 pro ..

You updating to Win 10 Pro has literally nothing to do with the Nvidia driver issues. Razer is just failing in their support of these laptops while knowing full well that there is an issue with their GPU's and the Nvidia Drivers that are being released.

I have been able to boot into GPU mode without any problems, again, I could've just gotten lucky but then again, computers are not magical are they?

I'm betting on the horse that says you got lucky. I just tried installing the latest NVIDIA Drivers, disabled hibernation (powercfg.exe /hibernate off), then went into settings and where it says "Choose what closing the LID does", I changed it to "do nothing". So the laptop shouldn't go to sleep ever or hibernate.

It worked fine on Optimus as expected. When set to Dedicated GPU, it had output through the BIOS welcome screen and then even the HDMI output went blank on Windows Login Screen.

Razer should offer FREE replacements to all of us and subsequently, STOP selling this laptop unit this issue is resolved.

Seconded. This was not a cheap laptop. I've invested so much time and even upgraded the RAM and SSD. I'd hate to have to return this thing but it's not much useful the way it is right now.

As soon as things start working again, I'm gonna take a BIOS + VBIOS dump, write down my NVIDIA Driver, Intel Driver and Windows version and not upgrade this thing. This is the second time this laptop has been rendered useless by updates. I hate it.
Also don't upgrade to the recently released 451.67, they do not fix the issue.
Razer Blade Pro 17 4K (late '19) - BIOS 1.04 - Win 20H2 build 19042.685 - NVIDIA game ready driver 460.89

Yesterday it was quite similar. After I opened the cover to wake the laptop from hibernation, the BIOS message appeared, the Razer logo and the dotted circle from the windows boot and as soon as the login screen should come up, the screen went dark and kept it this way until reboot. Before this, it worked approximately a dozent of times. Also the normal screen saver needs to be turned off to avoid black screen. I'm certain, when I install the next NVIDIA update, the screen will also stay black and needs a reboot.
I have the same problem I wanna undervolt but bios 1.03 won’t allow it
I was never able to get another GPU driver to install - except for the last functioning one. Like, it would go through the install process and then flicker and then black screen. Every. Single. Bloody. Time. I finally set mine up for a refund and ordered and XPS 17, fully loaded. The gaming capabilities aren't as good and I'm going to miss that 120hz screen (I think, I barely got to use it) - but to know I have a laptop I can use every single time I open it or update it is a huge bonus.

Since you updated the Bios, undervolting is pretty much gone unless Razer allows it in a future bios or provides a means of downgrading.
I like many of you, have been having the same issue (can't wake up from sleep, opening lid to black screen etc.) On the latest bios for my late 2019 4k 120hz and having all the same problems as you have all explained. I can get into windows and play some games, but most of the time when I go full screen I get the dreaded black screen. Nothing works other than plugging in secondary montior or hard reset) I have followed all the suggestions on here, including now submitting a case with razer as per speed.cross request. Support has gotten back to me asking some
Hello,

Just have the 15 inch model. I noticed the last post of a Razer representative is already two weeks ago.
Is this still and issue; can I download and install the newest nvidia driver for my system?
Support has gotten back to me asking some weird questions prior to escalatiny my case (such as proof I was told to submit a claim)? Strange, I'll keep you all posted with what support says. Only driver versions that works is 452 (August 2020) other than that, nothing but issues. Let's hope we get some resolution soon

This is definitely still an issue.
Having the same issue...

Very disappointing to not be able to have the latest GAMING drivers in a GAMING RIG...

Hello, please go to the link and give Nvidia feedback about the driver. The more you give feedback, the higher the chance that something will change.

Done !

With no answers forthcoming from Razer on this I feel like I wasted $4K. This situation strikes me as the kind of issue that deserves a class action lawsuit.
