This is not a USB or motherboard problem. It happens to my razer keyboard and mouse at the same time. My Chroma lighting on my keyboard will revert to default color design when it disconnects, and then back to my preferred chroma settings when it reconnects. It disconnects and reconnects every couple of seconds until I reboot. Even if I plug my keyboard and mouse into different pots, the problem persists. I've tried plugging my mouse and keyboard into USB ports that I know don't have a problem, because I have other devices plugged into them that stay connected all the time. However, the problem persists no matter which USB ports I use.
My mouse experiences the exact same problem at the same time, which makes it nearly impossible to use, because when it disconnects, I obviously have no input. It reconnects for a second or 2, but then immediately disconnects again.
I have tried to hard-close the synapse software while it's doing this, but it gets stuck. Even if I close the software when its doing this, it continues doing it until I reboot.
I have my synapse drivers up to date. I downloaded and installed the new Viper Ultimate firmware. Everything is up to date.
Currently using Razer Blackwidow Chroma V2 keyboard, and Viper Ultimate Wireless mouse.
(IMPORTANT) The only way I can avoid this problem is to uninstall synapse completely, rendering most of the features obsolete. I want Razer to be aware of this, because these products are expensive, and most of the features of the products are built into a software bundle that does not work for me. There are other threads on this forum about this exact same problem, that were left open with no resolution from 2021. Razer must be aware of this, if they aren't, I will continue posting about it until they are.
I had no issues with Razer until I had to replace my wired kitty headset with the wireless one. That’s when the disconnecting issues started. I went through back and fourth with support for almost 6 months before they sent me a replacement. I asked if I could upgrade to a wired set at the time, which they were unable to do for me.
The disconnecting would happen and then it would just get stuck in pairing, I would have to exit my game to reconnect my headset. That was super annoying in games like COD! Then when that headset would reconnect, I had the loudest static screaming in my ear, or into my teammates ear. It seems to only get this issue when I play COD, or if synapse is installed.
They sent me a replacement wireless headset and it is still doing the disconnecting. Luckily, this one is no longer making the loud noise when they do reconnect, however I rarely use them anymore due to the stress my old headset caused me.
Now my wireless viper mouse is doing the same disconnect and reconnect thing every two seconds. I think this is worse while gaming than my headset going out and having to close the game to fix it. Now, Even restarting my computer won’t fix it immediately. It needs to be off overnight now when it happens.
After what Razer put me through trying to replace my garbage headset, I am at the point where I would rather but a new device from another company than to deal with their ‘customer service’ again. It’s sad too because I was so excited to get all of the matching quartz razer gear for my PC.
The issue still persists here as well. However in my case it is noticeable only if mouse and keyboard are connected to Blade laptop through an USB hub:
If the problem happens with hub only I wonder about voltage on hub. Does the brand of hub matter, can you attach power plug. Is it only when hub attach to razer laptop.
That just give me more questions does windows log any errors. What is firmware and bios version. Hopefully reported to support with case #.
It happens with an arbitrary USB hub including a cheap UGreean on-powered or with Razor’s Thundorbolt 4 Dock which is powered. Which Windows logs do you mean? BIOS, firmware, Synapse 3, Windoes Updates, Intel, Nvidia - everything is the latest.
The windows error log. Also any bios settings for usb ? I'm wondering if it's the mouse or hub disconnecting. Did you get support case number?
I am wondering if a USB analyzer gave more insights. Has anyone tried such a software before?
No never needed one normally found problem. Before I used one. But did help a few cases detect low voltage. Mostly firmware or adjustments to lift off distance fixed problem. That or low mouse battery.
Had this issue with my Basilisk V2.
Turns out it shipped with a broken cable. That explains why the disconnects only happened during fast-paced usage.
For me, it seems that the power management of the USB electronics is not robust enough. Currently I see the issue very seldom at an acceptable level after:
- removing 4TB Samsung 990 Pro SSD (I need to see which SSD will work with Blade 16)
- using the short OEM cable (longer active Belkin TB4 cable caused issue only with Blade16, works well with another laptop)
The same issue. My USB dongle of Razer Naga Pro V1 is disconnected instatly after connecting. Every updates of Firmware, Hyperspeed, deleting of Synapse and all drivers (by DriverCleanup) is not working... USBLogView cannot read dongle… Dongle is dead after 2 years using this mouse. I think, should to buy Logitech next time… Thanks for bad expirience...
I had the very same issues with Razer Synapse 4 and my Huntsman V3 Pro keyboard.
On booting the PC, the Synapse software would start then shortly after teh keyboard would disconnect and reconnect.
I solved this by logging out and signing into the Synapse 4 software as a Guest. Rebooted the PC and No disconnects. Imported my saved profiles, rebooted and still OK. Logged back into my account and all is well… No disconnects.
Im a Razer Customer since 5 Days more or less and bevor i thought the worst software has logitech (was my equipment) but i was wrong the most fuckled up software on market is from Razer. I have installed (clean installation) Razer Synapse V3 already 3 times and Razer Synapse V4 5 Times (no joke).
And now i found the best soloution for me, im sending back all al the TRASH Hardware from Razer, deinstall the Software from Hell and going to get a Wooting Keyboard (Razer already copied the features from wooting anyway) i will go to the original.
Good Luck everybody else who will have more nerves than me and keeps his Razer shit hardware.
Is anyone still having the problem where your keyboard becomes unresponsive for about 5 seconds randomly? I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled Synapse many times now and restarted my pc. Everything is up to date but no matter what I do the keyboard will freeze randomly, and if I am holding a key at that time then I at stuck “holding” that key until my keyboard unfreezes. How can I fix this because so far support just tells me to send files of my Synapse and not how to fix the problem.
Disconnected too many time. This product is the highest price mouse that I have bought. I see this problem is from 6 years ago; and it hasn’t been fixed yet… How can I avoid this issue again?
here now in 0ct 2024 but i have the same problem. i use razer deathadder v2 pro mouse via bluetooth. i tried to uninstall synapse and install again. seem like it works! but i have no idea will this problem gonna happen again cause I've run into this problem twice this year. please please please fix this bug
I have this issue. I suspect its an issue with the driver of the usb dongle.
Heres what I did with my razer deathadder pro v2. Youre mileage may vary
- Uninstalled synapse
- Removed the usb dongle from the chroma dock (razer mouse charger dock)
- Put usb into a direct port into PC
- downloaded latest firmware for mouse. Use bluetooth/direct connection and not 2.4ghz wireless for operation
- install firmware for mouse/dongle combo
- restart pc
I tend to have a more stable connection, especially with the usb in a direct port. I 100% think its the flakey dongle and the chroma dock doesnt help.
TL;DR
From my experience with a Basilisk V3 Pro these solutions might help (I don’t know if these work on non-mouse devices, but you could try):
- Uninstall and/or reinstall Razer Synapse. Don’t forget to restart your pc (via “restart”, not “shut down”), turning off auto-update in Synapse might help
- Check the dongle, try plugging it into a different USB port, if your mouse starts working again - the dongle might be dying. RMA, buy a new Dongle/Mouse Dock, try Bluetooth, try wired, buy a different company mouse
- Check the 2.4 GHz switch, if you hold it and the device doesn’t turn off - it’s faulty. Try to stuff a piece of plastic in the opening to keep the switch in place.
End of TL;DR
I’ve purchased Basilisk V3 Pro 2 years ago and in that time I’ve had issues like this multiple times.
Once or twice it was a Razer Synapse issue that was solved by uninstalling and/or reinstalling the software. The issue did occur only after an automatic Synapse update, so maybe turning off auto-update is a solution too (currently impossible to do on Synapse v4 though).
One time the basic dongle just died. I tried unplugging it from the “range extender” and plugging into a normal USB port, it worked for a day or two before dying completely.
Unfortunately for me it happened ~1 month after my 1 year warranty ran out, so I had no choice but to either buy the Hyperspeed dongle or the Mouse Dock. Settled on the Mouse Dock (which also has its problems like the lighting not turning off automatically) and the issues didn’t reappear until now.
Yesterday Synapse auto-updated again and some time after the mouse started turning off again. I’ve tried reinstalling Synapse (including v4), removing drivers with the special tool from these forums, changing USB ports of the mouse dock, essentially every solution listed on Reddit/here bar reinstalling Windows and disassembling the mouse.
Turns out it’s (most likely) a faulty 2.4GHz switch. Easy way to check if you have the same problem is to slightly touch the switch, if the mouse starts working again and then turns off - try pressing and holding the switch in 2.4 position, if the mouse doesn’t turn off - you have this issue. What I’ve also experienced is that after you leave the mouse to rest and come back - it’ll work for some time, before stopping again, which I’m assuming is plastic slightly heating up and expanding, triggering the switch to slightly press “off”.
I’ve solved it by cutting out and stuffing a plastic cotton bud piece to push and hold the switch in the 2.4 position, so far it works like a charm.
It’s wild how inconsistent Razer hardware quality is. I’ve bought the Basilisk due to my Corsair Dark Core’s mouse wheel dying, and I love it, but these disconnects certainly soured the whole experience. Granted the mouse still worked in wired mode, but I didn’t buy a wireless mouse to use it wired.
I have this issue. I suspect its an issue with the driver of the usb dongle.

Forgot to mention I used the pairing utility agai, thats probably the main thing lol
I have a Deathadder v3 wired mouse and I have this disconnect/reconnect issue. It starts/stops randomly, with or without the Synapse software running (or even installed). Tried all the troubleshooting steps provided by both Razer and fellow users. I eventually requested an RMA and got a replacement unit, and the issue still persists, even after uninstalling Synapse/drivers/etc, reinstalling the newest version (4), updating the mouse’s firmware, and sacrificing a small goat. What good is a replacement unit if the main issue isn’t resolved? Should I request another RMA for the replacement unit they already sent? Another RMA after that?
For all intents and purposes, once Razer got my money they stopped caring, only putting forth enough effort to say they tried...or at least didn’t ignore the request for support. They have these products made for a fraction of the price they charge that don’t actually provide any new/unique functionality, which is why they opt to send replacement units rather than invest in staff that can provide helpful support...it’s cheaper to blame the hardware and delay dealing with the actual issue.
Razer used to be my go-to for gaming peripherals and I used to never have an issue...one mouse lasted over two years and it finally broke...but at this point I won’t be a returning customer. It’s really disheartening to see companies lose integrity, produce lower and lower quality items, and still retain their popularity.
If you’re reading this, cut your losses and avoid Razer. It’s 2024 and my wired mouse can’t maintain a reliable connection to a USB port on the motherboard.
This has been happening for years across multiple computers and programs, with no resolution or support. The only fix I’ve found is to unplug all Razer products, and throw them in the trash and replace with something else. The company will not provide support or fixes for this, and the new Dragon Age game is literally unplayable with this issue. Razer support consists of “uninstall and reinstall” and ignoring their customers. It’s really unfortunate, the Tartarus is based on a great product, but ever since Razer took over it’s become more trouble than it’s worth. Time to relearn gaming with a keyboard I guess.
I found this through a Google search. I've been having this problem for about a year and a half. Tried both my keyboard and mouse on both PCs and a laptop, no luck. Ran once without Synapse, they ran great but looked terrible. Installed the Razer software and suddenly I've got random disconnects.
Planning to buy some corsair products as im sick of this crap happening. I went down a rabbit hole that consumed about 6 months of my life by troubleshooting USB ports, reinstalling windows and bringing my PC to multiple shops to look at before finally realizing it was my expensive Razer peripherals that was the cause. I am very disappointed but pleased to give another company my business.
I had the same problem.
Solution: I installed the latest version of Razer Synapse and disabled the light/brightness part of my mouse.
Disconnected too many time. This product is the highest price mouse that I have bought. I see this problem is from 6 years ago; and it hasn’t been fixed yet… How can I avoid this issue again?
by not purchasing a razer product ever again, my razer naga trinity constantly disconnects and reconnects for no reason, i cant even force it to happen by wiggling wires or touching anything on it. trash product a year out of warranty and it magically starts f*ing around. nice job razer lost another customer
Hey BasedShady, Bright_Light, and Deanduffus! Does the issue happen while plugging the devices into another computer? Please try removing all Razer-related files from your PC through the Razer Driver Clean-up tool: https://rzr.to/Tf53xj. Once done, please restart your computer and install the Razer Synapse 3.0 and its supplemental updates. Let me know how it went.
I did this and it is still going
Despite the update to v4 of razer synapse, this issue is still a problem for me. I’ve tried LITERALLY EVERYTHING that I can to fix this issue, but to list all of the ways I’ve tried would be akin to writing a novel, so I won’t be doing that.
All I can say is that my computer (Intel i5 12600KF, 64 GB (2 sticks) DDR4 RAM (Corsair Vengeance Pro), Zotac RTX 3060 OC, ASUS Prime Z690-P D4, Windows 11 version 23H2 (Newest) ) is INCOMPATIBLE with the software and that my only option is to switch from Razer to literally any other peripheral-selling company.
TO BE CLEAR, this has NOTHING to do with the hardware, I genuinely like the mouse and keyboard I have; they feel great to game and work with and are fairly robust.
I love Razer’s physical products and hope that they don’t change, but they need to hire some professionals to save the slowly corroding software that you guys provide. For those who read this, if there are any alternate softwares to switch to that are more reliable for now, that’d be great.
(For Razer employees, you’ll need to ask better questions than, “Did you reinstall the software/drivers or follow these highly specific instructions and use your command terminal to do this and that and...,” because I DID that, and the issue persisted. I will freely give out ANY info (non-security only) you need to help with fixing this issue.)
