Improvement Needed Re: Shipping

    Recently ordered and just received a (freaking awesome!) Blackwidow Ultimate Stealth. Couldn't be happier with the keyboard - packaging was great, all the keys work and feel great, price was great - 10/10 on the actual product!

    But... there's one area I noticed that has a lot of room for improvement, and it's the area that Razer isn't actually involved with (no shock there, otherwise I'm sure it'd kick @$$ by default too). That area is shipping, provided by FedEx; and since that effects Razer customers, imo it's an important discussion to have here.

    So here's what happened... I hear a knock on the door; I take a grand total of maybe 5 seconds to get up and walk to the other end of the room to answer the door; I open the door as a FedEx truck starts up outside and proceeds to drive off - the driver of which not even bothering to look in my general direction to make sure the package made it to its rightful owner. I scoop up the box leaning on the wall next to the door and think "THANK GOD I WAS HOME WHEN THAT WAS DELIVERED!!"

    I live in a semi-high crime area. I'm not talking like middle-of-the-ghetto, but I'd bet that more likely than not, if they delivered that shortly after I left for work... it wouldn't be there when I got back.

    That knock-and-drop thing is NOT OKAY FOR EXPENSIVE ELECTRONICS!

    When I ordered the keyboard from Razer's website, there was no option to request requiring a signature or anything upon delivery - so I shrugged it off and figured that was just assumed for the type of goods Razer provides. Nope.

    So I'd like to suggest just ^that: Either add an option to the purchasing procedure to request a signature, or just require FedEx to do so for all items.

    To take it a step further, give the option to provide a few authorized names upon purchase, and request a photo-ID check - if none of the people listed are available at the time of delivery, don't leave the item! ...I know something like that may be out of Razer's ability to control, but I've seen plenty of "special instructions for delivery" fields in the ordering process for other businesses I've ordered from, so if FedEx can't accommodate that kind of request, perhaps it's time to find a better company to trust your products with.

    Anyway, I apologize for making such a negative post, but I hope this criticism is constructive. I'd like to stress once more that Razer's end of the deal was 100% as usual - my gripe is with FedEx's total abscence of customer service and how they so poorly handled such a high quality/value item.

    Putting myself in Razer's shoes, if I made that keyboard, I'd be pretty upset with that kind of disrespect for my work.

    Razer will also NOT ship to an APO address because they only use FedEx. I have been talking to them about that for a little while now and it doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I was told they won't ship to an APO because no one has to sign for it which is obviously not an issue for them. I actually have to show my ID at the post office to get ANY packages that get delivered. Razer told me I would have to ship it to someone in the US then have them ship it over to me which I was willing to do but.... AE is not an option under state when putting in my billing address so they lost a blade sale. I still love the company and the products but not being able to order here or send back anything under warranty while I am stationed overseas is pretty crappy.

    I'm not sure which carrier I was dealing with, but there was someone at one point where after I had the tracking number issued by the merchandise provider I was able to make changes to my delivery options prior to it being put on the delivery truck. I could specify where to leave the item and a few other options. I didn't specifically look for it, but perhaps requiring a signature, or at the very least requiring a live human to accept the package, would be one of those options??
