Sorry for no updates on my Razer Core V2 at the moment. I've run into a new problem. When I disconnect the Razer Core from my Razer Blade 14 then 1060 GPU isn't switched back on. I have to reset the laptop in order for it to turn back on. Hmm. . .gonna try reinstalling the switcher app as I think that's what's causing it.

Before I ordered I asked support (my last RBS purchased 08 2017) and the answer was a pretty solid NO.

Do you disable the GPU with the nvidia tray icon before disconnecting? Is the tray icon still there? You need to re-enable it again manually.

Does it support any laptop or it needs to be a blade ?

It could be connected with any TB3 laptops, but might be wouldn’t offer plag and play feature (you have to restart your laptop).

I think it was the software installed improperly. I updated windows ((That took forever. . .yuck)), uninstalled nvidia drivers Razer Synapse and razer gpu switcher are reinstalled everything. And this seems to have fixed everything. Which is good so I can play on my blade on my porch while I enjoy this nice cool weather.

I think what happened, is the GPU was disabled for some reason. It happens randomly and I never really bothered to figure out why. Next time, go into Device Manager (Control Panel), right click on your GPU (under "Display adapters"), and click "Enable device". When it's disabled like this it won't show up in the system tray menu.

The software wasn't installed improperly, or it would have never worked right to begin with.

Ooooh! Excited! I'm looking forward to the upgrade discount for folks like myself who bought a Razer Core v1 and want to upgrade to a version that actually does everything it claims to, notable as regards the USB and Ethernet functionality.

There, uh... there will be an upgrade discount program, or a trade-in sort of thing, right? Something to help with the problem that every Razer Core v1 owner has? Perhaps just thirty bucks to offset the additional USB+Ethernet hub purchased to work around the known problems?

At least an acknowledged handwave? I'd settle for that, at this point. Just, you know, type the words, "Yes, we released a product with a problem and we don't plan to fix it." At least then we'd know where we stand.

Please? I really, really want to recommend this hardware to friends, but I still can't do it with a clean conscience.

I have the V1 at home and the USB ports and ethernet jack work just fine o_O

Yes, you are trying to squeeze 10 pounds of shit through a 5 pound cable. Yes, some USB devices don't like that.

The existence of a new version is your acknowledgement. Those of us that tried to shoehorn in a pci-based graphics card into a laptop dock from the 90s are shocked this thing works at all, let alone as well as it does.

Even with the v2 I would recommend plugging that super-low-latency audio interface, or super-fast disk... right into the laptop itself.

I’ve been keeping device manager open and watching it when I connect and disconnect the core to my blade. Running smooth like it should currently. So it’s all good. Very happy with it now. Though I wish it could power the Blade 14 without the power plug.

And support has gotten back to me and says my noise on my unit is normal and it’s not running to loudly. So that’s also good news. I’m considering getting a headset for when I’m gaming and having trouble picking one. I want it to be wireless since this is setup in my living room and will have the laptop and core across the room from me.
  12. Need help with my razer core v2.

I just had the razer core v2 2 days ago. I did put a gtx 1080ti in it, connect it to my razer blade pro 4k, laptop automatically download softwares for the core, system ask me to restart the laptop, laptop restarted and finally it got stucked on black loading screen (before you sign in) with cursor.

I did force shut down and did the restore factory setting in their Bios. Redid the whole process, update the nvidia, update razer synapse, connect the razer core and same thing happened still got stucked in black loading screen.

    Please help

Go to this page and open a case with Razer Support by using the Contact Us link on that page. And I’m sure you did already but read the Master Guide Link also and make sure you did all the steps. I was having problems with my unit too but doing the same steps you did fixed my issue.

Does the laptop boot normally if you disconnect the Core?
  14. Yes, i already did call the razer support but they too are confused on what’s happening.

I did try to boot my laptop even its not connected to the core and still having that issue.

Im going to try downloading some of the drivers before connecting it. Thank you

Looking forward to hearing your results. I also have the Blade Pro, and might be interesting in picking up the Core. Please share some comparisons once you get things working.

I got confirmation at PAX that the core will be making its way to AP, and probably a worldwide release in Q1 2018, priced at $499 USD converted into your currency at the usual rate, so probably $650-700 AUD.

You have the Razer Blade Pro 17”? If that’s the case I don’t think it works for the Pro. Atleast for the 1080 model. Not sure about the 1060 mode.

So you weren’t able to pick one up on the show floor? That’s a bummer. You should just take a vacation to the USA and pick one up here. Lol

Oh believe me I asked :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: also yeah it's like 2k to get me to the US and that's not taking accommodation or anything into consideration

First even it has TB3, it’s no officially supported. Why do you need the Core atm? It is no sense because your dGPU 1080 would perform better due CPU bottleneck and TB3 bandwidth things. The core would switch to the more powerful GPU but since it’s officially not supported maybe those black screen is the result. Pro FHD with 1060 maybe could be connected due way weaker dGPU.
I would return it back and buy it in the future when 1080 becomes weaker (out to date).
